Vacation Vs Best Friend's Wedding
jackshayne0123 replied to BethanyW's topic in Just venting or funnies
@@CurlyKristen that is awful! She won't go solely b/c of your location? Terrible. Shame shame on her. My mother felt the same way about me going to Mexico on vacation, and I said look at it this way, look at all the people and tourists who travel to Mexico everyday, month, year. Those people come back safe and sound! It's only the bad stuff you hear about in the headlines, and those are rare occasions. And if you stay on resort, with tourists, with people you know, chances are nothing will happen to you! If you go to a not so well known area, a sketchy part of the city, or if you hang with the wrong crowd, or looking for trouble, then you'll find it. But resorts are pretty Westernized, they cater to tourists and keeping everyone safe, she shouldn't have anything to worry about! But if she still won't go, then that's too bad and it's her loss. It's probably still upsetting and nobody can convince you otherwise, but hopefully we can help a little bit -
This is hilarious! I love how they had a dude do it too, makes it that much funnier

So funny! And kinda true sorry honey LOL

Anyone else about ready to call it all off?

Wow I'm so sorry to all your brides who are going through headaches, stress and drama! That is not what you need when you are planning the most exciting even of your lives. I agree with the ladies above, stick to your guns, remain true to yourselves and do what you want! It's your day and your pocketbook! You don't want to start your lives in debt either. Please keep us posted, we're here to help and support you! -
I am on both sides here, it's incredibly rude not to consult the bride about inviting other guests, especially if there are extra costs involved with the wedding, cake, food, chairs, etc. Some people don't realize there are extra costs but should have the decency to consult the wedding couple. But on the flip side, people are also coming for a vacation too, and if they want to invite a group of friends along, or relatives, I say why not? I'm sure the resort/venue is big enough for everyone. The more the merrier was our motto. We had an open invitation, people could bring who they wanted, come enjoy, celebrate and have a great time! We had a few "stragglers" in our group and honestly it made the week that much more fun! My friend came with her husband and kids, and her mother also came to babysit, so they could enjoy some adult, kid free time, it worked out well! It was nice to meet these new strangers, and now they aren't strangers! Bottom line, I guess it depends on if they plan on attending the wedding festivities or not. Find out, and go from there!

Awesome ideas on here! Mini beach balls is something I really wanted to do, I wish I did! I ordered everything from Oriental Trading (and I've mentioned before, Canadian girls watch the shipping fees!) RIDICULOUS. I had my stuff sent to my BFF in Boston and when she came to Canada she gave them to my Mom. -paper gift bag with initial B and our names, date, place -lip balm -mints -golf tees -shot glasses (they were more like plastic medicine cups) but hey, served the purpse -paper fans with seashells on it, I had these placed on all the chairs at the ceremony Everything had a sticker with B or our names and the place, date, in navy, my color. Shot glasses said Gracias! I also wish I could have added a little Spanish dictionary, or Spanish for Dummies, I think that would have been super cute and helpful.

What have I learned from planning a destination wedding?
jackshayne0123 replied to shellb's topic in Random Thoughts
What I learned planning our destination wedding: -People don't shy away from giving their opinions -People will surprise, delight, and disappoint you -It's ok to be selfish and do what YOU want! This is a momentous occasion in your lives and yes it IS all about you and your husband! Sometimes Bridezilla needs to surface and it's OK. -My husband and I made an incredible team, we had our own strengths during the planning process and we balanced each other out quite nicely -How much I love him and the overall feeling of peace and happiness I felt, knowing this is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, no doubt about it!!! -
Love seeing all the adorable fur babies!

I'm trying so hard to get to 150! Not being able to see pictures and attachments is driving me bonkers! I'm glad I found these random chat threads I agree @@CurlyKristen there should be confetti!

Where are you getting married? My WC took vacation twice within the 8 months I was planning my wedding and corresponding with her and she didn't tell me, so I wouldn't worry about it! It was super annoying b/c I was thinking the same thing, where is she, why is she taking so long, did she fall off the face of the earth, are my emails going to her junk folder, etc. Some resorts have a replacement checking emails, if it's urgent I'm sure someone will get back to you! I wouldn't sweat it

@@acw271011 I completely agree with everything you said! Especially it is your day no matter what anyone says and anyone, friend or otherwise that is ungracious enough to add this kind of stress, is not worth worrying about. UNGRACIOUS being the key word. @@liz24 I am so sorry you are in this position, it's terrible of your friend to do this to you! I think you're on the right track, be polite and understanding and tell her if it's too much hassle and too expensive, then nevermind. She will see pictures once you're back. It is your day and it will be lovely and beautiful and amazing and you don't need the stress and worry and drama! It is very unfortunate events are unfolding like this, and of course it is very upsetting and hurtful, but for your own peace of mind, to enjoy the rest of the plannig process, and the excitement leading up to your wonderful day, maybe it is best this girl stays at home. All the best, keep us posted!

I think a beach towel is an awesome idea! I wanted to do this, but couldn't find exactly what I wanted for a good price. That's my vote! -
Getting Married At Courthouse?
jackshayne0123 replied to beccafries's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Personally I would keep the legal at home marriage quiet, you're right it takes away from the destination ceremony. I know girls who have done this, and the guest complained they were travelling all that way and spending all that money for a "fake wedding". "If they are already married why are we going? Why are they even having a wedding?" comments from some. I agree with that, and my husband and I didn't want that either, but that was just our personal opinion. I understand getting married legally at home first makes sense, it's easier, cheaper, etc. I say keep quiet, your guests won't know the difference. You could do a mock certificate to sign for the ceremony so people see you signing papers but they don't have to know it's not real. Make your anniversary the date of your DW celebration, why not? That's when it will probably feel real, your guest are there, you're in your dress, that day is extremely special and always will be in your hearts. -
It will totally be ok! You'll have to play host of course and introduce people who don't know each other, but they will all have a common connection - you and your husband! They all love you and are there to celebrate, so they will make small talk and enjoy the party! Just keep the margaritas flowing
-
@@SLetendre that sounds like a fun party! You could do a Mexican fiesta, that would be so fun! I honestly wouldn't worry about people not knowing each other, or not having anything to do. It's a party, there's food, drinks, people to socialize with, everyone will make friends and chat with each other! I don't think you need to worry about entertaining them, if you have the pictures, guest book, you'll be talking about the wedding and all the awesome memories you made, all the good times, people will be happy to hear all about it and they will be so excited and happy for you!

Hey everyone! I wanted to check back - we had our AHR last Saturday night and we had a blast! As I mentioned before it wasn't anything fancy, at a pub close to our house, we had a private room, we invited whoever wanted to come, didn't do formal invites, just email and text messages, 35 people showed up! We had a slideshow of the pictures and played the video, we got a few balloons to decorate, a cake from Costco, we bought appetizer platters for our group, spent about $300, and that's it! We wore our wedding attire, yes I wore my dress to a pub, classy I know LOL. We had a great night, it was awesome to see everyone, and mostly everyone who came was unable to make it to the wedding, so it was awesome to see those people and include them too. A great time was had by all

Airlines that allow wedding dress as carry-ons
jackshayne0123 replied to jajajaja's topic in Honeymoon Forum
We travelled with Sunwing with no problems, they have a special overhead bin specifically for wedding dresses, it's even labelled in big red letters! I'm sure airlines get wedding dresses as carry on all the time!
