  1. Both dresses are gorgeous on you, and you've got a great figure. I personally think no.1 accentuates your figure better. The belt finishes it off!! Go with your heart here, and you'll pick the 'one' :-)
  2. @@beckys98 and @@helenk Same here I thought the cost was too high, her work does look amazing, but it is very pricey, especially seeing as you have to factor in vendor fees. I decided to go with Queenbee beauty, they are based in Negril, so they won't charge to come out, or I can decide to have my hair/make up done in their salon. Their prices are reasonable, i'm paying $350 for me and 2 bm's hair/make up, and a trial for 40.
  3. @@angiewayne Dwayne Watkins work is amazing, you only have to look at his website or look at past brides on this forum to see the quality of his work...you are definitely paying for what you get. I think his packages are tailor made, but they start around $2,500+ Unfortunately the prices were out of our budget, but if we had the cash we definitely would have booked him.
  4. That's really sweet that he gave you his mum's ring. Follow your gut instinct here, you and your h2b will figure it out. I'd say you most probably could get a wedding band to fit with your engagement ring. I did that, it just involved me giving my engagement ring to the jeweler for a day so heccould make a mould of it. I tried them both on last week, the sit perfectly flush! Good luck with your decision and congratulations on your engagement :-)
  5. I'm not sure of her prices, but I have seen people post them in other topics, found this from suggestions on make up artist in Jamaica I just contacted her. It would be a 100 travel fee, then instead of paying the 300 vendor fee she would stay there for 260. Then 75 for makeup. If u want hair also she has to bring anither person then would be 300 to stay and 75 for hair.
  6. My sister ( who is also my moh) is walking me down the aisle, as both my parents have passed away. She is my only family member attending the wedding, and even though we're total opposites, she is my best friend, and is always there for me.
  7. @@LisaAnthonyPoppy thanks, been trying so hard to keep it all together, but its so nerve wracking waiting to hear back from the hotel. I reckon they want us to pay more han the price we were quoted by the previous coordinator/ management, which we are not willing to pay, nor should we have to . There is a part of me that just wants to throw in the towel and forget about it. I hope that we can sort out something, but the whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't even think I could trust them to provide us with the day we want.
  8. In many ways I wish we'd hired a wedding planner. We've been having such headache with our venue. The onsite events coordinator left, and only thought to tell us about this on her last day!!!!!! We were assured that our file was passed onto the general manager, and they'd be our main contact. We tried numerous times to contact them, but never got any response. The email address didn't work, and our phone cells went unanswered or our messages were not passed on. Finally we got an email from the new coordinator, introducing themselves, and asking about our wedding details. We wrote back immediately and introduced ourselves, and presumed all was in order. We got a reply after a few days ( good for island time) basically asking about all our wedding details, including THE DATE and if we were staying on the property????????? Seriously? Wtf! I know Jamaica is laid back, but the wedding isn't that far away now( December).Naturally I was upset, but H2b ( who is Jamaican) assured me it'll be alright... we sent an email with all details, including copies of contract signed, cc receipts and emails we exchanged with the former coordinator. We didn't hear anything for a few days, so we decided to call. Turns out the new coordinator is also the new General manager. She was quiet impolite, and impatient with us ( really didn't appreciate this, after all of this messing about). She told us she was not able to find any record of us paying deposit( even though we mailed it to her). She basically asked for everything we already sent again, and told us she would have to "review" the prices we were previously quoted!!!!! ( Surely a breach of contract??). We re-sent everything yesterday, and got a response today asking for a break down of the food/ drink quotes we negotiated in January. I'm so fed up, exhausted, and frustrated with this situation. I know planning a wedding isn't easy, and a DW is a bit harder with the added stress of not being in the same country/ cultural differences etc... but this really just takes the biscuit!! Really wish we'd hired a planner, to deal with all of these issues. On a positive note, the vendors ( decorations/ mke-up artist) we've booked, have been so good, they always respond to emails, and follow up on emails/ calls. Anyway rant over.... but if we had a choice again we'd hire a decent planner!!!!
  9. I have 1 moh ( my big sister) and 1 bridesmaid and my Fi's niece is a flower girl. My fi has his 3 brothers as his groomsmen/ bestman. We're an uneven number, doesn't bother me.
  10. You look fab in both dresses. I'm going to vote the second dress, its more figure hugging, and by the way you talked about it, it sounds like you prefer it! Follow your gut instinct here! Good luck
  11. @@NJBride2014 your Sister is so right, you've got to flaunt it!! Your Fiancé will be blown away when he sees you in it!! :-)
  12. Hi Carol, congratulations on your engagement!!!! I'm Irish and living in Ireland. I'm going o Jamaica for our wedding (my Fiancé is Jamaican) having a Catholic ceremony when we get home though ( to keep all sides happy). I'd look at mrs2be.IE and weddings online.IE as well as one fab day. Where about are in Ireland are you getting married? Are you coming home before to plan , or doing all from overseas? Also you might find this link useful about civil requirements. not sure if you're doing a Catholic ceremony, but you'll have to a marriage preparation course... but a priest would fill you in on that. Good luck with the planning, if you need any help, just pm me :-) http://www.hse.ie/go/marriage/ http://www.mrs2be.ie/
  13. I've booked Queenbee (Debra Barrett) to do my hair/make-up, and 2 BM's. I'll be having a trial before the wedding day, not really sure what I'd like yet. Probably natural enough, I'm not much of a make-up person.
  14. I'm getting an outside vendor to do chair covers/ sashes, I'm getting them to move the chairs from the ceremony to the reception, don't want to pay double for chairs , covers and sashes.
  15. Oh my goodness, this is so tough. You seem to be handling it well, I would have broken down by now. Is there anyway you could have a quiet word with her, and just tell her how you are feeling, maybe try and lay your cards out on the table, and perhaps offer to go shopping with her, to look for a different outfit?
  16. @@atennille congratulations on your engagement, and welcome to bdw :-) good luck with your planning, this forum is so helpful, it'll give you all the info out need for your perfect day :-)

    Cake!!!

    Amazing cake!!! :-)
  18. Thanks everyone for your advice, I've decided to go with my gut , and get the tea-length dress made by a dressmaker I know. I'll be having my first fitting in 2 weeks or so.... eek so excited :-)
  19. @ wow, the video is beautiful :-) congratulations on your wedding :-) :-)
  20. Love it, think I'll have to steal the idea :-)
  21. I think pinning something to the chair could work, like a Starfish or flower garlands, or mini bunting.
