  1. Hi Gillian, I would love to hear more about your wedding and reception. Is AB as pretty as the pictures seem? Who was the food and service? Did you use Lomas Travel for DJ, photographer, flowers, decorations, etc? If so, did they do a good job? Can't wait to hear more! Jenny
  2. The real touch flowers look great but how are you going to get them to the resort without getting them crushed in your luggage? Jenny
  3. I have stayed at the resort next door, Secrets Silversands. We are going there next weekend for the 3rd time in 3 years. We love it there but it may be more expensive. It is an adults-only resort. Since we have 4 teenagers coming to the wedding, we are looking at other options for our June 2014 wedding. Azul Sensatori is one of our top choices. Azul Beach is on the other side and is a 'sister' property to Azul Sensatori. One of these should be available. However, you may have to pay additional for some events at "AS". Check with your TA and Wedding Coordinator. Jenny
  4. Hi Tammy, I just listened to the Playacar Palace-Moon Palace webinar. Lots of great information. I was leaning towards having my wedding at either Azul Beach or Azul Sensatori but now I really like Playacar Palace. I hope I can decide after we have our site visits May 7 & 8. All three are beautiful options. Question about group bookings- I think we will be able to have 15 rooms for 3-4 nights each. My FI and I will stay a minimum of 7 nights wherever we book. What happens if I block 15 rooms and only get guests to confirm for 10? Or, if I block 15 rooms and end up needing 18? One more question about the Collections- my colors are red and ivory. I only want the red package but it does not qualify for the Resort Credits. Is there any other way to get Resort Credits? Again, thanks for the informative webinar. Jenny
  5. Do you have any other tips for dark skinned brides? I also have oily skin.
  6. Hello Jandl2013, I think there is usually a relationship between the Grand and the others but the details were confusing to me. That is, if kids stay at one of the other resorts, can they attend a wedding at the Grand? I agree it is exhausting to make a decision between so many excellent choices. I've narrowed my choices down to 3-5 resorts in the Riviera Maya area because: 1. A private or semi-private place for the ceremony that's not on the beach 2. Non-stop flights from the USA cities where most of the guests live to Cancun airport (Chicago and Houston) 3. Kids are welcome but there are separate areas for adults (our kids are 14-17) 4. Four star luxury all-inclusive with good food and drinks 5. For guests, about $1500/person for 3-4 nights, including airfare This is more or less my priority. When I get confused or see pictures of a pretty place, I try and remember what I need. Based on this, I chose Azul Beach Hotel, Azul Sensatori, Gran Porto Real, NOW Jade and Playacar Palace (the wedding is on the beach - but it's soooo pretty). All are in/near Riviera Maya, Mexico. My FI and I are doing site visits in 2 weeks. We should be able to make the decision after that. I wish you luck. It will be hard to make a bad decision. JennyPert
  7. Hello Jandl2013, I stayed at the Iberostar Grand in Montego Bay, Jamaica last year for a friend's wedding. The Iberostar is spectacular! Rooms are beautiful, food was good and the beach was one of the best. It's part of a complex of 3 separate resorts, each catering to a slightly different market. The Grand is top of the line all adults. I've been told the Iberostar property in Riviera Maya is similar. I recommend checking out Trip Advisor and Expedia to read the reviews.
  8. Best wishes to the May Brides. Please let us know how everything goes. I plan to do a site visit to AB on May 7 to make the final resort decision for my June 2014 wedding. Maybe I will see you there. I would love to see reviews and pictures.
  9. I have been to all inclusives in Riviera Maya. Usually, the staff works really hard to please. They make very little money so we always take a lot of dollar bills and pass them out to waiters, bus boys, housekeepers, bartenders and anyone else who does something nice for us. The higher level staff will sometimes refuse the tip but most are very appreciative. Don't stress out about the amount but a little kindness goes a long ways.

  11. Hi Seatkins, my Wedding Planner suggested that for me but I was leaning towards the Silver package. It seems to be a better deal to take the Pearl package and add on photography, DJ and decorations. Really appreciate this. Thanks again.

  13. Hello. My favorite color is red - apple red - not burgundy or dark coral. I am having trouble thinking of coordinating colors except for white or ivory. Does anyone have photos of red weddings, decor and flowers?

  15. Hi Seatkins22, did you use the Gold wedding package or did you select everything a la carte? I'm planning for June 2014 and think we'll have 30-40 guests. Many thanks for the info. Jenny

  17. Your flowers are beautiful! I was concerned about paying for ceremony flowers AND table centerpieces for the reception. Nice to know they are 'recycled'. I love roses so this would be perfect for me if they do it in red and white. Thanks for posting your lovely pictures.

  19. If I have a private event at Zavos Plaza, can you hire a DJ (through Lomas) and have a dance floor? Where is the 'best' location for a private event? I haven't booked yet but like the Sky Terrace option for June 6, 2014. Since the ceremony will be kinda private, we'd like a kinda private reception with dancing and a DJ. Suggestions , please. These forums have helped me so much. Really appreciate it.

  21. Great suggestion! I want red and white but didn't know how much they would charge to rent. I found this my using your link on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Inch-Organza-Fabrics-Yards-Wholesale/dp/B005WZIE2E/ref=sr_1_13?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1365556880&sr=1-13&keywords=organza+bolt I'm going to order it but should I get 1 red and 1 white? Or 2 reds? My colors are red and ivory but I don't want the red to be too much. What do you think?
  22. We are getting married in June 2014. We have arranged site visits to Azul Beach, Azul Sensatori, Playacar Palace and Gran Porto Real for the first week in May. I am using a destination wedding planner who has been great about answering questions and scheduling the site visits. She's helped me with the wedding website and STD email design. By the time we get back from Cancun in May, we will be ready to send the STD emails. I'm going to also have STD magnets made to send in Sept and "real" invitations to send in January. My top choices are the 2 Azul resorts since both have the Sky Wedding option. I read through the Frugal Bride thread and got some great ideas for the OOT bags and decorations. Is anyone planning on bringing their own table linens and centerpieces? I feel somewhat under control since I've gotten a lot of info about everything including music (to DJ or not?) and photographers. I love this site!
  23. My wedding planner was having a lot of trouble getting a response from NOW Jade plus I read a lot of complaints from brides on the NOW Jade forum saying it was taking a long time for the WC there to get back to them. I decided I don't want to be bothered and stressed out. We are visiting Azul Beach and Azul Sensatori in about 3 weeks. I know one of these will be right for us.
