  1. For any past GPR brides, how was your ceremony music handled if you brought an ipod? I had just assumed that we would give the ipod to the wedding coordinator, and as long as the music was in a playlist, that they would take care of the music. Yesterday my WC, Alejandra, asked me if I had someone who was going to be with helping me play songs...??? I'm incredibly confused. Have any of you had to have a guest run the ipod?
  2. December 9th, 2013 Gran Porto Real Bride here! Where is everyone in the stages of planning? We didn't get any STD, but will be sending invites out soon.
  3. Awesome!!! Congratulations!!! Can't wait to see some pictures! Enjoy your honeymoon!
  4. I'm so glad that things are going smoothly for you!! Are they charging you to put on your chair bows and such? (I thought you posted that you were bringing them?) Hows the beach? So happy for you!
  5. Thank you so much for the update!! You eased a lot of my fears. Have a great time!
  6. oh lovely....Here's our conversation: Is there any type of centerpiece on the reception tables?...................................8 people per table, attached you will find a picture of the standard centerpiece. I'm going to have to follow up with her to confirm this. Did they tell you there was one also BillandStina?
  7. I don't think that it's red. I asked for a picture of the standard beach set up that is included in our package-the classic pkg...it looked like a plain sand color runner. I can't figure out how to upload images on my iPad. If I can figure it out ill post it. . Also, I'm just going with the Standard centerpieces for the reception, she sent me a pic of them as well and they will work just fine for me, as I don't want to worry about traveling with anything or paying for an upgraded one.
  8. Yes, it definitely is scary! Our ceremony is on the North Beach...I'm hoping that its the more secluded one, LOL, wish I knew! I'm anxiously awaiting Billandstina's review when they return. Have you decided on a lot of details yet? I just booked my December wedding in April, so I haven't had a whole lot of planning time. Some days it seems so far away, but others I don't feel like I have nearly enough time to get everything done!
  9. Torie, I believe the Dance Floor is separate from the DJ. As far as the open bar, that I'm not sure about. I hope so! Let us know what you find out. Where are you having the ceremony?
  10. Great ideas for the loot bags! The only thing I wanted to get for sure was some commerative shot glasses for all our guests. I found the coolest ones on pinterest, but cant seem to see where they came from and no place I search has what I'm looking for. Do you actually have to have 20 people for the Italian restuarant or is it that you just have to pay for 20? I wasn't sure about that. We might have 20, but until everyone books their flights, I wouldn't bet money on it. I do think that the standard chairs come with white bows btw, but I'm not sure. I asked for a picture of the basic beach setup with no upgrades and the chairs had white bows.
  11. We are definitely a laid back bunch also...I'm not expecting a large group, probably 18-20. I'm trying to do everything as simple and inexpensive as possible. I had originally planned on a very simple gown, maybe even ordering online...but then I made the mistake of going to David's to try on some dresses and get an idea of what style I liked...well I ended up falling in love with a Vera Wang gown, that makes me look way thinner than I actually am. Who can say no to that. As far as decoration, I'm not doing any of my own. I think I'm going to have colored chair bows, but that will likely be my only upgrade from what comes standard with our package Well, I guess a private reception upgrade as well. I was bummed that we couldn't do a reception on the beach unless it was "private" Its really not "private" when you are sitting outside in the middle of the beach. So I'm shelling out for the upgrade. I have no idea yet what I'm doing for loot bags. I have seen some cute ideas online, I'm not a very creative person, so keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm sure you've mentioned already, are you doing a symbolic or legal wedding? We are doing symbolic, and Alejandra sent me the ceremony script, Are you making any changes? Are you writing your own vows? Neither of us really want to write our own, but based on the script, I'm wondering if we are supposed to? We want to do something a little unique...I found a hand blessing that I found online, that we might do in lieu of the standard sand ceremony. What about you Billandstina? (And I am anxiously waiting for your review of the resort!)
  12. I did see a picture of the standard rooms online, and I agree, they were definitely not something I will recommend to our guests...we booked a junior suite ocean view, and am hoping we get the ocean front with the upgrade. Thank you so much for your reassurances. I thought the Gazebo looked beautiful, and I was actually debating on if I should've chose that. So I believe you made a great choice as well. Are you bringing or doing any of your own decorations? Where are you having your reception?
  13. I'm wishing I would've booked at the Royal as well. We may upgrade there after the wedding; will see. Most of our guests have never been to Mexico, or an AI, so I'm hoping that they all have a great experience....the stress of worrying about the resort is more than the stress I'm having planning the wedding. The sandbags on the beach is what I'm mostly worried about, I can't imagine that being a nice backdrop of a beach wedding. I'm hoping that on the north beach, closer to the Royal I hear(?) that they aren't there.
  14. That would be cool cglouie! Where is your ceremony? I'm a little worried about some of the negative reviews also...my biggest concern is the beach. At the time I booked, I didn't see a whole lot of negative reviews...I considered the Now Jade before the Gran Porto, and I saw a lot more negative reviews for the Jade...
  15. Who were you working with before they transferred you to the resort coordinator Stina? I have Alejandra Parra, and she's been great about getting back to me in a timely manner. I haven't asked anything about the videographer though, because I didn't think we would purchase the video services. Where is your wedding ceremony being held? What about receptions? Food choices? LOL Sorry, I have so many questions. We are getting married on the North Beach on 12/9/13 J
  16. Hi Everyone....this thread hasn't been very active lately, but I'm hoping to connect with more GPR brides. Our wedding is scheduled for December 9th, 2013. I'm having such a hard time deciding on everything from food to flowers!
