  1. Just a little info to brides that are flying into Punta Cana after November 14, 2014: If you haven't purchased your airline tix yet, Southwest starts flying international! I found this out a few weeks ago and WISH they did this earlier in the year. I'm a fan of their reasonable airfare and their 2 free checked bags per person policy. This would've saved us some money considering we have at least 2 large bags between us and have to pay for each one, and we're giving stuff to our guests to carry too! If all of your guests fly Southwest, you could basically carry all of your wedding items for free! Hopefully someone's able to use this for their wedding travel!
  2. @Cwright Thanks and no problem! I had the same dilemma; since our wedding is going to be during one of the hottest times of the year I figured I'd just play it safe. Plus the hubby pretty much sweats just by breathing (lol) so that wouldn't look too great in pics! We did decide to use the resort photographers (WBA) to save the $500 vendor fee. Our wedding package comes with ceremony pics and video, so we are going to pay for a photo shoot after the ceremony. We are debating on the "getting ready" pics though, because WBA charges $150 for 10 photos of the groom getting ready so we are really trying to see if its worth it. We will have audience participation for the reception and have them post pics to a wedding app. I've heard other brides do this and since we have over 80 people coming, someone's bound to take good photos!
  3. @@Cwright congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I'm getting married this August and decided to do a fountain ceremony due to privacy as well. All the pics I've seen of ceremonies held there are awesome, especially because there's no one photo bombing the pics in their bikinis! Hahaha! I am booking the ballroom as well due to privacy but also because we can party up til midnight with a large group. I looked into the eclipse terrace at first but when my party became so huge, ot wasn't a possibility. Plus the time schedule didnt fit (club opens at 1030pm) and I didn't want my reception cut short. The only thing with the ballroom is that I heard its super plain, like a meeting room, so you might have to jazz it up with decor. we're bringing almost everything down to decorate! Hope this helps and happy planning!
  4. @@A7Xtrish I am using pencil starfish for my centerpieces (they're off white and slim). I purchased a pack of 30 from eBay for a very reasonable price ($22.95). They are between 3-4 inches across, and the sizes in the bunch vary between these measurements. But if you want them all exactly the same size, I saw a pack of 3 at JoAnn's Fabric stores for $5.99. Hope this helps!
  5. Thanks @@Tiffany Ellison! That's great to hear. I'm trying to save cash and not extend the reception for longer than we have to!
  6. Oh also to any past brides, what did you and your guests do after the reception? We are planning to go to the nightclub on the resort and was wondering how the vibe is in there!
  7. @@Tiffany Ellison Thanks so much for your review! I am also getting married at the fountains on August 30 and I was wondering where the cocktail hour would be held! I just had a few questions if you don't mind: Did you pick your own dinner menu? (did you select items from both the silver and the platinum dinner menus?) Did your coordinator print a menu for your group? What did you do for music during cocktail hour (if any)? What type of package did you book with the on-site photographers, and how long did they stay with you (start time and finish time)? I was wondering how much of the reception they capture in their packages. I may have to rely on friends and family for pics (like @@DestiBride !) during the later part of the evening but I'm not sure if I can! LOL Thanks for your help, and Congrats to you and your new hubby!
  8. @@DestiBride Congratulations! I'm so excited that your wedding was a blast! I'd love to see photos as well! Also, how was the temp in Castaways during your reception? I know it's covered but in terms of heat and humidity were you & your guests comfortable? What time was your reception and what were your food choices? Did you have assigned seating and menus created? What was the order of your reception (first dance, cake cutting, food, get the party started, etc)? I booked the resort photographer as well and am curious as to how much of the reception they get in their photos. Thanks in advance!
  9. Hey all! Just wanted to give you guys a quick tip; if you REALLY REALLY want something at your wedding, all you have to do is ask. I know it sounds logical, but I wanted to let you know that not EVERYTHING in the Now Larimar Wedding Guide is written in stone.... So here was my issue... I'd been freaking out for the past several weeks because my guest list is so big (almost 70 adults). I read in the guide that the resort wants to serve us buffet style. My fiance feels strongly about having a plated dinner, as our guests are spending so much to fly down and stay at the resort, he thinks that the least they could do is give us a plated dinner on our wedding day! I completely agreed. We just didn't think that so many people would go with us so I just assumed that we'd always have the plated option. I contacted Luisa (my WC) and told her yeah, we have a lot of people but we still wanted to be served plates. She said that our guests would have to serve themselves at a buffet. I then asked if at least the same options on the plated menu could be the same for the buffet. She said no, we'd have to pick items from the buffet menu only. I looked through the buffet menu and wasn't too crazy about the options they had. Additionally, the resort charges EXTRA for buffet style per person ($55+tax for platinum menu), which I find crazy because it takes less work off the servers now that everyone has to make their own plate! So I sent her a lengthy email about how I felt and how this is my one special day and went on and on....While I was waiting for her I'd began researching other reception sites (Jellyfish and Kukua Beach Club) as a backup plan. She wrote me back a few days later, agreeing to have my entire group served plated! She said it would be $5/extra per plate for guests over the 50 guest limit in the Platinum Package though, due to additional servers being needed and the time it will take to serve all of us. I agreed and now I get to have the steak and lobster menu that I wanted originally! 115 days to go and I can finally relax!
  10. @@cindy2013 Thanks for sharing! Your wedding and party look amazing!!!!!
  11. @@MrandMrsBonitto2016 Just wanted to let you know that Bego got back to me within a few hours and sent me the info you shared (thanks again) so I already had a ton of questions and ideas of what I wanted. She said she'd have a "pre invoice" on Friday for me! So exciting! Thanks again for your help! I think everything's gonna fall into place....
  12. Hi everyone! I'm getting married in 4 months and am just finding out about this restaurant! I'm in a panic because my resort only wants to serve my guests buffet-style when there are over 50 people! Now I'm panicking with a last minute dinner reception change! Bego has gotten back to me already about the basics and has confirmed that my date is available. Now I just have to figure out A MILLION other things! Hopefully you guys have already figured out some of these questions: Does anyone know how their transport works? Like do they pick up and drop off at the resort only at one specific time? Is the club air conditioned? How long does the reception typically last? Has anyone hired any performers (saxaphonist, fire dancers, etc)? How were they? Decorations - does Bego provide all of them and charge separately for each item rented, or does she quote a package price for everything you want? How does the breakdown of the open bar work? Is it like if dinner is from 7-8p then we'd pay $5/pp for "dinner drinks", then from 8-11p we have an international bar at $15/pp per hr? And if we wanted the open bar throughout dinner and the reception we'd just go 7-11p at $15/pp per hr? Sorry for bombarding but we have such a limited time!!! Thanks for your help ladies!
  13. Just found this forum! I am getting married at Now Larimar and am considering a last minute change to have a reception at Kukua; the resort only wants to serve us buffet style when we have over 50 guests and we want plated. Plus this venue looks more intimate! Bego just got back to me with all the basic info, but I have like a ton of other questions! Does anyone know about table and venue decor? Was most of it provided for a specific fee or did you bring your own? Also did anyone use the TV or Projector for pics?
  14. @@MrandMrsBonitto2016 Seriously, you are AMAZING! Thanks so much for the info! I hope someone contacts me back soon!
  15. @@MrandMrsBonitto2016 Thank you so much! I'm trying not to panic, but we have less than 130 days now! LOL
  16. @@MrandMrsBonitto2016 I don't know! So here's the issue... because my party is so big now (over 60 guests) the resort wants to serve us buffet style. My fiance feels strongly about having a plated dinner, as our guests are spending so much to fly down and stay at the resort, he thinks that the least they could do is give us a plated dinner on our wedding day! I completely agree. We just didn't think that so many people would go with us so I just assumed that we'd always have the plated option. Additionally, the resort charges EXTRA for buffet style per person, which I find crazy because it takes less work off your servers now that everyone has to make their own plate! So I'm trying to negotiate with the resort and my wedding coordinator, but if they don't budge, I need to have a backup plan! I just hope it's not too late.... I contacted Jellyfish Thursday evening via email about their availability on my wedding day and they haven't got back to me yet. I read through the forum though and realize they are super busy. Just curious, how long did it take them to get back to you?
  17. @@Mrsoats I just google mapped it. Lol. From Majestic Colonial to Jellyfish it looks to be between 22 and 25 mins. I was trying to find out the same thing from my resort (Now Larimar) so I just looked at the distances on the map. Hope this helps!
  18. @@DR2015 I read waaayyyy back in the forum that they still charge this fee. I believe that the person who posted this was WBA. I'll double check to see if I can find it again! @@DR2015 It's on page 5 of this forum posted by WBA in response to another inquiry.
  19. @@MrandMrsBonitto2016 Hey girl! Can you send me that pricing info as well?! drenna@@gmail.com Thanks! @@MrsMartinez2B Sorry I'm late to the party. LOL. But can you forward me your info too?! drenna@@gmail.com Thanks!
