  1. So sorry! I haven't been paying attention to this thread lately. It was AMAZING. I cannot believe the service we received. The staff stopped any time a guest walked by and put their hand on their hearts. They would carry our plate back from the buffet and always pull my chair out. The food was the best I've had at an AI. The beach was iffy, but the pool was amazing and made up for it. We are SO excited. We have learned how important an onsite visit is though. We were able to taste test our food and realized our original ceremony and reception site was not what we liked, so we changed it to a gazebo instead of the beach.
  2. Yeah we are doing a turquoise and coral color! Typical beach colors. I want really colorful flowers though.
  3. If we invite people to our at home reception, but not wedding, is it rude? We are not doing it to get presents. We have every thing we need as we already have a house together. We would like to celebrate with people like coworkers and extended family.
  4. Really? That's awesome! What day do you go down? We leave on Wednesday. I hope we have enough time! We'll stay at the same hotel. I think our one year will be more of our honeymoon! My guests have until 6/15 to put their deposit down. 6/30 is our last day to release from our block.
  5. 11/14/14 at The Royal Playa del Carmen. Save the dates are on their way. Block is booked and wedding website with every detail possible done. Now the waiting game begins! We are doing our site visit this weekend with menu tasting though!
  6. Have any of you had a florist drop off flowers at the front? If so do you recommend any one in particular? And did you get charged at all for doing this?
  7. I will be going to The Royal Playa del Carmen in the middle of October for a site visit. My fiance and I would love to get a massage on the beach. I've heard there are vendors close to our hotel that do them for a lot cheaper. Has anyone does this?
  8. Yeah, I don't blame you! Maybe you could skip a cocktail hour and recommend your guests go get a snack and drink at the bar. Honestly, I say this because I'm the easiest going person, but I wouldn't care if a wedding I attended had a cocktail hour or not! It's just nice to have an option for guests to do between events!
  9. It would be hard to limit a guest to 4 appetizers per person unless you put out a sign. After being in the sun or doing an activity before your wedding by the time cocktail hour comes around they might be pretty hungry! Just my opinion though.
  10. Thanks that helps! I think the resort we are looking at will charge for a break in events
  11. I've seen on here that if you have a break in between events you are charged. What happens if you have the earlier ceremony? Like 2 pm?
  12. I am looking at doing a November 2014 wedding. Can you brides tell me your time lines? I'm worried about lighting!
  13. I'm going to The Royal in October and I've been reading the trip advisor forum and reviews. It seems like a big illness hit the resorts this month!
  14. Would love a Real Resorts webinar or at least a option to see the previous one!
  15. Perfect sense! Thank you! This will be a huge relief for guests that cannot afford The Royal price tag!.:
  16. If you have a guest from across the street at The Gran what is the guest pass fee for the wedding? Is it the $149 dollars? I'd like to offer a more inexpensive resort option to my guests!
  17. And one more question How much is the light up dance floor? Is there a way to get this without booking a DJ?
  18. I am new to this process. Currently looking at The Royal as an option, but I'm confused as to why the beach would be $400 dollars extra at 4 pm? Can anyone tell me why this is?
  19. Congrats to you too! I'm really jealous yours is so soon! It's a weird situation because I'm not engaged yet. Hopefully soon! He has the ring My boyfriend has blackout dates for vacation next year when they convert software at work. He is one of the main people for the conversion. We have to have a date picked so he can make sure they don't convert that month! In order to have a date we need a venue! Lol I haven't checked out Grand Sunset Princess yet! My top choice was VIM, but it was too pricy! Riu is adding up with the private reception fee When are you going to book your venue?
  20. Okay I think they are two different hotels after doing some research http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g150812-d596668-Reviews-Riu_Palace_Riviera_Maya-Playa_del_Carmen_Yucatan_Peninsula.html http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g150812-d219633-Reviews-Riu_Palace_Mexico-Playa_del_Carmen_Yucatan_Peninsula.html Both are in Riviera Maya, but Riu Mexico was just renovated! It has the pretty purple When are you looking at getting married MrsShoreyToBe? I'm hoping for 9/20/14!
  21. I just want to make sure I am in the correct place. Riu RM stands for Riu Mexico right? As in the newly renovated hotel? I have fallen in love with this hotel.
  22. I need a price list for the wedding packages and any extra items. Thanks
  23. A Facebook group sounds like a great idea! Alot of people don't check emails. Itd be a good way to get out updates!
  24. From my experience Dominican and Jamaica is a little more than Mexico. Have you looked in to Mexico?
