Alexis! THANK YOU SO MUCH! What a great review!!! I've said it before in the other Secrets thread and your planning journal thread, but you are soo helpful and inspirational!!! I just emailed Lisa Marie at Secrets with additional questions this morning but you actually answered a whole bunch of them in this post!!! I really appreciate all the details, dos & don'ts and honesty. We're are really close to making Secrets our final decision, we just need to hear back about date availability since our first choice date was already booked at the 4pm slot. I'm really hoping to be the only wedding on our day. Congratulations and thanks again for your advice!!! (and for still being involved with BDW after your wedding!!!)

LOL, that's so funny! I can't imagine being on standby holding your dress as your carry-on just waiting to be called! I have a feeling most resorts will upgrade you when you check in since you're getting married there ... anyone else think the same?

I also feel bad for the guests ... our #1 choice is Secrets which isn't totally over the top but is pricier than other Jamaica options. But at the same time, it's our wedding and we feel that is the best option for us .. now hopefully, we can get a date ...

My FI was not all involved until this weekend when we finally sat down and compared resort packages and listed extra costs etc to see how much this weeding will cost and he is shocked! he had no clue and now we're not sure if we can even afford this! :( We both want something small but we're disagreeing on certain splurges. My #1 thing is photography but he can't believe it will cost up to 5k for a good photography package. He doesn't care about flowers/chairs/chuppas/sashes etc. he just wants his parents and sister there on the beach He keeps saying "we don't need that, we don't need that etc" sigh ...

cute!!! great job on the maracas! I think the streamers are cute too - I think the guests will either leave them on the chairs if there is a cocktail hour in between or bring them to the reception if that's right away depending on how far it is. I would think people would use the maracas more bc it's fun with the noise

Are all of you using a TA for your guests? Can they get better rates than if they booked themselves? We are planning a small wedding (inviting only 22 people and not sure if all are making it) so not sure if we can get group rates for so few rooms?

the sandals whitehouse looks amazing!!! That location was my first choice if I went with sandals but i have a lot of single friends coming so that ruled out sandals. that's great to hear the communication is going well and the wc is on top of thigns

I feel the same way! The ladies here are fantastic! I'm pretty much on my own since my FI gets bored after 10 minutes of wedding talk and my sisters want me to make my own decisions for "my" wedding which is nice bc they are not demanding/annoying but at the same time, they are too hands off. You guys are definitely my support and inspiration!

oh me too! At least you settled on a place and a date! Unfortunately, our first choice date at our top choice resort is booked so we're trying to availability on other days ...

I'm thinking coral and blue-green/turquoise. I'd love to have some fuschia accents but may get pushback from my fiance as too "pink"

lol your FI sounds like mine. We haven't even decided on a resort yet bc he's sooo not into planning. We keep going round and round on the pros and cons of each and eventually he gets bored of wedding talk. I;m OK with him not caring about the invites or flowers etc but I def want the resort decision to be made by the 2 of us!
