  1. Hezmshaw thank you for that perspective and for all our helpful info! Would u mind sharing what resort u booked at?
  2. Anasteele- sorry I forgot to mention this! We had thought 6 nights but will see what 5 can do! Thank u! What resort did u use/plan to use?
  3. Hi all, Was wondering which if you ladies may have a guest budget of around 1500-1700. To those of you who do, which resort have u found to be most fitting? We are finding that even though a resort may fit with our wedding budget ($15 000), we then see that guest costs aren't within our ideal lines. We do NOT want to ask people to put up more than 1700. But then I also find that with resorts and having 50 people, the wedding budget gets out of control with the supper and alcohol costs per person over X number in the package. Appreciate any and all feedback from u lovely ladies
  4. Exactly - the boidour shots seem to be more prevalent than ever as gifts for the G!

  6. Love the Reese:) And ironman- I'm in Edmonton too! I actually just arrived in Calgary this afternoon to go for my first round of shopping with my sister. First apt is at a place that carries MAGGIE! 1 hour to go yipeee!! Your dress looks lovely on you!!!
  7. I am obsessed too! Only thing is the prices are 4000-5000 for wedding alone based on what we received (PDF). They trash the dresses are then at least another 1500...
  8. CAKnight, perhaps a keep sake/card from early in the relationship? Eg first anniversary card? Or maybe stones with writing on them, tiny messages or words that mean something to both of u...
  9. 150 is AMAZING! I wil definitely dig for a deal. And a few drinks before, HAHA love it!!!!!
  10. Thank you Emma, that's great to know! I'm going to msg him now and see what we can work out with him potentially. If you happen to feel like sharing what your budget was, and what you worked out with him, I'd love to PM with you! We are hoping to keep our photo budget around 3000.
  11. I knew nothing about brands etc and was so lost when I first went looking for dresses online. However, MS has become my obsession lol! Have any of you heard anythign about http://www.topspartner.com/? I found the caprice on there which I love, although i am only going for my first actual dress shopping spree this weekend witth my sis. I'm tall (5'10) so some of these second hand MS dresses don't seem long enough for me based on the hemming most brides do to the dresses! If any of you have recommendations on wwhere to find dresses from MS online, without the insane price tag, would love to know
  12. Good to have more details on this aspect of DWs! We plan on getting married at the courthouse right before we leave, so that on the wedding day itself we will "finalizing" the big day!!!
  13. Eeek she has my dress lol! http://www.topspartner.com/index.php?dispatch=products.search&features_hash=V1#2 Maggie sottero caprice! I head to calgary (city over) to go dress shopping for the first time tomorrow! Going with my older sis and MOH, can't wait!
  14. Dalia Nada, gorggeeouss! Wondering if any of you have heard of topspartner.com? I did a search in here but no go. My friend got 2 dresses from this lady in the company (from China, lady's name is Kathy) and the dresses had great workmanship. I am in love with Maggie Sottero's Caprice dress and have thought about asking some of the companies in china to make it. If any of you have heard of topspartner.com specifically plz advise! Here is my friend's dress, their wedding is under "Jesse and Emily" - http://www.reinercarlos.com/category/destination/
  15. THank you Holly! That karaoke definitely sounds so fun
  16. Love the ideas in here, copied a bunch of ideas for us possibly! And the 10 yr anniversary box looks SO NEAT!
  17. Thanks Shannon! I have so many emails going on with resorts from inquiring about the additional plate costs, need to update my crazy spreadsheet to really get down to the nitty gritty lol.
  18. Love it Katy! Gorgeous! I've also heard these things cost a pretty penny, but I have to make a boudoir session happen lol!
  19. Great news Emma! I've been checking into local photographers based on the great reviews here and Gonzalo was one of them I really liked. Do you mind me asking how he quoted you on working for most of the wedding day and a TTD?
  20. My fiance and I spoke about the whole DJ/service at the reception and we quickly realized we wanted to leave this cost out. An ipod is what tons of brides seem to do; some women on here have family who are DJs and we are the same; my bro in law is one, and I have no doubt that he could help us create a crazy mix of stuff that will keep us going the whole night. Given that DJs and equipment can bring u up another 1000-1500, I think it's money well saved, but it always depends on what you prioritize and envision for your day Ditto on feeling weird about having a registry etc. I was talking with one of my bridesmaids about this in relation to my shower/stagette. I said I'll just rergister us for the honeymoon stuff and then at another location that will suit my fiance and I. I hate to think of people buying us gifts!!
  21. Hey KK! THank you for this lol, I was brain dead by the end of this post lol. Do you mean a paradissus resort in miami can tell me the prices beyond 10 ppl?
  22. Hope all you lovely April Brides are having the time of your lives! My bday is April 17th, love that a bunch of you were getting married around that time lol!
  23. Lupita sent me the pdf of their 2012/13 packages, do you need this Bride2B2014?
  24. Hello fellow Canadian Ladies! My name is Katie and I wanted to jump in here to introduce myself! I just got engaged on April 6th (yipee!) but we are heading forward full speed ahead to plan our wedding for sometime between march-may of 2014!!!! Our TA is a good friend of ours who has planned other DWs and planned her own ccruise wedding which we attended last year. I love the recent discussion about pinata and karaoke! We are still trying to decide on a place that will hold our 35-45 guests and somewhere that will not overload us with extra pricing when it comes to dinner in a semi-private area. Playa del carmen is increasingly becoming our location I think, but we'll see! Happy planning ladies!
  25. I am also interested in this for sure! I don't understand how resorts don't offer reception dinners in their packages, sheesh! If you post this under the NOW Jade thread you may be more successful with hearing from people
