  1. I had booked the wedding myself directly through the resort and they won't honor the complimentary cocktail party for me. I had mention I read that other brides were able to get "grandfathered" in and they're asking for names. If anyone was able to get grandfathered in for the complimentary cocktail, could you please let me know your name and wedding date? I'm hoping to really secure this promotion. Not fair!
  2. I've been MIA with planning but after glancing at my planner, I've realized I gotta get moving on planning this wedding!! Good luck to everyone out there. My next step is to book photographer and videographer. Adventure is through the resort right? So we don't need to pay vendor fees? I found a pretty cool company in Mexico but it would have been $5,000 for both video & pictures. Just sounds too ridiculous to cost almost as much as our whole wedding. How did your wedding go Lou!?? Let us know the deets I got the Platinum Package? Or whichever is the highest one.. and I think the cocktail reception is complimentary up to 20 people. I'll have to look into that as well! Thanks for the tip tkennerson!!

Hi Future MDB! My wedding is set for August 2, 2014! Congrats to you too! Keep me updated, I'd love to see how yours turns out and if you have any tips/suggestions for me

Well, Last week something changed and I was advised by my wedding planner that I could have my reception on the deck on June 6th. Save the dates have been sent out already, so I'm not sure if to change it or not. My family and friends have said that they do not have a problem with it, as they would arrive on Thursday either ways, i've seen pictures of the terrace and the deck and obviously there are more pictures of the deck...i'm not sure what to do!! If your heart was really settled on the pool deck, 2 days earlier is not a big deal! I had originally ordered save the dates for a completely different resort and date but changed last minute to Dreams Rivera Cancun! I had even put the stamps on and everything so I had to carefully tear them off to re-use them Where is the reception for June 8th?
  6. Any advice for booking a photographer? I know one is included in the package but I haven't even read the details yet.

Our wedding is August 2nd so I'll get worried maybe in May or so if I haven't heard from them by then.

Anyone have similar issue? It's only 100.00 but still... Honestly, I haven't even looked at the photo packages! Oh dear, haha!

Hi, so when I was initially looking into booking rooms through a Travel Agent they had mentioned that incentive. It basically means for whatever 5 rooms you book through the Travel Agent/Resort, the 6th room is free. You can get up 3 free rooms max. The value of that could be up to $3,0000 so to me.. that is probably one of the best incentives of all! You can even put it towards your wedding, your own stay or any of your guests. I was really confused at first too because I couldn't get it through my head that I could I really get free rooms! But it's true, you can! I would ask your Travel Agent for more details

After researching some more and finding more photos of receptions held by the deck, it does really look amazing and I can't wait!!!

The only problem is I can't find pictures of it except for the one stock photo they provide. I want the entire ballroom because I may have over 100 people and I don't want to be crowded. Now I am wondering if it rains if they will divide up the ballroom for the other wedding on that day. Does anyone have any information about this, or any pictures of the ballroom? Anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks! Congrats everyone! Hey Heidi! This website is totally great and so helpful! I haven't seen any wedding photos from the ballroom besides the stock photos they offer but nonetheless, it still looks amazing!

Sounds like you've got everything handled! Unfortunately, we haven't even heard back from the resort in regards to blocking off rooms : Does anyone know if we book the hotel + flight together do we still get the room incentives like the "book 5 rooms, 6th is free?" As far as our wedding party goes, we're taking them out to dinner next Friday and that's when we'll be officially asking them! Congrats again!
  13. Just noticed that there isn't a thread for 2014 Brides! Figured I start it since I find it really helpful Here's my little shpiel. Hi Ladies We just reserved our wedding for August 2, 2014 Saturday. We're booked for 5pm ceremony at the gazebo, 8pm reception on the pool deck. Highly considering swapping out the cocktail hour and putting that money towards the reception. We just sent out our save the dates this week and friends and family are starting to receive them which is pretty exciting, but gives me anxiety at the same time haha. Our wedding website is thelagunas.com if anyone would like to view it. Our friend who is a graphic designer set it up for us and created the logos for us as well. It's a work in progress and I'll also be blogging along the way to share details, events etc. with friends and family. I wanted to share it here to kind of "pay it forward" because all the other brides have been so extremely helpful with sharing wedding videos, costs, websites etc. So I figured, hey why not! Our wedding is about 10 months from now. Ahhh! Things that we've checked off the list: 1) Booked resort, set the date 2) Save The Dates sent! (we chose to go with a simple postcard that had our logos and website info for people to hop online for more details. I ordered the postcards from Vistaprint 100 for $18 or so but with shipping it ended up being a little less than $40. I thought we would save money with postage since we're sending postcards, but no I was wrong. Still the standard 0.46 stamp) 3) Got the dress (designer is Tadashi Shoji <<< super flowy, chiffon, and elegant but simple and the best part.. AFFORDABLE!) 4) Wedding party decided (more details about this will go up on the website!) I feel pretty productive so far but it's only just begun. I'm excited for the wedding planning process and thank goodness for the internet. I don't know how brides planned weddings without online forums, instagram, or pinterest. Anyway, good luck to everyone!

  15. jillann13- I saw some pictures of the Pool Terrace and it looks just a great as the Pool Deck (at least to me)! I also am looking to substitute the Cocktail Hour and I read somewhere on these forums that they were able to get a credit of ~$800, but I'm sure it's something you'll have to negotiate with your wedding coordinator. You can apply this credit towards dinner or costs of the wedding. I believe some brides just told their guests to go to a nearby bar because everywhere is all inclusive. Hope this helps
  16. I just saw your personal website and your wedding details. Wow! Thanks for all the shared tips/pictures/help I love it and can't wait. Hoping to send our save the dates out this weekend and our friend is setting up the website for us. Can't wait, 10 months will come super fast!
  17. Thanks for the help Savs1027! I was thinking of nixxing the Cocktail Hour as well and using that credit towards dinner. And good to know that the bouquets can be cheaper than $100. Your wedding looked gorgeous! Thanks for the visuals on what a reception on the deck would look like. I love having the infinity pool as the background. I noticed that you also opted for the dance floor.. do you think I would need that? Or is the deck good enough.
  18. Just confirmed my wedding at Dreams Riviera for August 2, 2014 Saturday!! We're booked for the gazebo at 5pm and then the deck at 8pm. I have a ton of questions so if anyone out there is reading, let me know! We actually had originally booked Now Jade for our wedding but decided to cancel it once we heard Dreams was a lot better. I just received my budget planner and I love how organized it is, but hating the "total" cost up top Does anyone know if they preferred the beach location for reception? I've seen their pictures for it and it looks amazing, the deck.. not so much : I really wanted the pool terrace but it's not available on Saturdays. Do we really need a cocktail hour? Couldn't our guests just venture to one of the nearby bars for drinks? Right now for 75 guests, it costs $1800. Did anyone order flowers from an outside vendor? $100/bridesmaid bouquets sounds ridiculous. Help!!
  19. I was feeling the same way and have been trying to contact someone at their wedding email. I finally contacted them through their Facebook and mentioned how hard it's been to get any responses and they messaged me back saying they'll have the Pilar contact me soon. And Pilar JUST contacted me a couple hours ago!! Woo hoo finally. So it's been a month that I've been trying to reach her, but don't give up hope! She'll get back to you soon
  20. I just ended up contacting them today so i hope to hear back from them soon. What are the costs to have a travel agent??
  21. Aww, we're definitely having kids come (my nieces & nephews). A lot of the adult only resorts look really nice!
  22. I'm also newly engaged and looking to get married in Cancun! We were considering Cabo at first because it would be a short flight from where we live (San Diego), but we've heard nothing but good things about Cancun (plus you can't go in the beach at Cabo!) I've actually been looking at Now Jade. Let me know if you're going through a travel agent, I need a suggestion for a good one. The one I've been initially communicating with does not get back to my emails fast enough and it's very stressful when you're trying to plan a destination wedding! Congratulations again!
  23. I'm also newly engaged and considering having my wedding here in July 2014. We're still looking into Cabo or Cancun, but I'm really liking Now Jade. I want to decide soon so I can get the whole process started for our guests so they know to save etc.
