Happy to hear that you have great things to say about her as well! I do need to get in touch with her fairly soon, as I have some vegetarians coming with me, so I want to be sure that for the wedding dinner there is plenty of food that they can eat, though I understand that they do have quite a few options. When will you be down there?! Yes Sabina is great, she's on the ball. She's already hounding me for our passport info to get our paperwork started. What a gal! We arrive Jan 19th, wedding 23rd and leave the Blau on the 27th. We are changing resorts and staying another week at the Iberostar. I also have dietary concerns, a few of our guests are Celiac. I've mentioned this to Sabina and she said the chefs are on duty during the buffet times so if they have questions they can talk to them. I hope they are familiar with gluten free and Celiac! I don't want these girls getting sick! My Aunt and Uncle were at this resort two years ago and said the food was great, so I feel better and I'm not as stressed as I first was about it. I'm sure vegetarians won't have any problems either Are you using the resort photographer?

I'm currently working on music for the ceremony, trying to pick songs for the girls to walk to, and myself, and then a song for us to walk up the aisle after the ceremony. I'm also anxiously awaiting the arrival of my wedding dress....they're cutting it close I tell ya! I've been told it should be here in 2 weeks and then I'll have my fitting. Can't wait! I also have started to think about a welcome letter/brochure to add to the OOT bags. There's so many little details! Where are you at right now?
  3. Hello January Brides! I am getting married January 23 at the Blau Varadero in Cuba. I cannot wait!! Congrats to you all, looking forward to chatting with everyone! Jackie

I'm sure we can figure it out when we get there but it's probably good to discuss now before there are tears the night before LOL
  5. This thread has been so helpful beyond words I cannot describe it! I am tearing up thinking of the wonderful memories we will be creating with our family and friends. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences! I have a question - what are you doing (or what did you do) about sleeping arrangements with your fiance the night before the wedding? I want to keep it traditional and sleep apart and not see each other until I walk down the aisle, but the hotel cannot offer us separate rooms the night before. So one of us would have to go sleep somewhere else. My fiance doesn't think this is a big deal (to sleep together and see each other) but I kind of do. But at the same time I feel bad asking my fiance to sleep elsewhere as we both want to be comfortable and get a good nights sleep. Thoughts/suggestions/comments? Thanks ladies! Jackie

I was so confused. I am doing those! I had to ship to my BFF in the US b/c it was cheaper so I'm hoping everything looks good and not cheap-ola. She will mail to me later this month. The acronyms also really helped!

So today, I will go read reviews and look at pictures and pick one and the great thing about the Melia for me the wedding coordinator for Canada is in the Toronto area so big plus for me! Wow that's awesome you got two quotes! It must also be nice to have your WC close by. Mine is amazing but it would be so nice to meet her and sit down and chat. I've had so many questions I'm sure I'm turning into "that bride".

Yes I agree, choosing a date was the most stressful part for me too (mostly because my mother in law had A LOT to say about when we get married, we had to work around her schedule) and I cried pretty much everyday for a month over one thing or another she said or emailed. But since then it's been smooth sailing and great! I've had a lot of fun with the details, my dress, bridesmaids, gift bags. Right now I'm in the process of getting my passport renewed, and making sure everyone else has valid passports too. Wouldn't that be great now, if someone's passport expired!! OYYYY

Sabina is amazing, I cannot say enough about her so far!

I've been told it will take 4-5 months to get our wedding cert. back. My WC hasn't said anything about a certificate of single status. But if either of us have been divorced or widowed, she would need those docs too. But all we do is send our stuff to her, including our witness info, and she takes care of the rest.

These gifts sound amazing, I was thinking of a clutch and earrings for my girls. Planning all of this has been so much fun! Are you enjoying it or finding it stressful?

I do have a friend who made her own sashes for her wedding which are navy, I might ask to buy/borrow from her. I think white does look elegant and classy, but the navy might also give it a pop. Decisions decisons!

I am going with simple centrepieces, but have purchased coral faux flowers and glass vases for the tables. I am also bringing tealight holders and shells ans starfish. As for favours I plan on buying a small bottle of rum for every couple/single, so I'll purchase those once we arrive in Varadero! The blau looks like a gorgeous place to get married... what are your plans are you bringing your own decor? Hey! I'm with ya, I'm not loving what the resort is offering, they don't have many choices for colors for the arch or the chair sashes. My color is navy, and they have a blue but it's a light "80's" blue and I kind of think it will look tacky. I might choose white, but I wonder if it will be too bland? I'm debating on what to do. I have ordered thank you/goodie bags for our guests but that's all I'm bringing (so far).
  15. Hello Canadian Brides! I'm happy I found this forum! I'm getting married at the Blau Varadero in Cuba in January, can't wait! Looking forward to hearing about everyones experiences. Just wondering - is anyone bringing favors/decor/centre pieces for the tables at the dinner reception? Or not worrying about it? Jackie
  16. Hello Blau Brides, I am so happy to have found this thread! It's hard to find Cuba info on here. I am getting married at the Blau Varadero January 2014 and we are so excited! The WC Sabina is amazing, she's been very helpful and accomodating. The info and discussions here from past Blau Brides has been really helpful I am so excited for our special day! Where is everyone right now with your planning process? I just ordered our gift/goodie bags and cake toppers...things are progressing! Not much left to do! Happy planning, hope to hear from you soon! Jackie
  17. Hello, not sure if you have found your answer yet, but my wedding coordinator at the Blau Varadero told me she takes care of all of our documents for us. What we do need to do, though, is provide her with our info, and our witnesses info prior to the wedding. She will need copies of all of our passports, and copies of the bride and grooms birth certificates two months prior. But that's all she needs from us! Hope this helps you! Jackie
  18. Hello! Just wondering what kinds of flowers are available in Cuba? Are the choices and colors limited? I'd love to know any kind of feedback! Thanks everyone! Jackie
  19. Thanks guys! I am getting excited and can't wait! Question - what's this OOT bag I keep seeing posts about?
  20. Thanks so much, we can't wait! Do you or anyone else have reviews or pictures from the Blau Varadero and the work of Addiel? Jackie
  21. Hey everyone! My name is Jackie and I am getting married January 2014 at the Blau Varadero in Cuba. My fiance Shayne and I are so excited! One BIG question I have is about photography, we have to use the photographer on the resort, but they do not have a website, or portfolio, and cannot email any photos of past work. So how do I know what they are like? I'd love any input, or if anyone else has used this resort photographer any reviews would be appreciated! Thanks so much! Jackie
