We actually went with a photographer from Canada. It's kind of weird, but I found @@Tamra on BDW! They are from North Bay, Ontario, which is my fiancé's home town. His work is awesome and we are so so excited to have them join us!!

Has anyone had rectangular tables in the bamboo room for their reception? How many do they seat? Just thought they might look a little different and I like that!! Any thoughts? -
Finally decided on a photographer!! So now I can sit back and relax...or I guess I should try to get the grooms/groomsmen attire and bridesmaid attire in order!!

OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

I had inquired about this with our travel agent and she informed me that this was not honoured by them. But they do give us our second week as our honeymoon for free. So that works out well for us I guess! -

Getting money back all depends on where you live and how your travel agents work. In Canada, our travel is all through WestJet Vacations and they do not offer this for group bookings. -
OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

While I can see how people may be overwhelmed by the cost of so many people, I just have to play the other side here. We have almost 100 people attending our wedding which is way more than we had originally thought, but I couldn't imagine not having every single person at our reception dinner or even thinking of having them pay for it! The fact is that the cost will still be considerably less than a wedding we would have had in our home town! And every person who is attending is already paying to join us for a week, also having to take vacation from work, find babysitters etc. I think that providing everyone with dinner and allowing them to be a part of our whole wedding day is the absolute least I can do to say thank you for being there and celebrating with us. I guess I feel like if you have an extremely limited budget, you need to consider the size of your guest list prior to what you can afford and/or wish to have. I hope I don't offend anyone, I just feel like if I was invited to a destination wedding and made the time and paid my way to get there and then was not invited to the dinner I would be pretty upset. -
When To Contact A Travel Agent?
candle23 replied to carmor2's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I would definitely say to start talking to travel agents, we had to speak with a few before we found someone that we actually clicked with! And the departure dates do change, we sent out our save the dates in December 2013, after confirming dates of October 19-26, but then changed to October 18-25 when the flight schedule came out in early January. It actually worked out better for us since we now leave on a Saturday and get home Saturday which allows people one day to relax before having to go back to work! -
It is a lot!!! At first we were completely overwhelmed, our idea for having a destination wedding was to keep it small and to save money. But we feel so lucky to think that so many people want to be there to share in our day with us! And I'm also stressed!! Our resort package, like many, is only for 25 people so we have to pay for each person after that...oh well!! When we add up how much a wedding at home would cost, it really is reasonable!! With having so many though, we have decided against OOT bags and are just giving out travel mugs instead. And we won't be able to organize and pay for an excursion like we had wanted to, but I think we will still have a blast!

I attached a picture of the dress I ordered and of the actual dress I got. Before I ever even thought about doing this, I had tried on dresses at two different bridal stores. I was having a really hard time with how much money one dress could cost! And to even fathom doing a trash the dress after spending $1500-2000 on a dress!! Anyways, the dresses that I thought I would love ended up looking horrible on me, and then I found a dress that I really liked but wanted to make changes to which would have cost me even more!n Then I found this thread....I didn't even know that ordering from China was even a possibility! I searched and searched, and found this style which is almost identical to the dress I really liked but it had the sweetheart neckline which I really loved! When I first found this dress, it was on sale....but after thinking about it and looking at it multiple times a day, when I was finally ready to order, it was back to full price of over $600. I wasn't ready to pay that, so I thought my experience would end there....but I am persistent, and two weeks later it went on sale again! I ordered immediately! Input my order in on February 9, and chose the cheapest shipping method. My wedding isn't until October so I wasn't in any hurry. Amy at Dressilyme was in contact with me almost immediately. I had asked for pictures prior to sending and she said that they couldn't do that but to feel confident that it would be perfect. She also said that it would be 30-45 days to make and 10 days to ship. Fine with me. In February 26, I got confirmation that my dress was completed and had been shipped! And it arrived at my door on February 28!! Wow! I did order it custom to my measurements, which turned out amazing! The dress literally fits like a glove! The only part is that the corset back at the too comes almost together, but it think if I wear a bra or undergarment under it it will close into the v shape that a corset back should be. The original is in white, and I ordered mine in ivory. The color is perfect. The actually quality of the dress is amazing, just like any dress I tried on in a bridal store! Maybe a few stray threads here and there but that it easy enough to fix! The lace on the dress is definitely different than that in the original, but it is very pretty. I think I like the lace in the picture better, but I am still happy with what I received. The only alteration that really needs to be done is a bustle. Also, I read somewhere that people dresses smelled funny...there is no smell on my dress at all! Lol Overall, I would definitely order from this site again! My bridesmaids are checking out dresses they might like and I will probably order them from here as well. Funniest part is that when my fiancé and I spoke about wedding dress budget, he suggested it be $500, to which I laughed and laughed....but now who has the last laugh!? All in I paid $360 with custom sizing, shipping, and I had to pay another $20 when it arrived for customs. Best thing I did, now I can't wait to wear it on our we doing day!

We met on a dating website as well! Although we almost didn't end up meeting since I cancelled our first date after finding out some bad health news. But after my sister insisted I reschedule, we went to dinner and hasn't left my side since!!

Our TA is paying for our second week, but we would have had to pay a ridiculous amount to go to another resort so we are just staying 2 weeks at our wedding resort, The Now Jade in Mexico. Hopefully not too many others will be staying as we are looking forward to a little relaxation after a week with 100 of our friends and family!!

I got my dress!! I was shocked to see that the box was so tiny, but they said that they try to fit it in a small box to save in shipping so that was okay with me! I ended up having to pay about $23 extra on delivery...not sure if anyone else has had to do this? I left to my sisters house to meet up with my bridal party(my three sisters) and all had a good laugh about the box....we pulled it out to hang it up and air out before dinner, and it was perfect! Not a wrinkle on it!! So I tried it on! It fits like a glove!! The lace is different than what the picture shows on the website but it is really pretty! I had it custom made for my measurements and changed the colour from white to ivory and I am very happy with the colour that it is!! Feeling so relieved! Also, the shipping was crazy fast, the whole process really! I ordered on February 9, and it was shipping on February 26 and here two days later! I can't figure out how to attach a picture on here though! I will work on it....

I am patiently waiting here for UPS to come deliver! Already had to call and argue with them as the online tracking states that delivery was attempted....but it was not! Hopefully it will come soon, going to have dinner with my three sisters and want them there when I try it on! I chose an ivory color and did the custom sizing. I am hoping that it is perfect!! Will post when I have a chance to see it and try it on!

Are Favors And/or Oot Bags Must Do?
candle23 replied to misbosox's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think we are just going to do tumblers instead of an OOT bag since we will have close to 100 people! And for favours, I am leaning towards something inexpensive....I agree that they often get forgotten and/or thrown out shortly after he wedding and I would rather spend the money on something people can actually enjoy! -
Who is marrying you??
candle23 replied to Trace2013's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are going to have a "symbolic" ceremony that will be legal in Canada as we are having my Uncle, who is a pastor here officiate. It works out perfectly, we are going to be officially married on the date and won't have to get all that extra work done to make it legal in Canada!
