You posted in the "Any other 2014 brides here getting an early start?". I happen to know since I just saw your other post. Too big = alteration. Too small= motivation. Well, at least, you have eliminated 2 choices! I like so many of them too. I need to start looking more seriously...I don't want to wait until the last minute, then just pull a dress off the rack!

Yes...sometimes things are a little backwards on here. Aren't they? lol But, knowing my weight and height before my name seems like the introduction for something like Overweight Anonymous. haha My FH has not been out of the country yet. So, he doesn't quite know what to expect. But, FL is humid so it's somewhat comparable. Confession...sometimes I will be wearing a cute outfit where unfortunately my stomach sticks out too much. I just picture it as a baby bump and smile bc like you, at least I will know that it will be cute. Then the moment is over....and I go grab my Spanx!!! lol Thanks for the advice about my hair and makeup...it seems so obvious too! But, I probably would have left the house with no makeup and my hair in a bun or something. lol

So why are you getting married almost a year apart? I know the veil is part of it. I will have to think about it some more. It will help when I find the dress...that way if I feel like the veil is missing, then I know it's a go! I was in S. Ontario (for a day. lol) last summer. When I went to Niagara, it was summer then too. It's actually not bad up there. Snow in May? Something like that seems mentally perplexing! haha Hmm...I don't really like wine. But, I'm willing to try most foods/drinks at least once. Quote: Originally Posted by Jenny2014 Exactly! To me, it makes me look a bride, so.... for me, it was a non-negotiable. Niagara Falls is beautiful all year round, but you appreciate it much more when it is summer here. Southern Ontario is gorgeous in summer and fall.... but winter, ugh, I absolutely hate it here. Especially this year... winter has gone on and on and on. Take today, it is warm and sunny out and I was so excited to see that. Still am. And worried because it is currently snowing in Texas, which means that is probably coming here, and I DO NOT want snow in May. No, ice wine isn't just Canadian wine (but how freaking awesome would that be!). We have regular wine (Niagara wine has really stepped it's wine game up within the past few years). Ice wine is when they make wine using frozen grapes- so it is super sweet. I LOVE it, and if you like sweet things, I would suggest buying a bottle at some point in your life. It can be very expensive (as all delicious things are), but so worth it. It is an acquired taste- people either love it, or dislike it. I adore it, my best friend, who drinks the exact same kind of wine on a regular basis as me, despises it. It's a dessert kind of wine, and you can only have a little bit of it at a time (because of the sweetness).

Thanks for embedding the pics, Jenny! I love the way the menu looks. The top reception site pic has a nice elegance about it! -
At least with a homemade veil, you know that it will be you! You can tell her exactly how you want it (and it will be really special if you have a daughter. It will give a new meaning to something old ) I'm debating if I want to wear a veil. It might be so windy on the beach that it could be distracting. Niagara Falls...looks beautiful with the light show. I'm glad someone told us about that, even though there was only 20 mins left to see it (still plenty of time). It's a must see! So, I gotta ask...I don't drink wine. I know a few things. But, what is ice wine? Is a Canadian term for wine? haha

I mean you know my weight, height and now name (interesting how you knew about my weight and height before my name.lol). So I thought it was time for a little joke. lol. I'm sure you had to take a sip after you read that comment LOL YES, something like that (plus a similar bodice to yours)! I want it to have some movement as I walk down the aisle on the beach. Plus, it might be more forgiving! As far as the heat goes, my FH wanted to wear a sand (color) linen suit. (I had to put color because I didn't want you guys to think my dress would be TP and duct tape and his suit was made out of sand. LOL) But, I told him he would be wearing more of a sweat suit than anything else. lol So now, we are on to my more comfortable option for him. Well, things do tend to happen when you least expect them. At least, finding the dress is one less thing that you have to worry about. With having a dress that you want to look a certain way in...you are killing two birds with one stone I understand what you mean about having the "baby bump" and wanting one...just not now. That's what my stomach looks like in certain clothes. I was upset when one of my relatives asked me if I was pregnant right after my college graduation. Literally, right after the ceremony was over. It's like you just saw me yesterday. You could have asked me then. Thanks for putting a cloud over my special day. Because I wanted to be reminded about how I was overweight that day! smh I love stirfry. I love how you can mix it up with different veggies, sauces, rice or pasta (or neither). What's even better is that it's mostly veggies you have eat a lot of it, so you can actually be full!!! I will let you know how dress shopping goes! I'm sure I will have fun. Just have to remember to eat first so that I have the energy to try everything on. haha Nice to (virtually) become more acquainted too, Jenny!

AstroTurf is different. At least she went with something traditional the day of her wedding, could you imagine those wedding pics in like 30-50 yrs from now if it was an astroturf wedding dress! lol Yay for not drinking calories! Btw, we know Jenny's name, now we know my name is Niki....so now, it's your turn!

YES! This is how some of our convos went.... Me: Talking about topic. (pause) Ask question. (Look at FH, if present) FH: "What? I'm listening." Me: "I just asked you a question." (Next two lines may or may not occur) [FH: States topic from 5 mins ago. Me: "No, I was talking about that 5 mins ago.] FH: "Oh, I wasn't listening!" Me: *sigh* Remind back to topic in order to ask question. OR Me: Talking about topic (pause) Ask question. (Look at FH, if present) FH: "What? I'm listening." Me: "I just asked you a question." FH: "Yes." Me: (Pause) "That's not even an answer for what I asked." FH: "Oh. (pause) What did you ask then?" Me: Repeats question I have more of these scenarios...but, I'm not trying to entertain you ladies too much! LOL You other ladies need to share now!!! -

Yes! I've heard that one too! He said he would have been happy with a wedding a city hall. So with this DW, he said that as long as the two of us are there, the rest doesn't matter. BUT, that is bound to change without notice when I talk about an idea and the price of it! lol -

LOL! Similar situation with my FH. The amount of wedding talk they seem to be able to handle is about 1min a month! LOL. I'm happy when he actually asks me about something wedding related -
Jenny, this place looks amazing!!! A little expensive...something to put on my bucket list! I will have to show this to my FH!

I don't know if I have heard of a newsletter STD. If you have some e-pics along with what you described, I think it could be cool. On the forum, you can also find passport STDs. Since I know that you are going on a cruise, I think that could set the scene! Examples for pages could include your dating story, your engagement story, e-pics, join us aboard the high seas (or something like that), whatever other info you would like them to know. Here is the link to the passport STDs: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/newsearch?search=passport+STD

You're welcome! It feels nice to be welcomed esp since there is so much going on here! Just to clarify, are you referring to Dec 2013-March 2014? Do you have an idea of which island/country you would like to be married in/on? (certain places are tricky to get married in) Have you ever been on a cruise before? I know what you mean! It's like going in slow motion...then you get ideas from lots of creative brides and it just inspires you! My FH and I plan on taking the 7 day Carnival Legend cruise. It will be leaving on April 6, 2014. We will be getting married on Friday April 11, in Grand Cayman. I have contacted several WC on the island to get an idea about prices. As of now, I have found the base price for one as $700...that's the cheapest I've found so far. So, I haven't set the date in stone with anyone on the island yet. One of the reasons is because you have to put down a deposit. I want to make sure that my FH and I like the WC (since she will also be marrying us). While a month or two, I think we will have that set up. Plus, I'm also trying to weigh out the pros and cons of each location. As far as being on top of things, it just comes with all the time invested into this. Remember the process should be fun...otherwise, it's just another job/task to check off the list. It's a once in a lifetime experience! Live it to the fullest!!! Hope I was able to answer everything! Look forward to talking more about DW cruises!

Yes, I'm sure Google and Pinterest would be helpful! Whenever I talk about this site and the idea from a certain person, I'm always trying to figure out how to word things. LOL -
You will really love this site if you take the time to stick around! I love this site!!! If you are able to stick around, you might even find that you will have some BDW buddies on here! All the ladies are lovely! But, you hit it off with some! They tend to offer amazing advice, support, etc. When are you thinking about getting married? I think I saw you on the DW cruise board (and I think I replied to you actually. lol). That board is not as active as others. So, if you have any cruise related questions, feel free to DM me! I would love to help! Here are some links that you might find useful: Some cost saving tips from current and fellow brides and brides to be: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/33804/10-budgeting-tips-for-the-frugal-minded/ If you are interested in creating a wedding binder, I have started a thread here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/86044/creating-a-customized-wedding-binder/

While they don't have to match, it could be a fun challenge. You might have to test try these ideas while doing wedding planning lol For pink ideas, Strawberry lemonade, rum and Sprite with a lime wedge Watermelon Sangria Cherry limeade with tequila and vodka/rum Recently, I had a drink with lemonade, (sweet) tea and either rum or vodka. It was good!

Congrats on just starting! Do you have any ideas on what you want yet? I am planning on going on the Carnival Legend (if though I have never been on a Carnival ship, I'm a RCCL girl...but, they didn't have a cruise for me ). We are getting married on the beach in GC...we figured after going all that way, we might as well put our feet in the sand!

OH MY!!! That is a breathtaking bouquet ....ESP with your dress!!!!! You better post/email me a pic with you AND your bouquet !!! (Your FH or DH, by then, can be in the pic too! LOL) With a bouquet like that, I can see why you get it for your bday and why you must include them in your wedding!!!! I read the comment you posted about the white flowers instead of the orange...I think the orange is awkward in the bouquet. It's funny I kind of mentally blocked them out when I have been looking at the pic. lol You know you could even get away with just the lilies and orchid. The white flowers might distract because it is so colorful! When doesn't a wedding related service provider want to charge you an arm and a leg?!? I'm waiting for the WC that I want to start this contest or whatever to give away a wedding package worth $1500...I'm determined to win!!! lol -
My dress is going to be made of 2 ply toilet paper or decorative duct tape....or both. They are cheaper than fabric...and very unique! I have to cut costs somewhere!!!! No, I'm just kidding!!!!!!! LOL! I can only imagine what you were thinking! LOL! That doesn't even sound sane! Actually, I need to figure out how to describe what I want. At this point, at least you know that it will be better than my original description! ha. I want it to be more of a special occasion dress. I want something white, long skirt, strapless in a flowy material (silk/chiffon, possibly). I basically think I want a beach chic (think that's how you might describe it) sundress. I love the bodice on yours, Jenny. So maybe something with that would be nice! I just don't want anything heavy! I'm not trying to sweat 5 lbs off just wearing the dress. That's no fun! lol, you're funny, Jenny! CAKnight does seem kind of impersonal...My name is Niki

Wow...21 months! I don't know if that makes me a procrastinator...or you are amazingly productive/lucky to have found your dress! lol. But, at least you have a virtual to help you along! I love being able to see my stomach slowly shrinking or the zipper coming closer together! With 21 months you know that you won't have to live off of celery ("negative" calorie food) and drinking prune juice or something! LOL! My mom and Nana (grandma) don't live in the same state as I do. They are coming to town Thursday AM...so I am super excited. We plan on going dress hunting so they get to share in the experience with me. So, I'm glad you're going to do that with your family too.

I've never seen heard of a blue orchid before! I just had to Google it! BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait to see your bouquet!
