K I'm officially following this thread..Talk of red and purple (love the idea!), drinking (despite the fact that we drink less than we talk about it), and how we should be doing school work when we're on here. LOL! I am finishing my masters right now (defending in july) and it's been a whirlwind since getting engaged lol. I'm glued to this forum!

Hey Kim! I would think that your niece's mom would definitely pack plenty for her to do; perhaps some of the guests will be available to babysit to some effect later in the evening as well? I know my sis and bro in law are likely bringing their boy and girl (who will be in the wedding with us as well), and feel great about doing so because grammy and grampy will be around to babysit throughout the resort time! LOL

yes for sure! I am so relieved and I still can't thank my sis and bro in law enough for taking care of that for us I will post pics in a bit likely, I am paranoid about pics being in cyberspace for my groom to find LOL! My sis took some great shots, I'm trying to get them this week from her

This is helpful guys thank you! It all will depend in part on wherre we stay because I've heard for instance that some clubs in resorts close at 12am, etc. I cannot wait to book a DATE AND RESORT! baahhh! lol

Hey ladies! I just checked out Botafogo and Chilis on google, and was wondering how you would set up the dancefloor for a reception at these places?? I'd love the idea of outside, is there a patio at Chilis then? Any pics would be great to see, I'll keep roaming the forum for more info perhaps

Hey there misskay!!! I may be jumping in here but thought id offer my 2 cents... R u in Canada/us? I'm in Canada and heard about the whole "marriage isn't legal in Mexico" thing lol. So my fiancé and I decided to go to a courthouse right before we leave for Mexico and get married... This way when we are standing at the alter, whether it be symbolic or civil ceremony, we will "officially" be married at that point!

Hey all! I wasn't quite sure where this topic would go, so I will likely post in another thread as well. My fiancé and I are currently discussing the length that we would like for our reception (ie length of liquor and dj/music services). We would like a private area either poolside et cetera. However it seems like most packages include only three hours of service. This usually brings people to 10:30 PM. Then everything comes down in terms of reception set up. In my opinion it seems like people would definitely want to party way past 1030. What is your opinion about how important a longer reception is? Do many of you plan to go to the resort club to party after 1030? Or will you be extending the reception because you really want more time alone with your reception party? I've heard that some resorts have some great clubs which could be an option if we could get a large group in. I'd love to get some feedback on this. I don't know a whole lot of people who have done DW's so it's great to see what other couples prioritize with regards to reception! - Katie xo

So glad to see that lots of us still love to have things on PAPER! I am so lost with trying to make sense of all the packages for example, and simply printing out all the details would be easier than opening these dang pdfs everyday! lol Wonderful idea, and I love, love, love binders and stationary lol.

Ironman thank you for your awesome input (once again!!!) The time of year factor is huge. We deliberately did not set a specific date because we don't care! What we want is to find a good price for our guests. As such, we are thinking February or March, early March. We are hoping to meet with TA this weekend. Since first talking to her we have done tons of research on Expedia.ca. We have found that it is completely possible to find a five-star resort for under 15 or $1600. This makes us hopeful that we can find something through our travel agent!!! I will pm u my email an I would LOVE to see your spreadsheet! I LOVE SPREADSHEETS LOL.

Congrats Carla! Can't wait to see it once it comes in. I found my dress this last weekend, 3 weeks after getting engaged LOL! Went to Calgary to do this special visit to stores with my sis and MOH, and feel so blessed to have her as a sis and to have found THE dress for me!!!! And $400!???! Amazing, and my sis was so kind and surprised me by buying it! Needless to say lots of happy tears

Hezmshaw, I am beginning to see that the process of DWs always bring their hiccups, including guests not being happy about this or that. We can only do the best we can and I am so sure u and your partner will have the time of your lives!!! I have also seen great things with the dreams resorts, was looking at their packages this evening! Do u mind me asking where else perhaps a bit cheaper u had been looking or would consider?
