  1. I thought I was the only one that gained weight during their engagement. Glad I'm not alone!  Between people wanting to celebrate our engagment,  holidays and general summer fun it's been a downward spiral in that department. I've gotta buckle down though because I should be having my first fitting in about 10 weekssmile43.gif I know it's hard to go shopping when you're not feeling so hot about yourself but you'll look gorgeous in your dress!!!!    One good thing about having one picked out is then you know what body part(s) you need to work harder at toning!
Girl! I won't even go there. When I met the FI 2 1/2 yrs ago I was working out 6 days a week. Now I'm cooking 6 days a week and licking the spoon and bottom of the plate clean. He's slim, has a soccer physique I guess. I have to work suuuuuuuper hard to stay at a decent weight. Every 5 pounds I gain he's like " babe I swear I'm gonna get super supportive" as he is spooning cereal into his mouth at midnight. I know I know, he didn't make me gain weight I did it myself , but when I was single I didn't cook much. Made some boring chix and broccoli or had a lean cuisine standing at my counter. I love to cook and NOW I have an audience. We are Caribbean so rice, rice, rice. :( Started spinning again, slowly but surely. My arse is on fire tho. Lolol
  2. I've seen these done and they look great!!!! We all have stuff that is important to each of us. Mine was my dress, I ended paying below budget but when I told people my dress budget they thought I was from another planet.  Although I upgraded my cake at the resort I know people won't really eat it, they never do, I just did it for the pictures haha.  I think you're smart, if we were doing it here that was something we had talked about.
Yeah , since our wedding is actually at a restaurant off- property we would be paying for the local bakery. So I guess I'll see if I can take the pieces down and ill pay them to decorate it. :D I haven't even wanted to think of my dress. I've gained weight recently and I just don't wanna go there. I'd like to squeeze lipo into my budget.
  3. Found this Quote. Thought it was purrrrrfect . Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -

  4. So in my madness to save money I've thought of all the things I don't really care about and I've decided to have a faux cake. It's pretty cool. You buy these styrofoam pieces and the bakery decorates that. I plan on having desserts, and cupcakes/ sweets table. It's cheaper than paying 4-6 bucks a person. Lol. Don't judge me. Ill spend my money elsewhere . ;)
    Forgot the darn link http://www.sugarcraft.com/catalog/wedding/Wfakecakes.htm#misc

  6. Katya, please update us when you start a Huracan thread!  I saw one wedding that you did there, but if you have more than that one (Alexandra and Tyler), please let me know so I can see some more. I called them up and emailed Giacomo Zatti, but I am still waiting to hear back. I am really hoping for a June 29 date... thanks!
If you haven't done so already I'd suggest joining the FB page J.fish brides. It's helpful and Mayte occasionally goes on to send messages.
  7. Thanks!  I didn't think there was much waste at all!  I would say I probably spent $1 or less per invite!! I really only bought a few pack of cards and the template.  The paper we already had!! Good luck.  It IS quite a bit of work, but totally worth it!!  These things sell for $5-8 per invite if you have them made!
Ohhhh, so you actually printed on Orange cards? I thought it was card stock that you folded, Cool Thanks
  8. Hi ladies, I'm new to this particular Forum. I looked it up though because I'm having the same problem. I can't believe from reading in here how many OF THE MEN are the ones opposed to getting married at home first. I thought it was just mine having chic tendencies. Lol! He too said, I don't want to have two anniversaries and get married twice. Meanwhile I'm just all over the practicality of it! Plus , in many psychological ways I think it will take the edge off for me , knowing its only symbolic in DR and that its already said and done I'm having stage fright nightmares . Lol So , I have a year to convince him this is the way to go ...:eek:

  9. I am so excited to share my DIY Passport Invites!!  With help from SO many girls on this forum, and Aylee Bits $10 template -- http://www.ayleebits.com/2009/03/09/passport-invitation-template/ -- I am finally ready to put them together and send them out!  I used an orange metallic cardstock from Joann's for the cover and a thicker high-grade printer paper for the inside pages.  I used VistaPrint to create my free reply postcards!  Feel free to ask ANY questions!! The $10 template was the best money I ever spent!! I was thinking about finishing it off with a ribbon around the bind?? I've seen that done a lot and think it makes a nice finishing touch.  What do you think? DSC00613.JPG DSC00616copy.jpg DSC00619.JPG DSC00623copy.jpg DSC00626copy.jpg DSC00629.JPG DSC00632.JPG
Awesome job!!! My colors too. Will have to look into this. Was there alot of waste? I have to make about 60 of them , will I die? Lol. How much would you say it cost p/ invite. I wa Thanks for sharing!
  10. congrats! I'd say yes, depending on what you want and whats in that budget. Mayte at Jellyfish works with you and your price range. I'd sy for such a small group you should consider ordering right off the menu. Ill be the first to tell you, email both places NOW and see hat dates they have available. Or better yet, send them a few choice dates and they'll tell you what they have available. It books up quick. Give them at least a week or so to respond. ( I know, crazy) but they are super busy and the farther out you are they kinda backburner you . Yet, no brides complain of the final outcome. ;)

  11. I have seen lots of pictures where it looks beautiful and I definitely know what you mean about the same dress on every body. That's why I wanted to at least give them an option. The other 5 bridesmaids truly love the dresses and they're all very different girls (style, size, etc).  I honestly haven't seen a wedding where a bridesmaid comes out and I think to myself what was the bride thinking...as a bride I don't want anyone to look awful in my wedding party! My future sister in law wouldn't have been happy no matter what I chose. Unless I didn't get married in Mexico and gave her 18 months to lose weight because as soon as we got engaged she said "don't get married right away I need at least 18 months to lose weight".  We've been together for 4 years and I'm 31, unless we wanted to wait 18 months I wasn't going to do it for anyone else.  Sorry if that makes me a wench.
She sounds like a PIDA. I'd like 18 months to lose more weight but hell I'm the bride. Lol One of these days ill vent about my Bridesmaids ( or lack thereof) it's very woe is me. I can't get thru it without tearing up, and trust me that doesn't happen easily. The Only person I have confirmed as if now is my Step sister. 10 years ago I NEVER would ave imagined shed be my MOH. Life is funny that way. She too can be very difficult, has very uppity taste but hey she can afford it. I'm giving her free reign I think on what she wants to wear. She'd probably have it made or something. I don't care though, cuz at this point she's the only one of my " friends" who's been super supportive thru my relationship and now my engagement.
  12. It does? For some reason I thought they didn't. Either way I live between 2 BSC's which means I can ALWAYS get to a gym, even if I don't want to haha
I'm going to pick up a Boston layover one of these days , so we can have drinks. I was there last week. Had a great time at the Commons park. Some big festival and Shakespeare in the park. :0)
