Luggage tag Save The Date
Jennkn87 replied to itswrightsc's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Love these!!!! I, too, was wanting to make a luggage tag save the date with one of our engagement pics on there! I really couldn't find anyone else that had put a pic on theirs!! Yours look great! Any details you can give me on them would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! -
My biggest stressor thus far has been getting his family on board with the decision to get married so far away. I have ALWAYS wanted to get married on a beach. We originally thought maybe South Carolina, Florida area...then I quickly realized..we would be getting on yet another plane for a honeymoon, there are NO all-inclusive places in the US, and if we are going to do this...lets do it RIGHT! So I started looking at islands....Originally thinking the Virgin Islands, so the people that didn't have passports already wouldn't have to mess with getting them. I then learned how expensive it can be to fly there, and decided....It's MY wedding...I shouldn't be planning this around other people! I've been to Mexico twice, and Punta Cana once, so my next destination was going to be Jamaica! I ran this idea past my fiancee and he was on board! I decided that was going to be the destination! Now to figure out which resort to choose! When we mentioned this to his family, his mother instantly laughed..saying...HAH! RIGHT! We are not spending that much money!....I don't think she thought I was serious! Well...SORRY! Every since we decided this his family has been causing issues. His mom finally is starting to come around and actually said she wants to see my info I've gathered. Just when I thought I could breathe easier and they were coming around, his father made mention to his gma that he WAS NOT going to leave the country.....Seriously?!?!?! I'm really having issues with this...I am NOT budging on MY wedding....I think alot of it has to do with...they have NEVER been out of the country, let alone...NEVER even been to a beach. They don't realize the ALL-INCLUSIVE part of it. I really think if they had experienced it before they wouldn't be soo negative on the idea. Then to top it off...now his sister is throwing a fit, due to the fact we have decided not to take his 2 year old daughter with us down for the ceremony, and only have her at the at home reception. Now apparently I'm a HORRIBLE person because we made this decision, for MANY reasons!! She would be the ONLY child in the group, we are staying at an adults-only resort, even if we got a pass for her to come over, it would only be for the ceremony, we would have to get her a separate plane ticket, get her a passport (which would be hell in itself getting her mother to show up to sign for it), someone would have to watch her the whole time, I don't think she needs to be around all of the drinking and partying that will no doubt be going on, she won't remember it, and most obviously and importantly...her mother is lets just say the most pleasant person to deal with and would NEVER allow us to take her out of the country, mainly just because she likes to do ANYTHING that will hurt him or make things difficult for us. His family knows how much trouble she has already caused and the type of person she is...I would think that in itself would make them realize our decision is the right one...NOT the case...instead I'M the bad person now. I'm sticking to my guns and not letting ANY of their drama they are trying to cause bring me down or change any of my decisions. My fiancee is on board with all of this and I made sure of that in the beginning. It's just SUPER frustrating on top of trying to make all the decisions on the resort and trying to figure what to spend money on and what not to! I ended up changing resorts and FINALLY after like 2 months made a final decision on one...now just waiting to hear back about my date and make the deposit! I feel like once I have that part done I will feel like ALOT has been lifted off my shoulders! Hoping things start looking up! Sorry! Rant over!!! I haven't talked to many people about my situation...but the ones I have talked to have totally agreed with our decision! Some people just don't see it from our point of view I guess! Oh well! OUR WEDDING!!!

We have a small party of 21 including us and the majority know this guest so I know everyone would be at the very least congratulating her and what not. Am I a complete jerk that I don't want to share this trip with her? I am trying not to be bridezillaish but I was hurt when she threw how much she spent in my face and said that if she wanted to get engaged on her vacation that was up to her. Do you think I am in the wrong when I feel that this is just inappropriate? I would definitely be ticked if something like that happened. It IS their vacation..that they are paying for...and who of us WOULDN'T have enjoyed getting engaged on vacation at the beach....But to be show you some respect, I would hope that they would wait till AT LEAST the day after your wedding. I know how some girls can be..even though it is someone else's day, they think they need to steal the spotlight! I REALLY HOPE this isn't what happened! Will be anxious to hear what happened! CONGRATS ON THE MARRIED LIFE! :-)

I would think you would def still be able to, as long as you aren't really specific on which date you want and are willing to be flexible! I know I've read of people up and decided to fly somewhere and get married in 2 weeks. So I'm sure it is doable! Might be stressful but once your there you will forget everything! Good Luck! -

If you didn't go the DIY route..what websites/companies did you use to print your invites and save the dates? Has anyone used weddingpaperdivas? I got a sample packet from magnetstreet and they seem really nice, I am just not sure I want to spend that much money on them since I will be doing different invites for the wedding and reception at home....still trying to decide what type of save the dates I want to do...and if I should probably do separate STDs as well since we are only having 30-35 people at the ceremony in Jamaica. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!!! Thanks so much!

I found this idea online and thought it was really unique and of course anyone who knows me knows that I love to be different, lol. So take a peek and please leave feedback and your thoughts if you have time. Below is the information on how we put them together. I am very blessed that my sister is an event planner and has played an integral part in all of my stationary products (place cards, table numbers, save the date design, bridal shower invitation, and our monograms!) We ordered 100 luggage tags (since this was the minimum you could order) from Luggage Tag 1840-620x Colored Molded Rigid Plastic. We only used half but hey I thought it was worth the deal and maybe I can sell the rest or find some use for them somehow. Next my sister ordered custom business cards from Vistaprint to print the front and back. The front we made like a standard luggage tag with all the information listed and on the back we used our custom monogram that my sister created for us. We used grosgrain ribbon for the loops from JoAnn's Fabric (they were on sale for $1.00 a roll and we only needed about 6 rolls of each ribbon. I bought the 60 starfish charms off eBay for $4.00 and another 50 from another bride that was selling them, so I'll have to find another project to use the rest of those too. I am so impulsive with shopping that my motto has become you can never have too much, lol. We purchased the envelopes from bluepaperdot.com and there shipping is great. I recieved the envelopes in 5 days and they were about 12.95 per pack (each pack comes with 50) We ordered both Aqua Lagoon and Fuschia since those are our colors. We used water bottle labels to do the wrap around label which turned out great! I am so happy with them and now look forward to working on the formal invitations. If anyone is interested in my sister's work, please check out her website, www.mysparklingevent.com and her blog, The Sparkle Spot Thx for reading LOVE THESE! These are the colors I'm planning on having too...at least REALLLY close. I know this post is old but I'm also trying to get to 150 posts! I am still trying to decide if I want to do luggage tags for STDs or something else....too many decisions!

How much did it cost you to do them yourself? I am trying to decide what type of invites I want to do. I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the extra time doing them myself, or spending the extra money having them done by someone else. I'm wanting our picture on our STDs so I'm assuming it would be easier to have those printed somewhere else...EEekk soooo many decisions!

Hello al!! We've made our final decision, after changing resorts a few times, to go with Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay! I haven't set the date in stone as of right now...still waiting to get the paperwork for the deposit. Is there anyone else getting married around that time at Wild Orchid/St. James?? I think it would be soooo neat to meet someone on here that will be down there at the same time!! Happy planning to everyone!!

I feel like I'm NEVER going to get to 150!! I don't want to start printing and using other templates before I can see the ones on here!!

I used rubber stamps, purple and red glitter gel pens, and purple and red ink pads from Michaels. I also printed clear labels with the address listed in dark purple. I ordered the save the date stamps from Zazzle.com. I thought they were kind of cute and added that splash of color to the front of the envelope. I wrote the addresses with a silver metallic pen. INVITATIONS Tri-fold jacket with enclosed boarding pass invitation. Boarding pass invite and rsvp card and reply envelope, I haven't received the invitation stamps yet. I will post that when I get my stamps. Here is the closed tri-fold jacket wrapped in the bow. The silver love stamp will be placed on the outer envelope once everything has been completed and closed. What does the inside of your envelope say for the invites? Resort info?

I'm trying to decide which website to use for our wedding website. I've read a lot of reviews on weddingwindow.com...Does anyone have any comments, insight on this site? Is it worth it to pay for the site, or just go with a free one? How did everyone set their site up? We are only inviting a certain amount of close friends and family to the actual ceremony in Jamaica. Then we will be having a larger reception when we return back home. Should I put the wedding website on the save the dates for the people that will NOT be invited to the ceremony? I don't want people to think they were left out because they will see all the information about the accommodations and such. Is there a way you can set up certain pages with certain passwords? Or should I just not put the website on the regular reception STDs?? Help!

Any questions you have about weddings/resorts, let me know I have been there for a wedding 2 months ago and have been in contact with the WC. I have a lot of information from her and she responds pretty quickly and in a friendly matter! I was originally booked at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall but changed to Secrets after visiting (plus there is almost nothing including in the weddings at the Iberostar!). I have lots of pics and information so anything you would like, send me a private message and I will give you my email, it is probably easier that way!...Do you have a photographer yet? I booked an amazing one and am very excited now that it is all booked and confirmed!! I was also almost 100% positive on booking with Iberostar as well, and have recently decided to go with Secrets, wild orchid (most likely). They do include more in their packages than iberostar did, but I kind of feel like anything extra you add on is really expensive. Some of the stuff we can definitely do without, or I can bring my own, I'm hoping. I keep reminding myself that this is supposed to be a simple wedding, but Ikeep finding too many ideas on this website!!! -

Does anyone have the wedding packages and information for Secrets? I threw mine away and deleted the email with them when I thought I had made my mind up on Iberostar. Now it's looking like secrets!!
