I've thought long and hard about this. I come from a HUGE family. My mom is one of nine so just on her side alone I have over 40 cousins. With that said, I will not be inviting most of my family because most of them haven't even met my FI. We are scattered all over (about 40% still live in Colombia, so out of country. The rest are scattered between NJ, FL -north and south, TX). I am inviting friends that we have actually spent time together with. We are both Baltimore transplants so our friends are also scattered all over. My bridesmaids hail from Chicago, Hoboken, and Orlando, lol! His groomsmen are from Upstate NY, Eastern PA, and Middle PA. It's a tough choice, but we have to cut corners to stick to our budget!! Good luck ladies!

It's pretty much because it has the word "wedding" attached to it. Makes me want to just go back and say I changed my mind. It will just be a gathering haha!

So I bought my dress this past weekend. Bought it in a size 8. I am a petite bride. I stand "tall" at 4'10" lol. I am hoping to lose abut 10-15 pounds, which doesn't sound like much, but on a girl my stature it will mean 2 dress sizes or so. I didn't buy the dress smaller in fear that I wouldn't actually be able to lose the weight. I have been trying for about 6 months now. I am signed up for a 5k this month, and looking to sign up for a few more...until my HALF MARATHON in october! My first fitting is in January, so I have time. Just telling my story. Hi all!! I am also a May 2014 bride I am in the process of finalizing my contract at Secrets Maroma Beach! I am so excited. I, too, had a lot of trouble choosing a resort, but some of my main points on my wishlist were adults only, all inclusive, fairly easy travel for guests, and nice beach. And that's what brought me to SMB I saw a couple of questions posted so I'll quickly answer. My colors will be gray and yellow, with the reason being yellow is my favorite color and gray is an awesome compliment to that. My wedding will probably be around 30 people. I feel like I might be behind on planning since I haven't done any save the dates yet or anything, but plan on having them down in the next few weeks! I will keep posting updates. @ashleykae I am using a local travel agent (local to me) who works with Apple Vacations - they partner with Secrets Maroma Beach and all the other Secrets resorts as well. I looked them up on the Apple Vacations website. Not sure if that's of any help.

Hi all! I was wondering how do you all feel about short dresses? I feel like most people are against them (I say this because a couple of people I have mentioned that I was thinking of a short dress to, have reacted in shock and have made me feel like i was in the complete wrong for even considering it!) I am a very petite bride - I am only 4'10" I feel as if a regular full length gown would swallow me! I have worn longer gowns before. I had a quinceanera princess ball gown when I was 15, so I know I do not want to do that again. I am also a bit on the different, unconventional, totally non traditional side of things. What do you all think? (I will be trying on my first wedding dresses this coming Memorial Day weekend!)

Thank you all! I think i am 98% there (choosing resort - Secrets Maroma Beach). I was weighing the options against Excellence Riviera Cancun, but it seems I will get more included things with the packages at SMB. Both resorts are gorgeous, but this is a deciding factor for me. My budget is not the biggest . I am extremely excited to say that my mother has offered to pay for my dress and is therefore coming to visit me for MDW. I live in Baltimore, and she lives in Florida, so this is going to be tough with having a time constraint for the dress try-ons. Needless to say I have booked several appointments to try some on starting with this coming Friday! Wish me luck!!

Kira, I am in the same boat as you! I will be looking at this thread a lot I think We are looking at about 40--50 people as well. Wanting to keep things close to 10-15k, which seems daunting already. I am considering Secrets Maroma Beach and Excellence Riviera Cancun. I recently began working with an agent, so maybe I will have a better time choosing!

My favorite color is yellow...and my FI really wants to wear a gray suit. I love the color combo of gray/yellow, so I am glad it's worked out this way. Seems meant to be!

Hi MrsShoreytobe! I am also having a lot of anxieties trying to pick a resort. I have been going back and forth between Secrets Maroma Beach, Excellence Riviera Cancun, and some others (those are my top 2). I am looking to book for a mid to end of May 2014 wedding. I have not talked to a travel agent, and after reading many of the posts on here, am starting to think that perhaps I should go talk to one? I didn't think it was necessary until I send my save the dates so that guests can talk to one and make it easier on them. I think I am having trouble committed to a resort...no trouble committing to the man tho! Haha Any suggestions? Thanks!
