I have to say that, that is very nerve wrecking. I just reserved my date on Monday and the TA stated that she was sending the paperwork over this week. I haven't received the paperwork and while I've very excited I know that if I don't put my deposit down then I won't have my rooms reserved. I am concerned because I am certainly banking on those free unlimited private events. What should we be looking for in our contracts? I'm so early and new in the wedding planning process I'm unsure about the things that I should be requesting for my contract.

Yes ma'am it is in Cancun. It will be my first time vacationing there. I hope to do a site visit prior to my wedding. The pictures and the reviews are breathtaking. I am full of all kinds of emotions. I feel like a kid. I'm happy, overjoyed, nervous exicited overwhelmed... it's alot. I'm just trying to take it day by day. Do you have dates sets yet? For some reason I think that each resort handles it differently, it was one of the reasons that FI and I decided to do a symbolic wedding versus an actual ceremony. Remember, if you have a traditional ceremony it will be in spanish, and if your guests don't speak spanish you will have to employ the use of a translator. another added cost. I think you might be at the mercy of the resort with regard to the costs. I can't see how you can lower the cost because these requirements are to be completed through the resort in order for it to be considered legal. Have you spoken with your WC about how to cut corners on cost?

Congrats HeatherLucky!! When my FI and I decided we were going to have a destination some of the things that were really important to us were places that had direct flights from JFK. We have family that will likely be traveling in a large group so, it's just easiest for us to leave from one airport. I would advise to think about things like that, that may be important to you. what was your proposal like?!?!?! Are you excited???

Hey everyone! Has anyone started on their STD/Invitations? I'm in the early planning stages and I'm trying to figure out what are you putting on the STD and invitations? So far for my STD I have; a picture, date of the wedding, wedding website. I'm thinking about my invitations and I'm kind of at a loss for what to include. I have an idea of design... but what specific deets should I put in there. What do you guys think?

my FI mother passed in April of this year and I never thought that we would be planning this wedding without her. This thread has given me great ideas and some comfort in knowing that I'm not the only one going through this

I hate how planning something that's supposed to be the most special day of our lives can be overshadowed by our families and their selfishness. I know that they just want to share in our day, but it's unfair to the bride. I could see if they were paying for everything, but since they're not... Sorry hun!
