We'll be there from that Wednesday and flying out the following Wednesday. I got a reply from him his morning! He also told me that he won't be in DR that month and assigning Pastor Mark to us. I am glad to hear you say that Pastor Mark is good! I had my heart set on Pastor York right from the beginning so I didn't even look for other pastors. We are thinking to fly in Tuesday that week and leave the following Tuesday. Yayyy for labor day weekend brides!! -

I saw your wedding date is Aug 30,2014. I am a day before you on Aug 29! I just emailed Pastor York to ask if he can do the service for us.. I really hope to hear back from him soon! Thank you for sharing his email btw! -

LOL. The flowers decoration on the gazebo will be in blush and ivory though. Like I was telling you guys before, I found the dress for my girls and they are in tiffany blue. I let them choose different styles that flatter them the most, as long as it is from the same wedding attire line, same material and same color As for the dresses, I am a mermaid/fit and flare fan just like you! With looooong train! My fiance is also letting me to get a second dress for the reception- something simple and sexy, with very short train! I have been doing wedding gown shopping and I am really tempted to post some of the pictures for you girls to help me decide! -

I know how you feel! That was my biggest concern as well...I did not want a wedding in the middle of summer in America, while Dec-May is their peak season with things being much more expensive.. I know 5 different couples that had their wedding/honeymoon in Caribbean during the hurricane season in the recent 3 years, they all told me there is nothing to worry about. 2 couples actually came across stormy weather during part of their stay, but they just chilled in their room and what not. My FI was really looking into the weather issue for a while and he says there were reports that show DR has less chance of hurricane than many other islands ie Antigua, Jamaica..etc. And when it did hit, it hit more so the western part of the island. That was part of the reason we picked DR and specifically La Romana (according to dr1.com, La Romana should be drier than Punta Cana). I hope all these will comfort you a little bit! But how you feel is definitely the most important thing! If you are really worried then I would say pick the non-hurricane season. We are going with it but will be closely watching the weather reports -

I think in March is when you should send the invites instead of save the dates...my TA says general destination wedding etiquette is to have save the dates out by 9 month prior and invites out by 6 months prior. Are you set in DR? If so you can always send the save the dates before you do the site inspection? you don't have to mention the specific resort in STD if you don't want to, you can just mention the general city and country? Just a thought -

I hope the wedding package price does not go up in 2015...I will definitely share some tips with you when I am back from mine His family is mostly from America while my family is actually from Malaysia...long way to travel so I really want to make sure everything is top notch and worth their long flights haha -

When did (or are going to) you guys' bridesmaids purchase the bridesmaid dresses? My wedding isn't till end of August 2014 but we found a very cute dress! Right color, right material, all the girls love it! Best part..it's on sale! 50% off! Buuuuut I am not sure I should ask them to buy it now...it's still a year away! Way to early? What do you guys think? -

Coming from UK!Wow that's a long way, how exciting! as for the fireworks you can still check with the WC to confirm? I know on their brochure it says starting from $600. We're expecting around 40-50 guests and I hope we can keep it less than 60. -

I think it is average $400 for 60-90 seconds. Always worth to check with your WC though! How many rooms are you reserving? I am booking 40 and hope that it would be more than enough. -

Anyone knows if DLR provides fire dancers? If so, how much do they charge? -

Yes, I understand by inviting the HDC photographer to be my "guest" they have to stay at the hotel, and that's what I intend to ask them to do... I am willing to pay for photographer's lodging for 2 nights, on top of the photography package. I was wondering though if BBPD would be unhappy about that and kick the photographer out claiming that he is outside vendor.. -

Hey brides-to-be! I am planning my 2014 wedding and Barcelo Bavaro Palace is #1 on my list right now..I like everything they have to offer except for the exclusive photopgrahy studio they use... Do you guys have any insights on that? Do we ABSOLUTELY have to use them if wanting an on-site photographer? I really want to use HDC... I was thinking if it is possible to "invite" the HDC photographer as a guest? I saw some other brides did that on other resorts to avoid the outside vendor fee... -

Hey fellow brides! I am new here and currently trying to finalize on which resort to go with. DLR is #1 on my list right now..and I have been reading all sorts of reviews/threads/discussions on just about every resort in Jamaica and DR.. From what I have gathered, DLR sounds like the perfect place to me, but it is still a little bit nerve wrecking...I just what to make sure it REALLY is the right place for us! What made you guys decide on DLR instead of Dreams Palm Beach or Dreams Punta Cana? I also heard good things about the Paradius..any insights on that one? Any advice that can help me seal my final decision is much appreciated!
