Hi ladies, It is very hard to put a long story into few words so I can see why Precious4598 would think I did wrong in not picking my sister in the first place.. The reason I didn't pick my sister right away is because the two of us hadn't been speaking to each other for about a year until very recently and the two of us are very different when it comes to the way we live our lives. I thought by picking my friend instead of my sister I would avoid having confrontations with my sister (half the time we can't agree on anything) but with this whole situation I think it would have almost been better because confrontations and all, she would have been there for me. I have tried to get in contact with my original MOH to talk about this situation and let her know that because she seems to have so much going on I think it would be better for my sister to become my MOH and that she is still welcome to be my bridesmaid; but my MOH hasn't even returned my calls or text for over a month. Even after I posted on my facebook bridesmaid group page that I needed some help in getting my save the dates ready so I can mail them next week. I could tell she read my post, and everyone else replied to it except for her. She texted me when my daughter was at the hospital and she sent her well wishes, but when I tried contacting her afterwards she just doesn't reply at all. I really don't want to tell her I no longer want her to be my MOH over a text message, but if she doesn't get back to me soon I may be left with no other. I am in some serious need of advice right now. I am doubting my choice for my Maid of Honour.... Here is a bit of background: I have known her for about 5 years and she used to be my best friend, the last few years however, we have barely seen each other and she always uses the fact that we are both in school as an excuse; but even during the summer break I have only seen her twice. She has been together with her boyfriend for 11 years and I know it must have been hard for her to find out that I got engaged sooner than her. I never assumed that this could get in the way of her being excited for me so I asked her to be my MOH and she agreed. I thought she would be very happy for me, but it took her a good week and only after me texting her to meet up a few times she agreed to meet me for a quick coffee and talk. She told me she was going through some family issues and there was lots going on in her life so that's why she couldn't come see me sooner. Anyway I told her that many people had been asking us about an engagement party but that my parents had already told me they would not be able to host it for us but would help us pay for the wedding instead; I guess part of me was hoping that she would offer to organize it but she never did and I ended up saying I was going to organize it myself. Her response was oh so you are having an engagement party & a bridal shower & a destination wedding? That will be too expensive for people. I said I wasn't expecting any gifts for the engagement party and I mainly wanted to do it so that close family and friends could get together and celebrate. She didn't seem too excited. I then told her how I wanted to do a bridesmaids meet and greet and we set up a date. She didn't offer to help plan anything for the meet and greet and it wasn't until I called her the day before to ask her if she thought I should get anything else and told her how other bridesmaids were bringing a few snacks and drinks, that's when she offered to bring a few snacks. That was the last time I heard from her about the wedding or about anything at all. She didn't come to my birthday, which did hurt me a little because on her birthday I kept my whole day open and she said she wasn't doing anything even though I told her I would like to take her out for dinner and could even bring our guys along. I bought her a cake which we ate at the bridesmaids meet and greet, and for my birthday she went camping a few days before but was supposed to be back and ended up staying the extra day. I am starting to get the feeling that we aren't as close as before and that maybe my expectations were a little bit too high. I thought she would be very excited for me and would want to plan everything together, because that is what I would have done for her. I have two sisters and one of them was a little hurt that I didn't choose her as my MOH, so now I am starting to regret my decision and kind of wish I had chosen my sister instead. Is there a way to tell her I changed my mind without ending the friendship? Or should I just tough it out and deal with it? Oh drama........

We have a very large wedding party - 8 for each side. And I can't seem to think of something to give them that would still be nice but affordable considering there is so many of them. Everyone is buying their own outfit but we told them they could wear any shoes/accessories as long as they match our colours. I was thinking of paying for the bridesmaids make up which is $90 at the resort, but that would almost be close to a thousand. Anyone know of a better idea?

I used wix! It was very easy, simple, and FREE! You can arrange anything the way you want to and choose your own colours. There is different widgets so you can put a countdown clock etc. I love it!

I am getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya. It is VERY kid friendly and I have stayed there before, loved the food, service, rooms, and beach. Another great thing is that this resort is one of 5 resorts that are all together, so you can give your guests the option to stay at one of the other ones which differ in price. The maya has a lazy river, ice cream parlour, carousel, and great entertainment. I initially wanted to get married at the Iberostar Grand but that one is adults only and I have a 6 year old daughter. Anyway hope this helps!!

I sent my credit card info and I am now booked for November 2014!! So exciting! I found out a few things that may be useful for other brides: *If you want to use an outside vendor, such as photographer or anything for which they offer their services on site there will be a fee of around $300 USD *Make up at their spa is $85 for the bride, they sent me a few pictures and it looks very nice and it is a lot cheaper than some other make up artists I had previously contacted *You can send a picture of the wedding cake you would like and they may be able to do something like it, maybe give you a different quote. (I am very specific about what kind of cake I want so I wanted to make sure this was possible) Now I am just waiting until the prices are released for 2014 so I can get quotes for my guests. I am getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya in November 2014. I am getting the Dream Package which comes with a private beach dinner. So far I have made my own boarding pass save the dates through a template a found for free online and they turned out great! I have been trying to get quotes from TA and have spoken to two of them already, but they both quoted me very high. I think it may be a little too soon to get good deals considering my wedding is over a year away! It is just so exciting to plan for everything! Has anyone else booked their resort? Did you have to send a photocopy of your credit card and IDs? I just don't think I feel too comfortable having to do that at Iberostar...
