Hi Lolita2014, Some of my relatives have been very difficult also. I have one cousin who didn't make her final room payment until the day after the deadline and then just a few days ago (5 weeks before the wedding!!!) told me she wants to bring a boyfriend. Of course, it's someone no one else in the family knows or has met!!! It is really too bad about your FI's Mom. If you can afford to pay for her to come, I would definitely offer to pay. It means a lot to have close family attend but sometimes you just have to be happy with the people who have made the effort and who can attend. You showed much more restraint than I did. Last January, I called and/or emailed everyone who had said they wanted to attend but had not put down a deposit and asked that they send in a deposit asap. My problem was that the resort was selling out of rooms for my wedding weekend and if they didn't/couldn't commit, then there would not be any more rooms. I was very careful to say that we truly understand if people have other commitments or if they do not have the funds and that we would love them whether or not they come to Mexico. That pushed a few people into saying No and I was definitely OK with that answer. At 54 people, that a fairly large destination wedding. You are very blessed to have so many people in your life who can be with you on your special day.

Hi Everyone, Yes! I am very excited!! I am putting together my OOT bags and packing up the decorations. I go for my final fitting for my dress next week and trying very hard to lose a few pounds in the next 5 weeks. We still haven't written our vows and I can't get my FI to go with me to pick out his ring. We have 44 guests confirmed and I'm sending out a pre-wedding email next week so they can pick out spa treatments and excursions ahead of time. Most of the wedding details are set with the resort and I am waiting to get the invoice for final payment. All in all, I feel pretty under control.

WOW - not a good way to run a business but oh well. I'm too stressed out about not fitting into my dress to worry too much about people who don't seem to want to take my money. I'm working on my music play list for Mega DJ. I have not corresponded with them directly and had assumed I would send the playlist to the Miami Coordinator so that she could forward to them. Given the slow response time from Miami, does anyone know how to communicate directly with Mega DJ? I want to make sure they have the music for our Introduction, First Dance, Cake Cutting, etc. My FI and I are taking dance lessons so we won't look too dorky during our First Dance! My friends and family are starting to get excited. I am sure we are going to have a blast!

I have less than 6 weeks until we leave for Cancun. Final payment to Karisma is due next Friday but I don't have a final invoice yet. My Miami based planner was very responsive earlier but lately she has been slow to respond. Thank goodness my TA/Destination Wedding Planner is on top of everything. She's helped me a lot to understand options and get things done. I figure Karisma will get around to sending the invoice soon since I am sure they want their money. I'm not going to worry about it However, I am worried about my wedding dress. I bought it over a year ago and have gained about 10-12 pounds that I can't seem to get off. I'm excercising and trying to diet but so far only a couple of pounds off. It's very discouraging. I've started backing up the decorations and making the final things for the OOT bags. I am so grateful for all of the information about Mexican customs and how to carry my wedding dress I've found on the BDW forums. I'm making lists of everything purchased that will not come back with me and putting copies of all receipts in each bag plus keeping the originals in a folder that I'll carry on. I bought the Wally 66 bag from Amazon for carrying on my dress and his suit. It got very good reviews plus I heard from another bride who bought it and tested it out on a business trip. So, yes! I am very excited!!! You should check out Staples.com for the Advil and Tylenol. It's quite a bit cheaper than Amazon. Plus I found the best price for pepto and a couple of other items on minimus.biz.

I downloaded the WeddingDJ app a few months ago and used it to program our ceremony music. But, I just went to the Apple App Store and can't find the one I am using! There are a couple of other apps but they don't seem to work like WeddingDJ. I agree that it is an amazing app - very easy to program and use but it's not there anymore.

I wish I had thought of asking for a discount from the airlines but it's too late now. We bought our tickets a while ago and used Frequent Flyer miles to upgrade to First Class. That way, we each get to check 2 bags for 'free' and take 2 carry ons. FYI - I found a reference on another forum to using a Wally 66 garment bag for carrying on your wedding gown. It got rave reviews on the forum and on Amazon. It should be big enough to carry my dress, his suit plus accessories. It folds up to fit in the overhead and I don't have to worry if the plane has a closet for hanging my dress.

Is it ok NOT to do invitations?
Jennypert replied to AngelaVaradero's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We sent STD emails and a link to our wedding website last May since we had a short window to book rooms at the resort. By the time, we sent the paper formal invitations the resort had almost sold out of rooms so the invitation was more of a keepsake/ announcement. I'm glad I sent the formal invitations by regular mail since I have a few older relatives who don't do email. They did not believe I was getting married until they saw the 'real' invitation! LOL!! -
We set a budget of $15,000 for everything including clothes, transportation, our room at AS, 5 day honeymoon of Secrets Silversands, OOT bags and favors, wedding decorations, reception, cocktail parties, flowers, etc. So far, with almost everything purchased are just a little bit over budget. :-) We also worked with a GIVA planner and got most of the perks listed by CJ1053. (Never heard about the catamaran! That sounds awesome!). We are having the Sky Deck Wedding package which is $1700 extra. We are also doing a private Welcome Cocktail Party with the White Glove Service (about $18/person) a private reception at Plaza Zavas with the BBQ Deluxe menu at $26/ person. I'm also using Caribe Photo Paradise package and MegaDJ. You can see current prices on the Lomas Travel website. Our guest rooms averaged about $800 for for 4 nights. There are various prices for the different types of rooms but most of my guests have traveled a bit and consider the price pretty good for an all-inclusive. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Bottom line. You don't need to spend as much as we have for your wedding or you can spend a lot more. There are many options. We set our budget and then planned accordingly.

This is a great idea. I found Savetheveil.com and another shop on etsy called HandmadeUSA. I just decided to wear a veil but was concerned about the wind. Thus is a perfect solution. Thanks!

I found the Wally 66 on Amazon.com. It got great reviews from several people who used it to transport wedding dresses or ball gowns. From the description and reviews it may hold my dress and my FI's suit. I also like the tip about using duffle bags since I plan to leave some stuff down there. Thanks for the info.

This is disturbing! I didn't realize there would be a separate $250 charge to hang the paper lanterns in Zavas Plaza. With all of these extra set up charges, do you think they are 'punishing' people who decide to not pay the exorbitant prices from Lomas? Note to Talicea7812 - last year, we walked from AS down to the security guard gate and over to the resort next door, Secrets Silversands. It only takes about 10 minutes or so to get to the gate.

You are in luck. Sunset in Cancun on April 7, 2014 is 7:04 pm. Daylight savings time starts there on April 4 and moves the time ahead one hour. You can check for yourself at this website. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=923&month=4&year=2014&obj=sun&afl=-11&day=1 My TA used Caribe Photo for her daughter's wedding last year. She said they did a fine job but she wished she had 2 photographers since they had a large group and the one guy could not be everyplace at once. I am using Caribe photo also because I don't want to pay the vendor fee. I've heard a lot of good comments about other vendors and not so many about Caribe. If pictures are very important and you don't mind the extra expense, you should check some of the other vendor reviews on the site. I'm using the WeddingDJ app on my iPhone for the ceremony and cocktail party. Glad to hear that the sound quality is good on the Sky Terrace.

Hi Vanessav53, Several of my guests are plus size ladies, eg, size 18-22. Do you think the sarongs would work for them? I had thought about and rejected the idea of pashminas also since my wedding is in June. This would be a great substitute and a lot cheaper than the cheapest pashmina. What did you get for the guys? Thanks, Jenny

Welcome Kiara, My wedding is 3 days before your wedding. We decided to pay for private events for the Welcome Cocktail Party (Zocalo Terrace) and reception (Zavas Plaza) because I wanted specific venues. I only qualify for 1 unlimited event and we are using that as the cocktail hour between the wedding and reception. There are several beautiful locations at the resort. Check out the pictures on the Official Azul Sensatori forum. I hope we get to see you while we are there! Jenny

Hmmm- I had not thought about food for the DJ and photographer since they will only be there 4 hours or so. I' ll ask my wedding coordinator for advice. I have 6 tables so ordering 6 of BC-08 in red and white is not exorbitant. This is definitely an option. I am bringing so much stuff already and it will be nice to have real flowers on the tables.
