I love the idea of having a shutterfly page so everyone can share pics ... are cards going in your OOT bags? nice, I would def use this again after the trip sarong! they are so fun - are you getting them in your colors or a mix so each girl gets a different one? I think I might get my travel stuff for the welcome bags from there. Was anybody else aware of this? Lastly: There are a lot of sales on theknot.com, exclusive weddings, etc. For my gifts to my bridesmaids, I want to do silk robes, a cosmetic bag, and a nice tote bag. What are your suggestions for gifts? (As you can see, I am off today and I am spending it shopping ) have fun!!! and thanks for the sale info
  2. I'm not into hyphens but wow, seriously, Jalitza Poveda-Toussaint sounds amazing! That is a NICE name!
  3. wow, you got the invites already made? I am just finishing up my StD! We have our venue but no room block yet ... waiting to hear back from them. I;ve been dress shopping twice so far and two more stores this weekend ... and I've phone-interviewed a bunch of photographers so now we have to pick one!! Def have to start thinking about decorations, flowers etc ... awesome job making them and getting them out there! Queens in da house ... grew up in Flushing, now in Astoria
  4. How much info is everyone putting in their invitations? I have a website which I want people to use more so I dont want to repeat all the same info (I have sections for "resort info", "travel info", "things to do in Jamaica" etc. (or should I repeat??) We don't have a set day or time for the welcome cocktail reception nor know when to plan a group excursion which makes me reluctant to put an "itinerary" in writing in the formal invitation. I have it all TBD on the site. So far, I just the basic we invite you to ... date...location ...rsvp by ...
  5. ugh!!! why should YOU have to switch the resort you purposely chose for your wedding. The friend and his boys should go to a different resort!!!
  6. awesome! I'm going to do a test print of my StD tonight! I hope it goes well. And great deal on the engagement photos!I haven't even started to think about registering. My FI didn't really want to bc he didn't want gifts since people will be flying to the wedding but I mentioned (and I hope this doesn't sound like I'm fishing for gifts) about the rest of our family and friends who will not be coming to the wedding. I'm doing mail-ins bc I'm doing a mad-libs reply card but I think online is totally fine. Tha;ts really cool you set up a QR code! Thanks, we really like our resort so we won't want to switch but I think I will also include suggested dates on the website. thanks for the idea! Secrets isn't a huge resort so I'm sure we'll run into people here and there. I'm not sure how long my sisters plan on staying but they are def giving off the vibe that it's a vacation for them .... hopefully they get the hint if I add suggested dates like hclibby suggested ...
  7. How is everyone handling how long people stay? I love that people are willing to come so far to my wedding and make a vacation out of it but how do I politely tell them that this is still our honeymoon too? I feel like my sisters are more excited about going to Jamaica than the actual wedding! They are talking about buying an extra suitcase when they already each have 2 huge ones! I'm like 'really?? I don't want you hanging around my entire wedding-moon!!!"
  8. LOVE!! The first dress I tried on was another White by Vera gown and my sisters' mouths literally dropped when i walked out of the dressing room. I'm checking out a couple more stores this weekend but so far that dress is the frontrunner!
  9. I love non-white dresses! I'm leaning towards ivory but I've seen some champage and blush pink dresses that are cute.
  10. love your creativity! where do you get most of your supplies? michaels or online? i'm hoping to make my own centerpieces but i am not crafty at all so i have no clue where to get things.
  11. so random but I went to school with 3 girls and they each called themselves differently. One was Kim, another Kimmy and the third Kimberly ...
  12. We have similar tastes! I loooove ruching in a fit and flare dress!! I also really like your bridesmaid dresses!
  13. I don't like the "destination" dresses either. For me, just because I'm getting married on a beach doesn't mean I want a short "beach" dress or a casual flowy sheath. i still want to feel and look like a bride. I love the fit & flare/trumpet style gowns - no satin or lace because I think that will be too heavy for the beach but I've tried on some light airy organza and tulle (?) dresses. And a bit of bling detail .. maybe from a sparkly sash. For him, I'm envisioning (or telling him lol) cream/khaki colored pants and vest, no jacket, white shirt and a tie. He tried to argue that it will be too hot for a tie but I do NOT want his chest hair sticking out lolol. He wants to wear sandals which I;m OK with as long as they are new, tasteful and match his outfit. he jokes he is going to wear his 15 year old timberland velcro water sandals

  15. haha yeah, I sort of felt like I was hounding him, trying to trick him into wedding talk but he's coming around slowly. Thanks! I agree about one "strong" shade and then "accent" colors Sounds like typical men ... I think I realized with my guy, it's not so much he doesn't care, it's 1. he's clueless ("colors for what?", "what's the difference between all these flowers?", "what are getting ready shots?", "what's a trash the dress?" etc.) 2. he wants me to have "my" wedding, how I want it, what I want (within reason and budget of course) bc I'm the girl I notice when I don't push him, he's a lot more open.
  16. Is the Welcome drinks private or just meeting at a bar? I don't think the others will care if its jsut immediate family, esp if you put in an itnerary in the welcome bag? like indicate there's this dinner for the bridal aprty and immediate family and then another dinner sunday?
  17. I think my mini freak-out moment got my FI moving ! LOl He actually sat with me last night to go over details! We looked at photographers, figured out an invitation design and picked out our colors! Cutest moment was when I asked "what should our colors be?" He looks at me with the most perplexed serious face "we have to pick out colors???" I start cracking up and he goes "I'm sorry!! I had no idea! Really! I don't know these things!!" Luckily I don't mind if he doesn't care about colors, flowers or invites but he actually gave a lot of input which i'm happy about. I love bright colors so was thinking along the lines of fuschia or coral but they are "too pink" for him. He wants blue and I half jokingly said "and orange?" Half joking because blue and orange are the Mets team colors and we are die-hard baseball and Mets fan. But I do also love orange cause it's so bright. I google inspiration boards for him (and again he was like "whoa, what are inspiration boards?" lol) and we decided to do lighter shades of blue and orange to fit the tropical destination ... so to be fancy we're calling it "teal and tangerine" lol
  18. if it's included i say go for it. would it be the night before the ceremony? and then the other people are staying after the wedding ? so you have time to do it another night?
  19. OK, now I can officially say: Name: Pauline From: NYC Date: May 30, 2014 Location: Secrets St. James Montego Bay haha, phew, I think that was the hardest part - deciding when and where ... started to design my StD based off this from Etsy (which I'm too cheap to pay for)
  20. thanks! I'm the opposite ... those bootcamp/crossfit classes scare me ! lol although I have been to 2 wedding gown stores and I realize I need to work on my arms/back/shoulders area! lol thanks congrats!
  21. the outside vendor fee at Paradisus is $1000??? whoa!! I think it's $350 at Secrets + a day pass of $80 i think these fees are so ridiculous
  22. no NYRR races for me. I was running them like crazy the past 2 years (did the 9+1 twice) but I'm only doing the marathon this year. They keep raising the registration fees and I run regularly in Central Park so I decided to save the money. cute! where are you getting pretty envelopes from? is yellow part of your color scheme?
  23. haha congrats! I started emailing photographers for package info and one requires a 50% deposit! oy! any race is impressive! Halfs are great, that's my favorite distance and thanks!
