  1. From the album: Azul Sensatori Wedding June 6, 2014

    Outside of large ballroom
  2. I was married at AS on June 6th on the Sky deck. I ordered 2 bolts of 60 inch by 25 yards of red organza and 1 bolt of ivory from Amazon (sold by BB Crafts) for about $20 each. I gave them to the wedding coordinator, told them how I wanted it set up on the gazebo and they did the rest. If you are getting married on the beach then you probably only need 1 or 2 bolts. My total charge for set up was $250. That included the ceremony set up with flowers, sheers and sand ceremony, table decorations and favors for the reception and setting out my cocktail napkins for the Welcome cocktail party and the after ceremony cocktail party. I ordered 2 hanging corsages for the ceremony, the BC-08 centerpieces for 6 tables and real rose petals for sprinkling on the tables. After the ceremony, they moved the flowers to the table by the entrance with the escort cards which they arranged in a sandbox they provided. I had 40 guests and felt everything was beautiful. We had a wonderful time. The on site coordinators set up weddings everyday and are expert professionals.
  3. @@lolita2014. I asked about a dance floor at the large ballroom and was told it was not available. However, the carpet is low nap and quite smooth. We had no trouble at all dancing on it. We had practiced a foxtrot with a little salsa added. No problems at all. My guests like to dance and after dinner, there was hardly a song played without at least a few dancers. Here are a couple of pictures of the ceremony. I should have a couple of the reception tomorrow.
  4. Hi Everyone, Just got married at Azul Sensatori on Friday. It was Fabulous! The weather was hot, rainy and humid but we had a great time. We had a Welcome Cocktail party on Thursday which was supposed to be on Zocalo Al Fresco but was set up on Zocalo Terrace due to a mis-communication with our Wedding Coordinator, Omar. The on-site wedding coordinators, Omar, Antonio and Victoria are excellent. They work very hard with each bride to make their wedding events special. It started raining during the Welcome Cocktail Party. Since Zocalo Terrace is outside next to the pool, the party was cut short. Since the weather was forecast for more rain on Friday, we asked Omar if we could move from Zavas Plaza to the large ballroom. It was a great decision. Omar and his staff hung up our Xmas lights and paper lanterns from the ceiling and made a beautiful 'starry' night inside, in the air conditioning. @ Lolita2014 - during the June rainy season, the ballroom is definitely the best place for the reception. My 40 guests were able to eat, dance and party for four hours in privacy and comfort. Back to the ceremony. We had it on the Sky Deck and it was spectacular! The clouds cleared up for a few hours just in time us. I only have a couple of pictures to post in the gallery but will post more when we get back from our honeymoon. My guests had a fantastic stay at Azul Sensatori. They raved about the food at all of the restaurant, the service and swimming pools. The music from Mega DJ kept the reception party moving and dancing. The BBQ deluxe was an enormous amount of really good food. There was enough variety of exceptionally good food to satisfy everyone. The wedding cake was delicious! We had 3 layers with the bottom in chocolate, middle section in vanilla rum, top section in carrot cake and covered in butter cream. I thought we would have leftovers but people went back for seconds and thirds. Before I knew it, there was only a small piece left. I will post a full review later but wanted everyone to know we had a great time. I want to give a special thank you to Angeles in the Spa who did my hair and makeup, Marcel from the Spa who trimmed my husband's hair and beard. I also want to thank Erika who acted as my personal assistant on my wedding day.
  5. Yes, I am trying not to worry about the rain but it has been a downer to see 100% chance of rain every day next week. We leave on Tuesday regardless. We sister/ matron of honor called to say, "Don't worry. We can party just as hard inside and still have plenty of fun."
  6. We are having our Welcome Cocktail Party at Zocalo Terrace on Thursday June 5 from 5-7pm. If you are around stop by and introduce yourself.
  7. @@michandwarr It sounds like your wedding was wonderful! Congratulations! I'm leaving for AS in 8 days and can only hope things go as smoothly as they did for you. Thanks so much for posting the review and the pictures. It really helps to ease my mind.
  8. Just got my travel documents and airport transfer vouchers from the TA. Now, I feel like we are leaving soon. . So happy and excited!
  9. Hi Guys, Mexican customs is not really a problem. It's just that the lines are long, plus the process is slow and somewhat arbitrary. After you pass Immigration, you go to the Customs Lane. If you get a green light you go through to the outside. If you get a red light, then they stop and search your bags. Personal items including wedding items are exempt from Customs duties but some things could have another classification. Some items for your OOT bags such as Tylenol or Advil packets could be classified as medications and subject to duty. Best to have your receipts to show the value and then it can be covered under the $300 per person exemption. Note: I have read where the personal exemption was raised to $500 but I still see $300 on some websites. I guess if we are unlucky enough to get a red light, then I'll find out. I am always one to prepare for the worst and then be happy when it's not so bad. Jenny
  10. I did a goggle search for Mexican customs rules and read that wedding items are exempt from duty. However, that won't stop them from opening every suitcase and asking for receipts if they feel like it. The most I've heard of anyone paying was about $200 but it had to be in Mexican pesos - big hassle factor of trying to find an ATM at Cancun airport and paying outrageous exchange rates. Just to be safe, I will get a $100 or so exchanged in Chicago before we leave. If I don't use it at customs, I can use it to tip the resort staff.
  11. I finished packing 4 large bags of wedding stuff and have not started packing clothes! I'm having a couple of friends take 1 bag each so we should only have to check 2 bags each (one with clothes and one with wedding stuff) and then we'll have 2 carry ons each. One will be the Wally 66 garment bag with my dress and his suit. Of course, I am carrying on all jewelry. I was able to find receipts for almost everything since I ordered most of it on line. I made an itemized list for each bag and will have the receipts travel with whoever has the bag. Even if Mexican Customs opens the bags, it should be obvious that it's for a wedding since a lot of it is personalized and can't be re-sold. This week I worked on resort clothes since we are going to be away 10 days. I've got 4 swimsuits and 5 coverups which I plan to be in during most of the day. Plus, I have a few nice dresses for the evenings and several shorts/capris outfits. We're going to Secerts Silversands for 5 days of honeymoon and I know they dress up at night. Now, that I think about it, maybe I'll need another suitcase!
  12. These are all beautiful songs. Isn't it amazing no one is doing Pachebel's Canon in D??? LOL!!!
  13. What songs do you have for your ceremony? I'm walking in on 'Tonight I Celebrate Our Love'. How about you?
  14. I have officially completed my wedding planning. Or rather, that's the email I got from the Karisma wedding planner. We leave for Cancun in about 3 weeks and I have all of the decorations, OOT bags and wedding favors packed. Now, I'm going through my resort clothes to figure out what to take. I'll probably end up packing for my FI also. We started this journey over a year ago and it's hard to believe it's almost over!
  15. @@vanessav53 Congratulations! Now on to the Main Event!!! We are flying down on Tuesday, June 3 for our wedding on Friday, June 6th. I just sent in my music list for the DJ and have finished packing the OOT bag stuff and decorations. It's taking up a lot more space than I thought it would. I asked the Karisma Miami wedding planner if she could schedule the meeting with the on site wedding coordinator. I want to get that done with as soon as we can so I can just relax and enjoy my guests until the wedding. That's the real beauty of a destination wedding. You don't have a lot of last minute running around to make sure everything is ready. The resort should take care of all of those details.
  16. I found a recent article on changes to the rules for what you can bring into Mexico. Here is the link. http://yucalandia.com/answers-to-common-questions/what-can-i-bring-into-mexico-mexican-customs-rules-the-article/ Under the rules issued in Dec. 2013, you can bring in up to $500 per person duty free if entering Mexico by air. The following is copied directly from the article. What can I bring in duty free? ° The items allowed in your personal luggage, according to the length of the trip ° As of Dec. 5, 2013: Up to US$500 per person in permitted goods, or its equivalent in other currencies when flying into Mexico. Passengers arriving by land are allowed only $300 of goods per person. Passengers traveling with family members (spouse and children) may combine their personal exemptions only when arriving together. In order to claim this additional exemption passengers must have the corresponding commercial invoices or receipts available. Which items may be included in my personal luggage exempt from duty when flying? ° Suitcases, trunks, and the necessary bags to carry your belongings. Goods for personal use, such as clothing, footwear and personal toiletries and beauty products, as long as they are appropriate for the duration of the trip, including wedding party items. Baby travel accesories, such as strollers and baby-walkers. Two photographic cameras or video recorders, 12 rolls of film or videocassettes; photographic material; three portable cell phone or other wireless networks; global positioning equipment (GPS); a portable typewriter; an electronic calendar; a portable computer (laptop), notebook, omnibook or similar items; a copier or portable printer; a portable projector, and their accessories. Based on this, I'm going to make sure I have receipts and assume I will be OK. A bigger problem will be paying the extra baggage fees at the USA airport before we leave!! So far, I have 4 large bags of wedding items and haven't started packing clothes and cosmetics. We're flying first class so can check 2 bags each with no charge. But, I expect we'll be checking at least 3 bags each.
  17. My ceremony starts at 5pm with the reception starting at 7pm. Sunset is around 7:30pm so we should plenty of daylight for the pictures. I have the photographer coming at 3:30pm to start taking getting ready pictures plus I wanted some time before the ceremony to have a few shots of the 2 of us. I had my final dress fitting today and hallelujah!! My dress fits even with the plus 7-8 lbs I gained since I bought it. When I said I wanted to lose 6-8 more, the seamstress said not to try because then the dress will be too loose. OK - just the excuse I needed to not work so hard on dieting and exercising!! I got the veil weights on Amazon for about $12 for 6. If you goggle 'veil weights; you can find several shops plus I found a couple on Etsy. Most were in the range of $35-65 but I went with the cheap ones, Yes, we are doing a sand ceremony. I bought the kit and sand on WeddingWire last year.
  18. June is the start of the rainy season so there is more of a chance for rain then in April or May. But, even if it rains, it's rare that it rains all day and it usually clears by late afternoon. Just in case, you should ask the resort about rainy day alternate locations. I am also doing a lot of hoping, praying and finger-crossing. LOL! There's an old wive's tale that says it's lucky to have rain on your wedding day but I would prefer sunshine! Sounds like you are in about the same place that I am. I decided to do a veil and bought veil weights to hold it down if it's windy. I'm exercising 4-5 days a week in an effort to lose 8-10 pounds in the next 4 weeks. Still have a few things left to do but feel more or less under control. We are almost done!
  19. I'm having my wedding on the Sky Deck and like the white gazebo. Here are some recent photos. One was posted by a bride and 2 were sent by my Miami wedding planner. I decided on the Sky Deck because I wanted the ocean backdrop but didn't want to walk on the sand.
