  1. If it's just you guys, you can totally do it!!!! Lots of hotels in the Caribbean offer wedding packages ( including photos, make up, etc...)for a minimal cost if you stay 5-7 nights. I'm pretty sure travel agents like Thompson offer packages too! Good luck :-) :-)
  2. @@trbutler I don't think it'd be tacky, maybe you could do cocktails just before dinner, you don't want to get too giddy on that Caribbean rum :-)
  3. I'd go with Chicken, most people like chicken. But at the end of day it's your wedding, and if you prefer beef, go for it! :-)
  4. @@helenk I would pack some repellant, the mosquitoes are around all year, as well as flies. Thinking about putting son bottles of repellant at the guest book table or on the tables for guests.
  5. @@TinkerSofi we made our own invites, we did a gate fold card, and tied them with purple ribbon (actually just finished them last night, I'll try get pics up soon.) I went to a stationary shop, and the assistant was able to advise me on what card would be the best for the card part, and the paper for the insert inside. She showed me how to put the invite together, and made me a sample one for me to go by. I used a 200g a4 card, and 120g paper for the insert inside, and purple organza ribbon. The assistant was able to cut the paper to size for me, and let me make creases for folding ( they had a special machine for making folds) otherwise you could use a bone folder to get neat folds on your card. We got the invites printed at an Irish equivalent to Staples, cost about 25 € (30 USD) for 30 pages. The type of printer you use, can depend on what type of paper you go for, we used opal shimmer paper, so they used laser, ink jet would have run on the paper. Hope this has helped :-)
  6. I'm still unsure what I should give my MOH ( my sister) and my BM ( best friend), because my wedding is so close to Christmas, should I give them a big Christmas present just before Christmas? ( I won't see them at Christmas, I'll already be in Jamaica) or should I give them something before I leave, and give them a gift when they get to Jamaica?
  7. I think that's loads of time, gives everyone the chance to mingle, and perhaps your guests will decide to have dinner together :-)
  8. @@KayLaDee congratulations!!!! This forum has a wealth of information for planning! Good luck and happy planning :-)
  9. @@ASAtobe I'll be looking for a repellant with deet .Unfortunately we don't have off here in Ireland.I think thee stuff I used before wasn't strong enough, it had a citronella base.
  10. Yeah flowers are so pricy, i tink we're going to use silk flowers for the centre pieces, or sand and silk petals..:-)
  11. Looks gorgeous!!!!! Love the little lanterns for the candles :-)
  12. Same here, my MOH has turned up for dress shopping, bm dress shopping, and is always there to take a call... we just might get interrupted with Mummy duties though:-D I've gotten used to it :-)
  13. @@ASAtobe I didn't read your first post properly, and didn't realize that a sit down with her wouldn't be possible. Like @@kmk2016 was saying, tell her she's off the hook until your both on the same place! Then its full on MOH duties!!! :-) Do include her in planning as you go along, when she sees how excited you are, she's sure to get excited too!! My MOH is my sister, she's married and has 5 kids, so I'm not really depending on her too much, she's got enough to do, lol!! I've been turning my bridesmaid for help. :-)
  14. @@ASAtobe I love the girly cocktails night, I'm hoping to do the same with my MOH, bridesmaids, and future in-laws :-) :-)
  15. @@BusyBee280 that is such a great idea, pity there's no bars in Ireland willing to do that!! :-(
  16. I-ve heard about lightinthebox.com is it good?? Have gotten some ,mixed reviews on quality before, anyone had experience with them? :-)
  17. Go for it, you only get married once, and it sounds like you want to have one:-) we're having one, and it's costing about the same $2000, we budgeted for it in the beginning. You don't want to look back and think, oh I wish we had done this or that....
  18. ASAtobe why don't you talk to her about it? Take her aside and just tell her how you are feeling about it. Maybe it'll help clear the air between you two. Maybe there's a reason she hasn't been stepping up, and just complaining. Hope it works our for, its so upsetting when people you have counted on let you down , in your hour of need.
  19. Good suggestion grouping things into events makes so much sense , thanks :-)
  20. Not much really, trying to keep the costs down on the wedding related events... we'll do a rehearsal dinner in a local restaurant in Negril. Maybe a girly cocktails night down at the hotel too ;-)
  21. Oh my goodness, that's sounds terrible... Can you get your Fiancé to talk to her? And explain while yes it'll be a vacation, the main focus of going there is for your Wedding day, and she can make plans when its all over. After all it's your day, not her's.... sounds like she's acting very childish.I would definitely move your dress!!!
  22. They are both gorgeous dresses... I think the long one's would work really well for the beach though, seen a few people say they will blow in the wind... very dramatic and beautiful!!
