  1. @@TinkerSofi So here is what I did: 1. figured out what shape album I would probably make....I picked square. 2. I created a square form in photoshop with different questions I saw on Pinterest...make sure it is the same size as the album page you want to make. I couldn't find the Photoshop file this morning but I will post it for you if I can find it. this one was filled out by the brides brother, I like having peoples handwriting...I had considered typing them all out in a new form but I didn't...and I'm glad I didn't. 3. I created some signs using wooded dowels from the dollar store and card stock...there are so many printable's 4. lucky for me we were in Vegas so there were tons of places to buy props once we got there, I did buy a few things like paper beards and easy to pack things here. 5. I bought a foil curtain to tape to the wall as a back drop...but I didn't end up using it because the room where we had the reception had a huge crazy red velvet curtain...so I just sat people in front of that. 6. I used my Nikon and on camera flash to take the pictures, but I actually put the pictures on my phone and edited them with instagram so they all looked the same... I got my friend Lisa or My FI to take the pictures when I was in the picture. I made sure to get at least 1 of every couple attending first and gave them their form to fill out. After all the couples were done we had a few random weird ones. So the best thing about this is you can tailor it to fit your wedding...the one I did was very Vegasy...but depending on the props you can change it to suit your wedding / location. You can also get or DIY alot of paper props that are easy to transport...check party stores, dollar stores etc. Having the camera set up with a remote is a good idea but I would still have someone in charge of making sure everyone fills out the form and gets at least one picture taken. I think the on camera flash will be fine...have your dad make sure the camera is set to auto and the Focus is right...otherwise you will end up with blurry pics! Alternatively you could easily use a regular camera phone to take the pictures...there are also some good photobooth apps....but a cell phone or small camera may be harder to keep track of you may want to have someone take the pics if you do that. Hope this helps

    Guest Book

A guest book I made for my Friend
  3. So your guestbook!! I love the idea of a photo booth and I love the idea of a sheet to be filled out... I did this for my friend at her destination wedding in Vegas! I took pics of everyone in the photbooth and then had them fill out a sheet I had made with questions like... What was your favourite part of the trip? What is your one wish for the couple? How many children should they have? Boys name girls name? When you are married you should always.... Or you should never..... I can't remember the rest right now. Once I got home I scanned the sheet and created a photo book for her with photo book Canada .. I had a groupon... One page had a picture of a person or couple and the opposite page had their message.... At then end I put in all the random photo booth pics in a heart shape collage ... She loved it!! The pics were so fun and the info sheets where all different and funny. I might repeat it for my wedding... Maybe I can send you an example tomorrow if you want I'm in bed right now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. @@marinah84 OMG!! That's horrible!!! Take care of yourself for the next three weeks and perhaps it will be ok by then! I have my fingers cross for you that you won't need surgery! Sending all my good karma and well wishes your way! Positive thoughts! Positive thoughts! My FI cracked off his front tooth over the weekend... Right to the gum... Has to get a crown and a post! It's going to take a month to fix... thank god it happened now instead of a few weeks before the wedding! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. How exciting!!! Just three weeks!! I just had 44 people put down deposits from all over Canada....how many people did you have book after the initial deposit deadline? I'm trying to get a good estimate for my revised budget. Did you choose any extras? Private reception? DJ mania? Beach party? I really have so many questions I don't know what to ask?! But I'll be looking forward to your review and pictures after the wedding for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. @@Kerrierf That's a hard one...I think I would go for the open bar, rather than make the other guests miss out for the sake of one badly behaved person...There must be another way to control your unruly brother! I definitely think it will be missed because people are going to assume it's an open bar just because it is an all-inclusive resort...Most people wont even realize you have to pay extra for that. But then again my family are newfies so drinking is a big part of a wedding for us...even though I don't actually drink...so maybe it depends on what you think your friends and family will miss.
  11. Hey Everybody!! This Thread has been a little quiet lately...My booking deadline was today...I have 44 people put down a deposit...including me and my FI and our Photographer...its finally starting to feel real! Now for the FUN planning part!! @shevette925 @Alicia328 @@Everly @@samilein @@Kerrierf how is the planning going?? @@Kerrierf it's getting closer!!! 13. I'm getting married legal in Newfoundland this summer so my two Nan's can feel like they were a part of it. It's just me, my FI, our parents and my Nan's. I'm going to have to get semi dressed up cuz she's going to want a nice picture. His parents are really old as well ...same as age as my Nan's so just in case something happens and they can't go we have it covered... If it weren't for my nan I would just do it here in city hall with just a random witness in my jeans... Lol. My real wedding is in Punta Cana ... That's the date that I will use for my anniversary... However my WC requires a legal marriage certificate to do our symbolic wedding... Not sure why but I guess I should have it by Nov. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Awesome review!!! Looks like it was a fantastic time! Your dad sounds like a trooper I hope he's ok! I'm already stressed and I haven't even gotten to the decorations yet!! I will definitely take your advice and relax a bit!! Congrats and I wish you many more years of love and happiness!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. @@HilaryMWren I did a postcard...I don't know if I would call it a Save the Date or an invitation...but like @@calgarybride2015 It had basic info and directed them to the website...I also had 90 days to put down a deposit. My last day for deposits is Feb 18th...so far no one has booked....eeek...it is very stressful! although at least 20 have RSVP'd thank goodness or I would loose my mind!
  16. @@jencakes Welcome!! You have found the Jackpot of Destination Wedding info for sure!! Getting a TA and Group quote is definitely they way to go...it keeps your group together...allows you to stay close together if you are booking a large resort....everyone's information and travel questions are handled by the TA and it was easier to coordinate everyone. You also can just put down a deposit and pay the trip off...which is really helpful for guests who may not be able to just a pay a trip down right away. Most groups quotes are around the same price as the website (sometimes $100 higher or lower) but it ensures that no one in your group will get screwed with a really high price. Most tour operators will also price match or have guarantees. My DW planning experience has been a bit of a mess so If I were to start again I would: 1. Figure out a budget range for Travel and for the wedding... there will be different prices from different locations if all your guests aren't from TO...so for example...$1500-2000per person travel....$12,000 wedding budget 2. Figure out where I would want to go and when, but be flexible.....either early spring or late fall...1st Choice St. Lucia...2nd Choice Punta Cana...3rd choice Mexico...find out what the marriage requirements are for a legal or symbolic wedding 3. Find a travel agent and get advice... They can tell you everything you need to know give you suggestions and research resorts in your price range...some will even help coordinate the actual wedding with the resort. I personally would choose a TA I can go see in person. 4. Have my guest list ready to go...let most of them know what we are planning so they know it coming soon. This is because as soon as you choose a place you usually have 30-90 days for your guests to put down a deposit...or you can choose to put down all of the deposit yourself. Also most travel packages will require a certain number of people from each place. As well the actual wedding package will be an amount but the extras are per person 5. Compare suggestions for Tour operators and resorts from TA for Price, Perks, baggage allowances, Wedding Packages (watch out for extras with the wedding packages...remember nothing is ever really free! my current wedding package says $730...but with all the extras it will be closer to $7000) and then choose one. 6. Then start the wedding planning part...Get your wedding date... remember most places will require you to be at the resort 1-2 days before your wedding...if you are doing a legal wedding you may need time to fulfil any legal requirement obtain a licence...etc. 7. Once you have a Wedding Date and Travel sorted it's smooth sailing...send out invites...make a website or facebook page...easy way to get info out to your guests... This is kind of where I am now so after this I have no advice! Just be flexible starting out.. this was my downfall! ...lol I am in Toronto as well and I had a really awful time finding someone to help me. I tried a few different TA's that were located else where and was having a hard time getting a response...the destination wedding company's in TO got terrible reviews and I was scared to use them. Finally what I did was walked into a travel agency next to my work and used them... I need face to face...no way to ignore me kind of service. Unlike @@calgarybride2015 I already had a place (our First vacay location) and a date (our first date...which we ended up changing) picked out.. I just need to get everyone there...it was not easy..In fact our TA is fighting with my tour operator as we speak to get a lower price....because it is showing up online at almost $700 per person cheaper!! Let me note here that this is not the norm with group quotes...this is just my luck...ha. I also have the majority of my guests are not out of TO but all over canada (mainly east coasters) so my only choice of tour operators were Air Canada and Westjet for that time of year. If the majority of your guests are coming from TO you will have a lot more choice of tour operator and resorts. Going with a group quote you do get benefits...I'm getting every 11th person is free...I'm going to use it to bring my photographer down saving me some in my wedding budget. Any free packages after that we will use for us or a family member. Good luck
