  1. The $300 is per person and is for strictly gifts...like gifts for your bridal party etc. Wedding supplies and decorations do not count in it. They pretty much just take your word for it. I think they see a lot of brides with wedding stuff so they aren't too concerned. It really happens fast..like we were searched and the whole part from putting our bags through the X-ray to pushing the red light and having our stuff searched was literally five minutes.
  2. Just looking at our contract and we paid $40 for the chair bows, and another $40 for the paper lanterns. But no charge to set up our decorations.
  3. We ended up paying for enough appies for 50 people...and they were all gone by the time we got to the cocktail hour...the pictures looks delicious though! If you are just two people over I wouldn't pay for the extra. We were charged to put our chair bows on once. Then there wasn't a charge to move the chairs from the ceremony to the reception. We also paid another $40 to have the paper lanterns hung, they looked beautiful. But I did have to ask for them back the next day after my stuff was returned but they were not. They were returned though with no issues. The little charges didn't really bug me, gave me peace of mind to ow it was going to be done and I didn't have to worry about it. What did shock me was the taxes and gratuities and all that part if the charges!!! Also, we did our reception in the bamboo room and had a private bar set up. We did not pay for this. I'm not sure if it was because we had a large group or it's just standard, but I'm glad I didn't ask for it and pay $350! We did pay to extend the reception an extra 2 hours...it was expensive but so so worth it, especially if you have a DJ. We did the reception from 7pm to midnight, and still went to the disco after that followed by many guests jumping in the pool!
  4. Your letter is very thorough, however, they move very veery quickly when they want to check your bags. We got the red light, and with seven bags we had to get them up on the table and open them and answer their questions which were pretty simple...our answer, it's for our wedding was basically it. They whole 'search' lasted about 3 minutes and most of that was us getting the bags open and then reclosed.
  5. This is serious advice to really take to heart! Honestly, the wedding coordinators know what they are doing and want to make you happy!! I was pretty relaxed about all the planning and details and it was absolutely perfect, I think it actually made everyone else more confused because every question I was asked prior was.....hmmmm, I'm not sure but it will be fine! I even earned the nickname 'Bride-chilla' lol ENJOY IT LADIES!
  6. Just had to add in my thoughts here! I am much like you and wanted to have children young..and lots of them! Lol well, turns out, we just got married less than two months ago. I am 30 and the hubs is 35. We basically threw caution to the wind once we got to Mexico for our wedding thinking whatever will be will be(and that it would take a while to actually get pregnant)....well sure enough, I'm pregnant! We couldn't be any happier! We are both a little older, have done lots of travelling, lots of life living, lots of partying. We have bought our home, both have great jobs (I'm an RN and he is a journeyman electrician). I would say that what ever you feel is right for you and your husband is completely your decision. I don't think you are ever truly prepared for what this journey will bring, but as long as it's a mutual decision and you are both happy, I say go for it!!
  7. I met my husband on Plenty of Fish...lol, has a pretty bad rep, but somehow I found a good fish! There was a lot of bad fish to weed through...then when we started talking, we ended up taking it quite slow, emailing back and forth, then eventually texting, and finally phone calls...after about two months we made a date....and I cancelled. But then we made another date, and literally haven't left each other's side since!
  8. Looks great!! I ended up getting lacy hanky panky's, they were blue, but they have ivory and white ones as well!
  9. You do?! I am a labour and delivery nurse! That is too funny! I knew I liked you! Haha
  10. Hi ladies!! Winter is in full swing here...just got over a foot of snow and it is ridiculously cold...bring on Christmas! I have yet to unpack our leftover wedding stuff...I like to procrastinate!! And....I must tell this secret here since I can't say it anywhere else as of yet! Just found out that I am pregnant! Wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly but we are absolutely over the moon!! Yay! Now I have to keep the secret until Christmas...should be difficult! Hope everyone else is enjoying married life!
  11. We stayed for two weeks. It was absolutely amazing, but I can totally empathize with you on this one! We had 80 guests come along as well. My husbands family lives across the country for us, and we sort of felt as though most of our time was spent with them. I know that for the most part, everyone understood that we were pulled in so many directions, but we still felt the pressure!! I wouldn't have changed any of it though! We seriously had to pinch ourselves because there will never be a time again in our lives where we have 80 of our closest friends and family right there with us for a whole week..an exhausting, crazy week, but yay! Lol We actually planed on staying two weeks with the second being our honeymoon...but many people decided to stay on for part of all if that week. It was really nice for some reasons as we got to see those we hadn't had the chance to visit as much, but we never got a whole lot of alone time...time to plan another trip!!
  12. Hey ladies! I am already two days away from being a wife for a month! Crazy!! The wedding was absolutely perfect! I couldn't have asked for anything better!! How was everyone else's day???
  13. Happy wedding day!! Hope everything is better than you ever imagined!
  14. Our resort was also ridiculously expensive for all other laundry services...but usually the wedding dress is around this price. They actually called twice after I sent it down to confirm that I was ok with the charge!!
  15. I had mine cleaned at the resort after I did a trash the dress in the ocean and the pool" they charged me $80. The best money I spent! It came back looking and smelling amazing! It can cost $200-400 here so I am happy!
  16. We had a symbolic ceremony in Mexico on October 23, and just got legally married here last weekend. We arrived on Saturday and our wedding was in Thursday. It was actually perfect! We had 80 people and those days before helped everyone get to know each other, which made the wedding that much ex awesome because everyone knew each other and the party was fantastic! No one held back! Lol I just layered in my sunscreen but didn't stay out of the sun at all, and my guests were also diligent in calling me over to help reapply the sunscreen! Lol I am seriously pale, and had no tan lines and no burn! My dress was a zip up...I did not even pay attention to what I ate or drank...and I didn't have any issues fitting into the dress. I think it is so hot you sweat as much as you eat!
  17. You don't need to contact any of the vendors. The wedding staff coordinates everything for you. When you have your meeting with your coordinator before the wedding, you can tell them any requests and they will make it happen. Just trust them! They do a great job!
  18. The weather forecast is basically a lie. Don't worry about it! We were there for two weeks and it called for raj every single day. We had a day and a half of rain...the rest had tiny little showers that lasted 10-15 minutes I. The afternoons. Don't worry! It will be great!
  19. The rules basically apply to men only...ladies can wear what they like!
  20. I brought glass votive holders...I packed them in shoe boxes and put them in my carry on for the trip down. I think one or two broke at the wedding. On the way home I packed them into checked luggage between chair bows and they made it back intact!
  21. Yes, we only had one floral centrepiece. They had it on the table behind the minister at the ceremony, and then they moved it to the head table. You can see in the pictures a little bit of what was on the head table...I brought tea lights and tea light holders that were wrapped in twine, white paper bag luminaries(they were easy to pack and cheap!) and put an led light inside, table numbers and burlap and lace table runners. That's it. Simple, but it looked really beautiful. Oh, I also had 22 paper lantern balls hanging from the ceiling. I just told them to do whatever looked best and they hung them at different lengths and it was perfect. I would agree with building in time. We had our ceremony at 4...and at about 2 it was pouring, so we almost went with the back up, until 15 min later it was beautiful, so ceremony started about 4:15pm or so. I also had our cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30pm, and then the reception started at 7 and we extended it to midnight. Three hours would not have been enough. And the food...seriously...it was so so good, our guests were also raving about how good it was! I guess my thoughts are the same as @@Stack02, I figured that these people came for us, and the costs were less than having an at home wedding so I couldn't imagine not having them at dinner. We both also found that sitting at the head table, we talked about the day and it really helped to relax us and let us really take it all in! It goes by so fast! We found ways to cut back to make it a little more reasonable(hiring outside DJ, no floral centrepieces, no OOT bags). Oh, and the bar was already set up, I did not pay for it! I was also worried about that but trust me, there was no shortage of drinks!! Good luck with your choice!
  22. Okay ladies, here are a couple pictures...I don't have many right now, so I will post some more when get them! My sisters and I and my three ring bearers and one of two flower girls (they are also my nephews and niece) A close up of my makeup done in the salon This is the included centrepiece that came with the divine package. Smelled amazing! The view from our balcony. Not ocean front which is what we wanted but still a great view and room! Okay! I have a couple more! My dad walking me down the aisle. I'm certain that he cried more than me! My Uncle was our minister...it was so great! We do!!! Our entrance into the reception in the Bamboo Room Our speech
