  1. My wedding planning friend told me that during high wedding season they would charge for alcohol even if the couple didn't want it.They would pay even if no one was drinking. Absurd! She's a wedding planner in Pennsylvania, which I found surprising that something like that was done, but she says it's a very common thing. UGH haha
  2. That's exactly what I was thinking. I am really leaning towards cutting the cocktail out altogether. Less of a hassle. I might be having my ceremony and reception in the same place so I think it would give a 2 hour break in between for people to freshen up, grab a drink at the many bars, or even a bite to eat, maybe relax on the beach or by the pool; possibilities are endless really lol. And also if I were a guest and I just happened to have been a little sweaty under the sun during the ceremony, I think it would be nice to have time to freshen up in my room before the reception, you know?
  3. I read an interesting article today. Felt like I should share with all you lovely bride-to-bes. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3331528
  4. I believe it's waiters. I'll have to double check on that. Good point!
  5. For starters, you can use a "code" to have all pictures posted to Instagram under a certain hashtag appear in your own account. You can see how here: http://apracticalwedding.com/2013/01/crowdsource-wedding-photos-instagram/ Here are some of the apps that I have looked at: http://www.wedpics.com/ https://www.weddingsnap.com/ https://www.weddingpartyapp.com/ http://trycapsule.com/ The data $ is a concern of mine too. I was thinking of including in my OOT a card saying something along the lines of "if you'd like to include any pics you take during your stay within ours, please use this (app) and post pictures upon your return to the states. looking forward to see the memories and moments you captured!"
  6. I'm not sure what I want to do with my hair. I have a long time to think about it, but my main concern is whether I should grow my hair long or keep it short. My FI LOVEs it short but that limits the styles I can try. I also have to keep in mind that I am leaning towards a birdcage veil...oh decisions decisions!
  7. LOL i feel the same way. I'm a graphic designer so I'm pretty much doing everything myself. I think it's just the achievement!
  8. Not sure if this is the same as what you see, but this is my screen. I used the upload an image (circled) to include image sin my posts.
  9. There's usually a "start a new thread" button towards the bottom of any thread. You shouldn't need 150 posts for that. I've started threads and I'm only at 80 something.
  10. Sometimes I sit and hit refresh to my subscriptions, waiting on new posts, haha
  11. Same here! I have been working on the design of my STDs. I spoke to my travel agent on Saturday and she suggested to wait on sending them until airfare prices are in so that they can easily see that information as well. So now I don't feel as rushed to get them done, (I should still act like I have minimal time, so I can hurry myself up! lol)
  12. Love the gray and yellow! That's what my color scheme is Also, is that a galina dress I see?
  13. So my fiance and I have been talking everything over and debating whether or not we should have a cocktail hour. Our budget is not the biggest and the charges per person add up..QUICKLY. Since we are having the wedding at an AI, isn't it kind of dumb to pay for alcohol that guests can easily go to the nearby bars for? I do worry about the appetizer portion of it though. I just don't know what to do. The costs are getting to be so much, and I don't want to have to cut my already small guest list even more! Suggestions?
  14. with this post, i am officially HALF WAY THERE!
  15. even simple replies like these will help hah
  16. Since my bridesmaids are pretty spread out (Chicago, Hoboken, Orlando) I designed custom cards to ask them. I'll post a pic soon. For my maid of honor (and sister) I put together a box that included: a monogram bracelet, a really nice scarf, a gorgeous butterfly mug, a frame with a picture of the two of us when we were younger, candy, and finally a poem asking her to be my maid of honor
  17. Have you looked into the apps that people download onto their phones? There are several out there that pretty much link all of the pictures taken by guests onto their own "feed" like instagram, facebook, etc...and it all goes under your wedding so you see them all together. Some of them even let you download them all at once so you can keep all the pics taken from many different guests' POVs.
  18. I feel ya! I was pretty busy myself so I am falling behind. I keep telling myself, post post post....but then I just don't haha
  19. Has anyone skipped on cocktail hour? It feels kind of excessive to have to pay for alcohol at an AI, so I'm debating just dropping the cocktail hour all together. Not sure if that's ok? I mean I am in no way traditional, so I'm not really following proper wedding rules and etiquette as it is...lol
  20. Haha, i guess not for the design templates. But there are a ton of other things i want to look at!!
