  1. This entire thread was so helpful guys! Wondering... If we wanted to have the wedding on cite at melia what would the cost be to JUST have the ceremony there and then head to jellyfish ? More cost effective to have wedding AND reception at jellyfish? I watched a few vids of this place tonight and love the set up, but wonder if we will end up paying loads more to have a wedding at melia then reception at jellyfish! I also wrote in the jellyfish thread that I'd love to see costs for a reception there; if any of you have the 2013/14 costs for jellyfish plz PM me?! Finally, if we had our photographers coming with us as guests, we would bypass that $1000 copywright fee for melia and jellyfish right ??
  2. Hey ladies! I've read through quite a few of the posts but don't see a potential 2014 price idea in here yet (it's late and i could be missing something lol). We are considering staying at the melia caribe, and having the wedding itself etc at the Jellyfish. I am wondering if one of you with current pricing could email me (PM me for my email?) the info about pricing. I'm wondering what we'd be looking at in terms of having - 40-50 people - bringing our OWN photographers (although we may reconsider if you all believe the jellyfish people know what they are doing lol) - hours that we can party for:) I've seen 1am listed here? THAT'S WHAT I LIKE TO HEAR! - also, what about transportation to jellyfish on wedding day, how does that work for guests etc? Any detailed ideas on this stuff would be so much appreciated. I am finding this resort search etc is full of unknowns and hidden fees, so any concrete ideas of what we'd be looking at for overall cost here would be much appreciated!
  3. http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_nkw=factory+21+travel+mug&_sacat=0&_odkw=factory+21+mug&_osacat=0&_from=R40 hey jreist! Is this the area you bought yours from?
  4. My future sis in law bought from here as did we as the bridesmaids, loved it there!
  5. Yahoo edmonton ladies! Joining in here, gotta catch up! Since I see dress talk, I'll share that I found my dress this past weekend in calgary at jessica bridal, was so happy with the service and wrote an email to the company to explain my deepest thanks to our saleswoman Juanita who was amazing. She made my sister (and MOH) and I feel so special! Dress was 379, my sis surprised me by buying it, couldn't believe it but thanked her immensely! Was in love with MSottero dresses, but after trying on similar ones/a few maggies, they were too heavy for what I wanted. I am addicted to bling on the dresses though and found one that is just perfect for me!
  6. Holly u have helped me so much with getting a full pic! We have ppl flying from Calgary, Edmonton, and New Brunswick so this is a fantastic comparison. Mind if I PM U?
  7. Following up, I emailed Lupita the following (her responses were in green, and then I have the newest reply BACK to her below that in pink) For us then, if we have 40 people, we are looking at - 2 different locations available for private reception (beach or elite palapa) - $500-600 dollars - NEITHER LOCATION CAN HOST A RECEPTION BEYOND 10:30PM? At the Royal Elite Palapa you can stay until 12:00am, on the beach we can not stay longer than 10:30pm - $49 for 40 people = $1960 for dinner (SO A PRIVATE AREA INCLUDES NO # OF PEOPLE, ALL GUESTS HAVE TO BE PAID PER HEAD?) The private area includes, all the set up as the cahirs tables, plaque, table clothes, white wine, red wine, beer, water and sodas - $18 for all 40 people (liquor) = $720 The open bar is 18usd per person per hour ------(FROM TODAY, BELOW) ----- Thanks so much, I've calculated an estimated price based on our needs. Please advise if I've got it all correct! Symbolic caribe package - 1500 Private reception area - 600 (elite palapa) ***IS THE PALAPA LARGE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT 40 OR SO PEOPLE AND A DANCE AREA? Reception food: $49 for 40 people = $1960 for dinner Set up fee at palapa - $0 (unless "extras" are requested) Liquor for the palapa rental - you indicated 18 pp, per hour. Is there ANY amount of hours included in the private reception area? Or would we be paying 18 per person, per hour, but about 3 hrs? (ie 720X3 = 2160)...I saw you mentioned that WINE AND BEER is included in the private area of the palapa...I am wanting to clarify WHAT alcohol costs would be for us total.
  8. This confirms why I was so set on this place after speaking with Joyce I am PM'ing you now! Would love to see pics once you have them!
  9. Thank you for your response! Is there another area around the bahia resorts that has an "outdoors" feel to it but perhaps less of an extra cost? eg. gazebo area, etc.? So with the poolside, you paid per person period, no amount of people were included in a package at all?
  10. LOL the glaze over...I always chuckle when I think of the fact that men have the ability to flatline their brain activity while still breathing lol. It must come in handy HAHA!
  11. Lol same here- I've gone from talking about my "fighter diet (fitness lifestyle) forum" to "the wedding forum" with my fiancé, and he is already getting tired of hearing about it... It's been 3 weeks since our engagement MWAHAHA!!!
  12. The fans like these http://www.dhgate.com/wholesale/wedding+favors+fans.html Are fairly inexpensive, maybe a dollar or two on some cites that sell cheaper wedding favors Etc(I know there is a very helpful thread relating to fans especially somewhere in here!)... We plan on getting these to bring with us as they pack very well I would think and I am sure people would appreciate the fanning!
  13. From what i hear, most women don't TRASH the dress per say, but have it cleaned after they roll around in sand, get soaked, etc. my friend had the resort clean hers and it looked brand new again. Just depends on what you're comfortable with! But I definitely don't plan on getting rid of mine!
  14. I completely feel where you're coming from, and i think most people approach it as an individual decision. For example, we found our Bridesmaid dresses for 40 dollars. the girls were more than happy to pay this price themselves! I believe many people are prepared to pay for their outfits/rentals in terms of the bridal party. As for hair and makeup, I think this is where DWs can be great for the bridal party in terms of "extra pampering" for them... We are thinking of paying to have all the girl's hair and makeup done so that we can all be on a similar page in terms of "how" the makeup looks, and this may also help all the girls fret less about ensuring their hair and makeup stands the test of wind and hot weather! In the end, I think it's just important that you and your partner decide on this together
  15. @ckl, I emailed the resort about all of these extra details - cost of "private' venues, cost of each dinner plate/liquor service above the package capacity etc. I'll post here once I get the info for anyone interested!
  16. hey ladies does anyone have a full price list doc? I am looking at their website now and it isn't very helpful... I am happy to PM you my email addy if possible!
  17. hey Holly (and others!) I'm still a newb navigating in here and trying to see what popular resorts resonate with people, esp. those with a larger guest list (like we expect!). Holly, was your poolside reception an additional cost? Did you go with the unforgettable package? I've just emailed the resort with q's about additional costs over the package's 30 people for dinner/alcohol, and also inquired about whether a semi private area (e.g poolside which I ADORE!!) has an additional cost. this place seems like it could be very cost effective for our guest budget of 1500 and wedding budget of less than 15,000. If any of you have a larger wedding party and made a wonderful poolside reception work, I'd love to hear all about it!
  18. Actually I had more specifics - the dreams tulum indicates that a private reception cost (in the "additional a la cart options of the PDF) is $800 plus the cost of food itself. i see with the ultimate package that it indicates "special reception gold menu" for 20 people - does this mean you can have your "special" reception ANYWHERE lol?
  19. DITTO! I had similar questions as MoodyC Also, for those who did the ultimate (or even dreams of love) package(s), how much was the cost for extra guests? eg if you have a private reception with the dance floor (by the way how much is this??), and you have over 20 people, what is the cost per person for dinner/alcohol?
  20. LOL INDEED! I'm off to lift the iron, catch you ladies on the flip side
