  1. How many Chinese lanterns do you have? Are they all white? Do they have LED lights?
  2. My TA also recommended the premium swim out which we booked. Although, we would prefer one of the honeymoon suites or a Presidential or a Royal suite. with the large balcony and a direct view of the ocean. But, it is just too expensive. If I win the Lottery between now and next June, I will pay for the upgrade.
  3. Great - then I just need to figure out how much time we need. Many thanks. Jenny
  4. Thanks. I will make sure we have at least 2 hours for the photos. Carib Photo seems to be the cheapest option. Did you use them?
  5. How much time do most people need for photos? I am trying to decide on one of the photo packages. One hour doesn't seem enough but 4 hours is very expensive. Opinions, please.
  6. My advice is to read as many of the posts on this thread and the Official Azul Sensatori thread as you can. There is so much good information, you can plan everything and ease your nerves. :-). Also, look at the options and prices on the Lomas Travel website. They provide the outside vendors, decorations and flowers. Then, you can decide what you want to buy versus DIY or other options. Happy Planning! I have had a lot of fun with all of this! Jenny
  7. Hello, I am confirmed for June 6, 2014 at AS and have not yet contacted the Miami planner. We are discussing whether to get the Pearl or Silver package to go along with the Sky Wedding Package. The gold package seemed to be good for legal ceremonies but we are having a symbolic ceremony. Did you use all of the amentities of the gold package? We are also trying to decide if we want a DJ or an iPod. I've heard pros and cons of each. Nice to hear everything worked out with the iPod. Which photography package did you use? I don't have a problem going with Lomas but don't really know which package to select. Thanks, Jenny
  8. I looked at several sites before choosing Weddingwire.com. It is very easy to use and had a good selection of design templates. I found one that worked perfectly with my colors and theme. It is free with the option to purchase your own URL. I choose the free URL and sent it out to friends and family last week. I have had very positive feedback.
  9. I I will check out WeddingDJ but I don't think I can spend the time to select all of the music.
  10. I have never stayed at Azul Sensatori but we just got back last week from 7 nights at the resort next door, Secrets Silversands. This was our third visit in 3 years. The only time I had any trouble was last year on the day after I had 7 tequila shots at the bar. I was a little queasy the next day but felt better after coffee and eggs for breakfast. This year, I limited the tequila shots and had no problems. From everything I have heard the high end resorts work hard on food safety and clean water. Most people have few to no problems with stomach ailments.
  11. I just received my confirmation. My wedding will be June 6, 2014 at Azul Sensatori. I am very excited and will be pouring over all of the information on this forum. Thank you for organizing it so well. Jenny
  12. I recieved my confirmation from Azul Sensatori. My wedding date will be June 6, 2014. Now, the real fun begins!!!
  13. You can check the Lomas Travel website for live entertainment options. I'm thinking about a jazz guitarist. I am also thinking about making a playlist on an iPod, renting equipment from AS and not having a DJ. I need to find someone locally who program the iPod with the songs we want. Has anyone else done that?
  14. Has anyone ever used floating candles for the pool near Zavas Plaza? How many do you need to look nice?
  15. Hi Amanda, now you are making me sorry that we picked Azul Sensatori instead of Azul Beach. I am very happy for you. It sounds like it was fabulous. I hope you can post some pictures soon. Jenny
  16. Hi Dawn. The wedding is next June so I have lots of time to plan. By this time next year I will be nervous wreck if I don't have every detail planned down to the clothes we will wear every day!! I hate doing things at the last minute.
  17. Hi Carolyn, I have family and friends coming who range in age from 3 to 75 years old with the majority being 45-55. It seemed like there would be too much walking at the Royal and beach at the Royal and Gran Porto Real seemed crowded. The beach and the rooms at the Playacar Palace were fabulous. Location was near the ferry to Cozumel where you can go snorkeling at the Palace resort there. But, there were only 3 restaurants on site and I know the older people will not want to leave the resort to go to the shops and restaurants in Playa del Carmen. If you have a younger group then the Playacar would be great. You will find lots of excellent reviews for them. We chose Azul Sensatori because it has something for everyone. It has a child care center for the toddlers, a game room for the teens, a family section with connecting rooms and an adults only section for those who don't want to hear the kids. Plus, I really like the Sky Wedding option and hope to have the reception at Zavas Plaza. It is a beautiful property and I am excited about going there next year.
  18. We just made our decision to get married at Azul Sensatori in June 2014. This week, we did site visits at A.S., Playacar Palace, The Royal Playa del Carmen and Gran Porto Real. All were very nice especially Playacar Palace but for our families, the Azul Sensatori offered more of what we need and want. We have one more day at Secrets Silversands and then the wedding planning will really start when we get back to Chicago tomorrow. Many thanks to everyone on his thread who helped me to make the decision with all your advice and comments.
  19. I have not had too many complaints directed to me. I gave people plenty of notice and said it is less than $100/month per person, if they start saving now. You should go ahead and have the wedding you want. For the people who can't attend, they can see the pictures.
  20. We usually take about $100 each in singles for tips and then $200-250 in larger bills each. Then, we try and use our credit cards as much as possible to avoid flashing a lot of cash. We plan to go to Playa Del Carmen for shopping next week. I was in Cancun several years ago and have not wanted to return. But, it's probably a lot nicer now. I just remember a bunch of drunken American college students. If you have credit or debit cards, you should not have many problems. But, avoid using the ATM machines at most hotels. They charge an exorbitant exchange rate. Jenny
  21. We plan to get legally married in Chicago before we leave for our 'real' wedding. We have both been divorced and according to what I have read, to be legally married in Mexico, we need to send certified copies of our divorce papers to Mexico to be translated officially at a cost of $10-20/ page. Therefore, we will go to Cook County Court House a week or so before we leave and sign the marriage papers in front of a judge. Our wedding and anniversary date will be when we say our vows to each other in front of family, friends and God in Mexico.
  22. Hi. Alexis, today is April 27th, your wedding day. I am sure you are not wasting time looking at a BDW forum. I hope everything is as amazing and fun as your website. Thank you for sharing. You are a beautiful couple!
  23. I would prefer the wedding terrace. Please post your pictures. Would love to see them!
  24. You might want to check out Water Me Not flowers. I found the link on another forum. They were beautiful and the owner only does custom, made to order bouquets. Thanks for the tips on how to transport the bouquets.
