NOW LARIMAR BRIDES

Thanks so much for the info!!!!! I will definitely take that into consideration! I am considering the night club too, but I was curious about how long the reception could last since the night club is open every night....Do you remember what time it opened? -

And does anyone have any pics of a ballroom wedding reception setup? I want to get ideas of what the basic room looks like so I can determine what decor to use! Thanks! -

I was reading on a general forum thread about site visits. Apparently this can be negotiated with the resorts. Has anyone done this or attempted to do this with Now? Did they offer you a free or reduced stay? -

As far as the planning, this website helped me so much!!! But above all, do not stress!! Everything turned out beautifully, I wouldn't have changed a single thing!!! Let me know if you have any more ?s or friend req me on FB to see pics!!! Hey jennifer8913 I'd love to see some pics as well! Can you PM your Facebook info so I can see? Thanks so much!

Any one work with Pastor Rick York??
duchovny0901 replied to mrullo's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
We just booked his services for a symbolic ceremony next August. He does do the sand ceremony, as that's what we are doing. We aren't super religious but wanted a Pastor to preside over the ceremony to make it feel a little bit more traditional. His ceremonies can be done in English. Hope this helps! -

OMG everything looked gorgeous! Your colors were beautiful and so was your dress (from what I can see)! Your tables looked simple yet elegant. What did you do for music at dancing (resort DJ or outside vendor)? How long did the party last? Thanks again for sharing! -

That's so good to hear!! I heard about the rooms being far away from the beach but it doesn't seem like its a problem. I know that you posted in the other thread some pics of the centerpieces you were using which were so pretty! I'm not that talented. LOL. I'd love to see your reception setup and how it turned out, along with pictures of your ceremony at the fountain (I'm getting married there too)! I soooo want to bring all of my own decor like you since I want to save cash. And since you said Luisa did a good job of setting up your decor, I'd love to get the overall picture! Thanks so much for sharing! -

I have the Divine Package as well. MAC seems to be a good product for makeup so I'm not worried there. I am worried about the stylist's experience with my hair texture though! LOL. My sister, who's also a hair stylist, is my Maid of Honor. I think I'm going to assign this as one of her duties! -

Quote:Originally Posted by bethlorentz I heard back from Luisa yesterday too! She did a great job of answering my questions, and I also got that excel spreadsheet! I am hoping to move my ceremony time from 6 to either 4 or 5 though now that I see a lot of the reception sites "close" at 10pm. I am 99% sure I will do my ceremony at the fountain and I am still unsure about my reception site. I am going to do the silver buffet, unsure about dj, unsure about photo/video at this point... I am going to shop around and make sure the resort is the best deal! Someone asked about centerpieces... I think I will use whatever I get for my reception back home so I can use them twice! I am not big on things like decorations and I am NOT a flower person! I really just want a big party I will probably end up doing some sort of vase with water and flowers/rocks. It is probably going to be hard to pack those, but I shouldn't need too many. Is anyone else doing the fountain? Are you bringing things to decorate that space? Is anyone doing any group outings/excursions? I want to either go on a catamaran or another type of "booze cruise" but I will only do it if they take you somewhere with calm water as I get super sea sick!!! Happy planning everyone! So glad I found this site Beth I am doing the fountain ceremony. I'm planning on doing the full fountain setup (under add'l services) which includes: the white tulle for the gazebo, 2 tropical flower arrangements for the posts, ceremony table & centerpiece, wooden walkway w/ runner, and pommanders. I may change this plan though; I saw a wedding via YouTube at the fountain and one bride just had her wedding party walk down both sides of the fountain. I really don't want to pay $1500 for a wooden walkway I'm going to be on for like 30 seconds, but you only have one wedding, right?! I'll see if I can save money other ways and fit it in the budget as time gets closer. I plan to bring my own sashes for the chairs. Luisa said they charge $1 per sash to set up though. -

I emailed Luisa this past Friday morning and received a response 3 hours later! Amazing! She sent me two attachments: the PDF detailing ceremony and reception locations, but I could not open the spreadsheet! I emailed her back stating that I couldn't open it. Maybe I have a newer version of excel than she does? Can someone email me the spreadsheet so I can see if I can open it? [email protected] Thanks so much! -
Any one work with Pastor Rick York??
duchovny0901 replied to mrullo's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Hi guys. I also emailed Pastor York and it came back undeliverable. Since he's worked with Now in the past I emailed my Wedding Coordinator and she gave me his email address as [email protected] . Good luck everyone! -
I agree with you Amy. I've read pretty much every review about the resort and wedding experiences on different websites and the good definitely outweigh the bad. I was worried too about the negative reviews but I also saw negative reviews for EVERY other resort I've looked in to. I'm a positive person and am not too picky, so I am confident that your wedding and all of our wedding experiences will be awesome.

Quote:Originally Posted by bethlorentz @duchovny0901 Congrats to you too! I have NO CLUE where I am going to do my dinner and dancing! Any suggestions? I will absolutely not be renting a restaurant though (not in the budget.) What have you seen other big groups do? I would love to be outside, but I just haven't really looked at the options yet. What are you doing for photography, dj, ceremony, etc.? I've been reading the forums for about 2 months and have noticed that in terms of reception everyone does everything! People have rented out a restaurant and some have had receptions on the beach as well as pool side. I can't recommend anything personally but I know what the limits are in terms of dinner guests for certain locations. For instance if you have your reception pool side, it can only be buffet style but it provides room for up to 100 guests. If you want to have a sit down dinner in a restaurant (but you don't want to rent out the entire thing) you'll get a reserved "section" of the restaurant but the max is 25 guests. So it all depends on what you want in terms of privacy as well as amount of people. So far, I've confirmed a 4pm fountain ceremony on 8/30/14. I wanted it to be more private (no beach onlookers!). For a DJ we requested pricing for DJ Mannia, as the company appears to be a HUGE hit with all the destination weddings. Plus the person they assign to you is the DJ and MC, whereas Now apparently charges for each separately. We are comparing pricing with the resort right now to see if their rates are comparable. As for photography we are going to stick with the resort's onsite company, WBA. We like their online photoalbum and don't want to pay the $500 outside vendor fee! We are bringing our own decor to save on costs as well (I love eBay!). So the only thing we have to pick is the dinner and dancing site! We still have over a year but I don't want to wait until the last minute to decide.... -

@ bethlorentz Congrats on your upcoming wedding! What a big group! I'm just curious about your reception location choices; where are you planning to have dinner and dancing? I am expecting roughly the same amount of guests and am debating about having the reception in the Ballroom; there's not too many options with such a large group! I'm trying to avoid paying the $5k fee to rent out a restaurant.... -

We've been assigned Luisa Miranda. I've heard nothing but great things about her from the Now Larimar forums so I'm excited. I preparing a list of questions to ask her but it's so lengthy that I think maybe I need to cut it up so she won't think I'm overzealous! -

Thanks! We are planning either a ballroom or Eclipse Nightclub reception with buffet dinner and DJ Mannia. It looks like we are having closer to 70 people so that limits us on reserving certain reception locations. Who's your wedding coordinator? -

How much is the outside vendor DJ fee? I know some people have booked DJ Mannia for next year and I wanted to know if the $500 vendor fee for the photographer applied to the DJ as well. I think someone mentioned $150 before....Thanks guys. -

amberk90 congrats!!! I have the fountain ceremony too at 4pm August 30 next yr! How exciting! What are you planning on doing for the reception in terms of location?! -
@ mvee I read the same thing that jennifer8913 said. You can request that your group be on the upper floors of the building if they have the availability. The rooms are located on the outside of the buildings. Additionally I hear the Bavaro Building is the newest one on the resort and closer to the beach. They have a map on the website that shows the building locations.
