  1. I echo @@csho! Based on Jenny's site you'll have beautiful pics! Congrats!
  2. Hi there - Welcome & I'm on "Team NOT Too Early", as a fellow 2015 wedding planner who's been on here since November. As @@acw271011 & @@csho mentioned, resorts book fast so the earlier you plan the better. I had this happen to me with one of the properties we are looking at, and we were more than 12 months out. @@kirab22 is also right about the rates. We are currently trying to lock down at 2014 rates and some of the resorts offer nice discounts for early booking. Happy planning!
  3. @@Torifire - I really like the SIM card idea! Apologies for my ignorance but how does that work? Do they allow guests to use their cell phones while in MX without incurring charges from their cell service provider in Europe & Russia? If so, where are you getting them from?
  4. @@jasstz - when I went down, they said you will do a menu and cake tasting once you arrive with the resort's onsite coordinator and they will note what you like etc. The pastry chef you can send pics in advance, but also when you arrive of any cake styles/designs you like and they will work to make it happen. You can even say I like the dots or flowers on this cake, but the shape of that one. As long as the pics are labeled, he said they strive to make it happen - the more details/visuals you provide, the better. When I did a tasting at the event, we didn't like the cake pops but liked the strawberry (it's more of a strawberry w/ cream) cake and one other - I have to ask my fiance what that flavor was. Those flavors were moist and tasted pretty good. I was bracing myself for something horrible based on some of the reviews on here. We didn't like the cake pops. They tasted like they weren't completely cooked.
  5. @ - thanks for sharing that info!! I really like some of these for my welcome/rehearsal and reception dresses, much less for work (to sport my hopefully slimmer figure)!
  6. @@AggieKat - I've decided to take a less is more (aka simple elegance) approach based on feedback from friends who did DWs. They both suggested/reminded me to take into account the setting's beauty/charm. Outdoor locations, especially destination ones, unlike some indoor locations (e.g. ballrooms) tend to speak for itself. Another friend who had her ceremony & reception at a museum had the same feedback. They added simple touches to their ceremony & reception sites to help enhance the setting and beauty of it. Blue's backdrop/setting is so intimate and pretty that I think something mid-range (a few candles and/or flowers) will give it that special "pop."
  7. @@talicea7812 - yayyyyy on the WIN!!!! @@AggieKat - you should be perfectly fine with that sized group on Blue Terrace. It isn't a very large space and can accommodate that many guests and have space for a dance floor easily!
  8. Sorry that should have said MOH. I hate auto-correct. @@jasstz - no thanks needed. I wasn't considering them either until I saw the price for what lomas offers and other's pictures of their bouquets.
  9. Since my fiance only has one groomsman (best man) I will only have a m how oh and my niece, a jr bridesmaid to worry about. I may get basic lomas flowers that match my bouquet or get real touch ones for them too. I am debating if I want to have my niece carry a bouquet or a flower pomodor instead. How about you?
  10. @@Carlicardenas - they released the January 2015 rates late last month and just released February 2015 rates a day or so ago. My existing TA doesn't have February rates, but somehow the new one I'm switching to does.
  11. @@ng2015 - Real Touch (also called Natural Touch) flowers are fakes that look really real. If you want to create your own bouquet, you can get individuals and/or bloom heads at Save-On-Crafts. Other brides have mentioned finding them at Michael's. If you want a bouquet made for you, many on here seem to have gotten them from Bloom Bridal and Created By Me Dezigns. I'm not sure if I'm going to have a bouquet made or make one myself using a brooch bouquet tutorial. I can't get over how real some of the flowers look.
  12. I forgot to also mention some of the plantations that have become quaint hotels. We took a tour of a couple and they were nice and rich with history re the sugar industry/trade.
  13. Congrats and welcome! I haven't gotten married there but have vacationed there. I highly recommend the Four Seasons in neighboring Nevis and highly recommend avoiding the Marriott in St. Kitts. At first glance it's a beautiful property but is poorly maintained. We didn't have any issues with the room but all around, we saw things that needed repair. Also, the pool is neglected. It isn't cleaned as frequently as it should so there was a constant oily film (presumably from sunscreen) and bugs/leaves floating in it. When we drove around, we saw many nice villas. We said we'd rent one and go that route if we opt to vacation in St. Kitts again. Hope this is helpful and doesn't come off as "Debbie Downer".
  14. Hi @@KaraEbeth - Yes, EDR is really large! So large, they used golfcarts to take everyone around during the site visit. Granted, the group touring was really large and part of a bigger event (Bride's Dress Rehearsal), the couples we met who stayed there said it was so large they hadn't seen all of the resort. They said they saw more on the tour than during their stay. I think it is perfect for the couple who wants to meet up with their guests at certain times of the wedding weekend or bump into people here and there. If you want more of an intimate feel without potentially feeling on top of each other, I think AS is a better fit.
  15. FINALLY made it to 150, although I caved at 75 and paid the $30 hehehehe. It still feels good to hit 150. That.was.WORK!
  16. CONGRATS & NICE!!!!!! You really put in a lot of work and I love that you put everything in your invite - it's SO detailed!!! You really thought of everything - from maps and points of interest to your wedding day itinerary and "what to wear" ideas. I think I may have to snag the attire idea!
  17. you should consider asking them to do a fondant icing so the cake won't look as sloppy as the first one. While it's thicker than a buttercream, it holds up against the heat/humidity better. They had some very nice ones on display during the cake tasting at the Rehearsal event. I was actually impressed because I had heard a lot of negatives.
  18. @@talicea7812 - we went with Sascha Gluk (www.cancunphotosblog.com). We really loved his work and how he tells a story through his pictures. That's awesome that you have a great connection with your photographer. I know that will result in truly amazing photos. I'm sorry to hear that your issues with the planning team aren't letting up.
  19. @@jasstz - are biting the bullet and paying the vendor fee for a local photographer. He charges by the hour (a little under $400/hr). Unfortunately, I had to trade this for my video dreams so we may be going with the resort videographer if they don't suck too bad. @@talicea7812 - so jealous you have a photog you can fly in!
  20. @@megan224 - did you do an interest card or an email? Interested in knowing how you gauged interest. Thanks for the insight!
  21. You are a lot further ahead than you think from the sound of things. love Love LOVE the first headband (view of the back of her head). It really compliments the jewelry and the fab shoes! I agree with @@tesa - very nice...great ideas! it's going to look great. this is inspiring!
  22. @@MrsBlake2015 - I'm in the same boat! I thought I knew but have changed gears from our original plan.
