  1. @@af2492 I an using Ivan Luckie for my June 8th wedding. My best friend was married in 2008 at Dreams in Tulum and her photographer (who was booked the day of my wedding) recommended both Juan Navarro and Ivan Luckie to me. I went with Ivan Luckie but both have amazing photographs. I just found someone for my invitations over the weekend. I am super excited about it. Next on my list is our wedding bands and to buy undergarments for my dress and shoes, Other than that I am at a standstill.
  2. What is everyone working on now? I feel like I am at a standstill with planning.
  3. @nursemorgan… I'm sure your hotel can provide the water bottles for you so you just have to pack the labels and apply them to the bottles when you arrive. That would be easier than packing bottles of water.
  4. Hi!! Anel JUST got back to me last night from the e-mail I sent her in the beginning of December, which I resent to her a few days ago. She said that the cigar roller was going to be 750 for 2 hours and 50 cigars. Is that what she quoted you? She also said to give her the names of the champagne I wanted so they can order it for me. I think they may have to special order the Johnnie Walker Blue b.c it is over $200 a bottle and I canlt see them having it but thats what we figured any way Thanks for your help!!
  5. @@vanessav53 I sent Anel an e-mail about a month ago telling her that I wanted to book their cigar roller and I also had asked her a ton of questions and she still hasn't responded. This was frustrating me before I booked this hotel and I was told not to worry but I am going to meet with my invitation person this weekend and I need to know if I need to add meal choices on the RSVP cards. What are you doing? I want my guests to have a menu choice but I need to know if the hotel needs to know who is eating what. My fiancee and his friends drink Johnnie Walker Blue -which I doubt the hotel stocks and I need it special ordered for our wedding but can;t get an answer on that. I have a ton of questions and i'm getting a little frustrated at this point
  6. @@vanessav53 I think its a waste to pay $4 a bag. I am going to hand deliver them to my guests room or or distribute them at the welcome dinner.
  7. I am not booking any excursions for my guests. I am hosting a welcome dinner the evening before the wedding and thats it. Most of our guests are flying in for a long weekend and I don't want to momopolize their whole vacation with events.
  8. Are you sure that they are inviting them to your wedding and not just to accompany them on vacation? I went to Hard Rock in DR with a few couples 2 year ago and one of the couples had a welcome dinner one night and the wedding the following but non of us planned on attending, we did our own thing. Your guests may be planning on making a vacation out of your wedding.
  9. We are telling people the same thing and not letting them feel pressured in any way. We totally understand if people can't make it to our wedding. Its hard to keep in mind that even if people can afford to attend they may not want to make their vacation our wedding.
  10. Congratulations and Good luck with all of your planning! I agree that Mexico with just awesome - great beaches, great nightlife! Wherever you chose will be beautiful. I personally had to pick a resort that allowed children but NM resorts has a ton of beautiful resorts, some for families and some for adults only
  11. @@Vecca. Hi! Did you book your resort yet? If so which one did you go with? I am getting married at NOW Sapphire in June. Congratulations and good luck with your planning!
  12. Thanks Vanessa! This is very helpful. So much to do
  13. I'm thinking iPod and playlist for welcome dinner. What are you doing? The party is only 2 hours so I think I can get away with a good playlist. I can't believe my dress is in!!! I'm not even going to look a it b/c I need to lose a little weight. I just joined Equinox last week I love the classes and facility and I was getting sick of NYSC (location by my office is gross). So I will be taking classes before and after work everyday!!
  14. @@loquaciouspunky.. Thank you! I've noticed that people get really funny about weddings an etiquette. I always believe its best to be gracious, extend an invitation and let them decline put it on them.
  15. I got engaged in September, booked my resort in October and sent out my save the date's in November. I left a $2,000 deposit for a 20 room block, my block rate is good until the end of February and we can increase or decrease the amount of rooms we are holding. I didn't think it was a big deal to block these rooms b/c as each room is being booked the $100 p/room goes towards our wedding package - which means less money that we have to lay out when we check out of the resort. BUT…. this leo helps out my guests b/c they only need to leave a $50 deposit when they book and their room balance doesn't have to be paid until X days (I forgot how many) before the wedding. Instead of them having to lay out $150 to hold their own rooms.
  16. @@vanessav53 EEEKKK!!! I didn't think about entertainment!!! I thin the beach BBQ is only 2 hours long so maybe we'll just do and iPod with playlist. I would like the Mariachi band but they are super expensive - like 1200 for 45 minutes, I don't think its worth it for that price. Are you doing any entertainment for your welcome dinner?
  17. Does anyone feel like June 2014 is right around the corner? When are you ladies sending out your invitations and what should be the time line on them (RSVP deadline)? I have an appointment on Saturday with someone to make my invitations but I thinking they will be ready in by the 1st/2nd week in February. What is everyone else doing? I can't get answers from my resort about when they need a headcount or if they need to know who is eating what.
  18. 3K is a lot for a Beach BBQ with DJ. Did you price it without a DJ and just iPod instead? You have a lot of lovely events planned for your guest and its sound like your wedding is going to be lots of fu and very memorable.
  19. @loquaciouspunky…. Me too! Not wedding party for us! I just want people to come and enjoy themselves without the added pressure/expense.
  20. Our wedding reception is 3 hours long and since we are 5 months away I think I am going to see how big of a turnout we are going o have as we get closer then possibly extend the party an extra hour.
  21. I think that most of your guests will not even notice if they do not receive an OOT bag. If you just give out maracas as favors you will be fine.
  22. Your dress is gorgeous and completely appropriate. Remember there is no such thing as being overdressed, especially at your own wedding!!
