  1. I'm planning early , but I have my October 31, 2014 wedding booked at Jellyfish. I'm leaning towards the Melia as well. It's seems mot are confused about where to have the ceremony. Although Melia gives u a general idea of why it will cost , does anyone know what it will cost over at Jellyfish. Still dealing with Mayte' s vague answers
  2. Ive communicated a few times the last week or so with her. Here's what I guess it comes down to. She is swamped, apparently working alone for the plans on most of the events. On more than one occasion she has asked me to simply " trust her" . She says my date is reserved although I have not and will not send her a deposit until we meet in the coming months. So although we are desperate for answers to our questions , those of us that have wedding next year need to take the back burner. I know it sucks and ts not what we are used to when deling with vendors here in the states but its kind of what we all signed up for when deciding to have weddings in another country. I guess when it's our turn she will give us 200% as she keeps telling me. I've decided to not keep writing her or a bit. Going to keep planning , book my resort and hope that things work out for the best. I'm sure they will
  3. October 2014 jellyfish and possibly the Melia
  4. Has anyone ever asked or used those cool Chinese fire lanterns on the beach outside of jellyfish? Are thy allowed? The ones that float away!
  5. Is anyone planning a fairly big DW. We might have to invite about 125 guests. ( that's cutting it down ALOT) just wondering what people's response rates were? Did most people say yes, or did the cost deter them? Lol. We are inviting a few be ause they are family and would be insulted, but honestly would be ok of they opted out. I feel bad saying it but honestly I hate having to leave out friends to invite certain family we haven't seen in ages.

  8. Yeah. I figured, just wish shed be a bit more specific. We've been trying to pull prices out of thin air. Not to mention that @ least here in the US you negotiate some of these things. Lol
  9. Has anyone ever asked Mayte the cost of a buffet? I'm starting to realize my questions to her need to be reaaaally specific. I wrote her " Do you have buffet options? " I don't see them listed. Her response... Yes , .... Lololol . So does anyone have a bit more specifics? Our Families love to eat, I like the idea of them getting a hearty mixed option meal.
  10. I think we are going to do the same. Maybe leave jellyfish invites I their rooms after check in. I also want to dis courage people going to their own resorts if they know the wedding is off property.
  11. It's funny you say that! People think I'm crazy when I say " we would have been married , but I dunno I like playing this house thing" . Lol! I too had not really spent too much time thinking of marriage. I guess I figured some day when I grow up ( I'm 34) hahaha. Yet here I am planning a destination wedding that's growing by the second. 0)
  12. My thoughts exactly. Besides there will always be a party going on for our anniversary. No ... I haven't picked a resort. I did decide I want the reception at the jellyfish. I asked her to hold the date for. Resort? Spoke with Patty a TA on here. I guess I'll keep reading and maybe visit a few places in August. I'm a flight attendant so it's certain,y easier for me than most to go check out the venues.
  13. Engaged less than 3 weeks. Picked date last night . October 31, 2014. Punta Cana . Halloweeeeeen wedding. Lol I'm gonna get a lot of hell for that one.
  14. I had a very good and informative conversation with Patty from "wright travel" she's a TA listed on here. She gave me a lot of info and I told her what I'm interested in. She's based in the wet oats but has visited the properties.
  15. I finally received a few responses from Mayte after a week or so. Pretty vague but I expected that from reading comments on here. I think we have decided on a date. October 31, 2014. I cannot wait to see the expression on ppl' s faces when they hear we are having a Halloween wedding. Lololol. It's so me to do that. I wanted Nov 1 and it was booked but didn't want to get too near Thanksgiving. So figured Why not? Has anyone been planning a Friday wedding? How's it working out with your guests? I can only assume I have the date reserved. I got a one sentence response from her" the date is yours". Lol! I'm pretty lax but this is going to be interesting
  16. I've heard it's about 125 max to be able to acccomodate everyone
  17. Thanks! Exciting but Scary... lol So does anyone have the package info. Ive emailed Mayte but haven't heard back from her.
