  1. Yes that's an easy way too! That way everyone gets a dress that they are comfortable with, and fits their body type. My sister did that for her wedding, she chose black and we each picked our own dress, it was the easiest process ever! Because you can never go wrong with a LBD
  2. Check with your carrier who offers excursions, they might offer something that's not advertised! Or if you have a large enough group, they would just do it for you because it means $$ for them! Never hurts to ask
  3. I'm not really a superstitious person either, although I didn't see my groom at all the day of the wedding, I wanted the traditional reveal as I walked down the aisle. I also had something old, new, borrowed, blue. But I guess those are also more traditions, than superstitions.
  4. My husband chose our first dance song, At Last by Etta James. He is almost 40 and has waited so long to meet the woman of his dreams - ME! We both felt it was fitting, as I have kissed a few frogs in my day too. At Last is pretty much how we both feel! It was perfect, and my mother was crying her eyes out during our dance too, haha. I think the song should be meaningful to both of you, but it doesn't have to be slow or classical or mushy, just as long as you both like it!
  5. Where are you getting married? We did a catamaran sunset dinner cruise in Varadero Cuba, Sunwing provided it. It's not an advertised option as part of their excursions, but we knew about it and spoke to the Sunwing rep at the resort and he arranged it for us. It was awesome, we loved it!
  6. I have heard that Photobucket is a great website!
  7. You are not crazy at all! We got married in the gardens, our resort was beautiful, the beach was amazing, but we chose the gardens for the ceremony. There were a bunch of reasons we chose garden over beach - the beach would be windy, our guests wouldn't be able to hear anything that was said, chairs would not be set up on the beach for our 45 guests, we wouldn't be able to have music on the beach (no speakers or cords or a mic) plus you cannot control the beachgoers and gawkers, the gross men in speedos walking into the line of sight for photos or anyone swimming behind you. The garden was much easier to control the people watching, it was quiet, shady, semi private, we had chairs and more decorations than the beach offerred, we had our own music, and even though we were told we would have a mic for our vows, we didn't. But the gardens were perfect and beautiful and just what we wanted, we are very happy with our pictures. Plus, you can go to the beach after and take pictures, so you get the best of both worlds! Hope this helps you! If you'd like to see some pics, PM me and I'll happily send some
  8. That's amazing and it will take so much stress off of you! The good thing about the limited time frame is, you won't have a lot of time to twiddle your thumbs over making decisions, you'll have to choose what you like and move on to the next! haha
  9. We kindly asked that our guests not post to Facebook or social media until we returned from our honeymoon, and our guests didn't have any problems with it! They understood and agreed, and said they wished they had thought of that for their own weddings. Our friends and family respected our request, no problem-o!
  10. We have a video of our wedding, it was only an extra $150 - super cheap! We are so glad we went for it, it's a beautiful video, edited, they also added the music that I had playing at the ceremony. The ceremony, cake cutting, champagne toast, and entire photo shoot was recorded, they did such an amazing job! I cried through the whole thing when we watched it upon our return, I am so happy we have it and I love it. Honestly I don't think any of you girls would regret getting one done!
  11. I'm sure you were shocked! Do they provide vendors for you to use, or just cut a cheque and you can spend as you wish? 7 months isn't a lot of time to plan a wedding but you can do it! Start making calls ASAP! LOL
  12. We are back! Future Blau brides - you will have an amazing beautiful gorgeous wedding day! There were a few hiccups, but overall it was perfect and amazing and everything we dreamed of. We couldn't be happier. The resort is amazing, beach is paradise, wedding ceremony amazing. Sabina the Wedding Coordinator was great, and Photographer Addiel - TOP NOTCH!!! I cannot say enough about him. I was worried the most about the pictures because there was no portfolio, no website or anything to look at his work, but my expectations were EXCEEDED by a million. He is amazing and professional, fun and creative, he gave us 60 photos printed plus all of our pictures on a disc (over 700) and we got a video too. Amazing amazing work!! We loved the Blau, so did all of our guests and if we ever go back to Cuba we would most definitely go back to the Blau. A full review and pictures to follow soon!
  13. We are home too! And welcomed back to -33 weather...BBBRRR it's definitely not the +29 we were used to! Our wedding was amazing and perfect! There were a few small hiccups but at the end of the day it was amazing and it was the dream wedding we wanted. We couldn't be happier. A full review and pictures coming soon! Can't wait to hear about everyone else's big day too
  14. Congratulations!! Sounds like you've got things under control! I think a year's notice is a great time frame. I kind of wish we had given more time. We got engaged February of last year, and it took us a few months to figure things out, where we wanted the wedding, Calgary, Nova Scotia or destination, and then my Dad had to talk to his doctors and get clearance to travel b/c he has heart problems, but once he got the A-OK we decided destination! We announced in May, for a January wedding. So it was a bit of a whirlwind, but it worked out and we've got 50 people attending!!
  15. We take off Sunday evening!!!!! Today is my last day of work and 5:00 can't come fast enough!!! :)
  16. Hello! I think a wedding video is great to have, however, I've heard most people say they watch it once and then it collects dust for 10 years. But it sounds like a video is extremely important to you, especially given your backgrounds. Maybe you could compromise elsewhere in your budget to free up some funds for a videographer? Or, you must know people who are experts in this field, maybe you could bribe them or twist their arm in doing it for a small fee or a case of beer or something? Butter up some old classmates!
  17. @@m8chow you must be leaving soon, are you all ready? Pumped up or freaking out? EEEEEE not long now!!
  18. Congratulations Kristina! Being engaged and planning a wedding is so much fun! (for the most part) it does have it's stressful moments. :S I love how you asked your friends to be bridesmaids, it's so creative!! I wish I had thought of something like that! All I did was make phone calls, and one girl I asked her at the movie theatre right before the movie was starting, and then we had to be quiet haha Happy planning!!
  19. ONE WEEK UNTIL I DO!!

  20. I bought the Jr. Bridesmaids dress and the flower girl dress, because they are our nieces, and it would be a lot to ask for my SIL to purchase them. My other bridesmaids bought their own. I would have loved to buy the dresses for them, however I have 5 b-maids, and that was out of my price range. If I had one or two girls stand for me I would have paid for them. I think it's so nice when a bride pays for her bridesmaids, but nowadays it's certainly not expected. I paid $250 for a bridesmaids dress in the past and I think that's a bit pricey. I tried to keep my dresses around the $100-$120 mark. I am, however, paying for the girls hair and makeup at the salon, so I think that's a nice treat for them
  21. Here are my bridesmaids dresses! From David's Bridal in navy/marine http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Sleeveless-Jersey-Dress-with-Charmeuse-Waist-Band-E44239_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Short-Bridesmaid-Dresses Sleeveless Jersey Dress with Charmeuse Waist Band Style E44239 2 of my girls have this one (including my Jr. Bridesmaid, but it had to be majorly altered because she's only 10) http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Short-Crinkle-Chiffon-Dress-with-Front-Cascade-F14847_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Short-Bridesmaid-Dresses Short Crinkle Chiffon Dress with Front Cascade Style F14847 3 of my girls have this one.
