  1. @ monicamb.....did you just post pictures from your wedding??? I can't see them Is there another way you can share them?? Have you written a review yet?
  2. Thx for that tip about asking our photographer. We did book a local photographer....Octavio Montes. He's been great to work with so far via email. I'm hoping we will find local flower markers around. So stressful!

  4. I'm having the same dilemma right now too about décor and flowers. The resort florist it pricey. I'm finding so many good, simple DIY centerpieces. But I'm worried too about traveling with the supplies and having breakage. Plus, I'm wondering if I should look into taking fake flowers to decorate the centerpieces. But then, will fake flowers look ok ????? I found some great simple DIY pieces that only need like 1-2 flowers....and maybe add some petals around the table. I would only need like a few fresh flowers. Wondering if I could just but "loose" flowers there. But what if there's nowhere to get these flowers once I'm there. I'd hate to go there blindly. URRGGG.....WHAT TO DO??
  5. Absolutely beautiful! WOW!! So happy for you guys. You look like such a great family. And thx for sharing your video! The people you hired did a great job! Was this an outside vendor??
  6. Could I ask you what kind of décor you are taking? Also, how are you taking flowers? Real or false? I'm in the process of trying to find simple, easy to travel with, centerpieces. And trying to see f I can find very nice false flowers to take that don't look cheesy. But that is going to be a challenge! I may have to just get flowers over there....but wouldn't know where other than order them through the resort, which is expensive. What to do....
  7. After searching and researching many websites and reviews from different site, we finally chose Octavio Montes! And I'm very excited to have him shoot our wedding this coming Nov. One of the main reasons we chose him was because I kept reading nothing but positive and amazing reviews, his portfolio is great, and his prices are extremely reasonable and affordable. We are getting married in Cancun at the Gran Caribe Real Resort. They provide their own photographer but they didn't have great reviews and were pricey. GCR does charge $350 outside vendor fee, which sucks. But even after booking our package with Octavio and adding the resort's extra fee, it still came out cheaper. So that was a plus. I also like that he provides all his package with or without prints....if you get the "w/o prints" package, it's cheaper. Not many photographers offer that option. I'll definitely provide more info as it comes and provide a review after our wedding!
  8. I'm roughly looking at having about 50-60 guest. How many people can fit in a round table and how many at a square table? I want an idea to see roughly how many tables we'll need and therefore, how many centerpieces I'll need to order. Did you have a separate kids table?
  9. Aww, I can't see your picture =( I'm sure it's lovely tho. Good Luck and have a blast!!!
  10. Hi there! Has anyone use Ismael Pacheco? I contacted him and his packages were very inexpensive! I'm talking $730/6hrs, $1220/8hrs, and $2530/full day (12-14 hours). Those prices are the absolute cheapest I've found. His website looks good and professional. But I am having a hard time finding reviews for this guy, other than the "ravs" on his site, which of course will be positive. I'm thinking, hmmmmm.....why are his prices so much cheaper than others? Is this "a steal that I can't miss out on"? Or a "you get what you pay for" deal??? If anyone has hired/use Ismael P., could you please provide feedback on his communication and work? Were you happy with your photos? Or if you've heard anything about him, could you please share. Thanks!!!

  12. Hi ladies......quick photography questions (again!!). Has anyone use Ismael Pacheco? I contacted him and his packages were very inexpensive! 13. Oh my goodness Emily11386 . I know how much you have been looking forward to your big day and I know how hard you have worked to get everything right. And, you have been so good at providing all us brides here on this thread with all kinds of planning tips (for that we all thank-you!). To hear that you got sick on your trip!!!!!!! I'm so sorry. But keep your head up! YOU'RE MARRIED NOW!!!! YAYYYYYY!!!!!! And I'm sure that your husband is a great man. As hard as you worked at putting together your Cancun wedding and providing info on this page, keep up that great work with your marriage! You paradise will be with you every morning when you wake up! Enjoy being married!
  14. To follow up on TinkerSofi question about "hidden fees" and mizpriya "2 cents", the resort also charges an additional $400 if you get married on a Fri-Sat-Sun after 4pm....can't remember if Thurs was included in that. Again, that's not that huge of a deal. But it can give you a better idea of what day you actually want to get married.
  15. Yup......still no word from Funever Photos. But I have contacted others and BOOM!!! Replies from all. I'm in the "comparing & reviewing reviews about them" stage right now. Still not $100 ruling out the resort photographer just yet....but pretty close. If there's that one bride out there that comes to us saying her pix were the BOMB after choosing the resorts photographer, than I may stick with them. But com'n....at least respond to my email, right!!!!
  16. Thanks for your friend's info. I will definitely look into his website. My wedding is in about 6 months. I'm soooo in "Operation: FIND A PHOTOGRAPHER" right now, lol. I just keep hearing so-so reviews about the resort's photographer. And they're not much cheaper than outside people...even after paying the vendor fee.
  17. Thank-u Emily11386 for your photography input. I'm on a mission now, researching and contacting photographers for rates and package deals. I did contact Ivan Luckie and those rates were pretty good! Those rates plus the outside vendor fee comes out cheaper with certain packages. And even if we choose one of the higher pacakages, it might be the same price or a bit more. But if the work is better, than it will be worth it. I too contact funever for more info and got zero response. Where as Ivan L. got back to me the next day. First impression is everything! GOOD LUCK!!!!! I'm excited for you! Hope you guys have an AMAZING wedding! And hope you come back with some great reviews for us and great pix (want to see how Ivan L's work is ) And Congratulations!
  18. Hey there. I know your wedding was about a year ago! Congrats on your first wedding anniversary! I am in the same position as you were once in. We are getting married this Nov at the Gran Caribe Real. And I am too looking for photographers right now. I wanted to ask you what you thought of your photographer the you ended up hiring? $1,500 is pretty good to have that person shoot all day.
  19. Hey, so I was wondering what you and your fiance were thinking about photographers.....will you guys be going with the resort photgrapher or outside vendor? I got info on pricing for the resort photographer. I attached it to this post (hope you can open it). It's reasonable but who knows what this photographer's work is like ???? I did make a list of different photographers that some of the other brides hired from this thread. I looked them up and sent them messages requesting package/price info. Once I get that info, I'll compare and see how pricing is as well as how I like their work. Hope this all works out. I contacted: Del Sol Samuel Luna Sascha Gluck Ivan Luckie Funever photos (I think this is the photographer that the resort uses) I can keep you posted if you like To the other brides out there.....do you recommend any other photographers that I haven't contacted yet??? 20. Hey Brides! So I was able to get a list of the "resort's photographer" packages and costs (I attached it....hoping you guys can open it and view it). For those brides who hired outside photographers (which are probably most), could you please look over this list that GCR offers and compare it to your photographer's packages? And could you please let me know if it's cheaper or same or more expensive? Or just give me any insights on what you think please? I've yet to see the actual work from this photographer. Hopefully I could get that from my WC, Estela C. Photo packages 2013.pdf
  21. Thank-you for this info. We are staying at the same resort as our guests and we are having the wedding there too. So the only transferring we'll be doing is to and from airport to our 1 resort. I hope that goes smoothly for us and our guest. I think, like I mentioned before, that our biggest fear is not getting that $2k deposit back once the wedding is over. Good thing you did not have that worry. If any other bride out there had no trouble (or lots of trouble) with getting your deposit back, I'd like to know how that went for you. Thxoxoxox!
  22. Hello, I know it's been about a year since anyone has posted anything on this board. I'm too took the bate and booked our resort and wedding through DW.com. I was assigned to Camille. She started off really good....gave us so much information and options that fitted our budget and desires of how we wanted our wedding to be. And she was pretty quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. This was back in Dec of last year. It's now April and 6 months away from our wedding. I've notice that she TAKES FOREVER to respond to any of my emails. Super frustrating! I had 2 guests complain about her lack of quick response as well. But so far, that is the worst. I to wish I would of read this thread before booking with the company. But like I mentioned, the worst is her lagging on emails. It seems though that I get through to her pretty quick over the phone. I kind of wish though that I would have research a bit more on other TA and perhaps the resort itself. I heard some mention that they probably could have contacted the resort themselves and gotten the same kinds of deals, etc. I'm hoping this is the worst that it gets for me. Overall, as of now, I would give Camille a B+. She did mention all the facts before booking.....meaning I knew all about the $200 deposit per room and since we were reserving 20 rooms, that would be $4K. And she informed me that we had 30 days to get as many rooms booked in order to get deductions from our $4K deposit. We were luck to get 10 rooms booked in 30 days. Therefore, we had to pay $2K. According to Camille, we should be getting this deposit back once our wedding is over, which will help with paying wedding bills put on our CC. SOOOOOOOOOOO, my questions to the brides out there that have already had their wedding, did u get your deposit back??? If yes, how long after your wedding did you receive your $$$? My FI and I are soo worried that we're not ganna get it back. But that's just us being scared =/
