We are going to pay for both of our sets of parents to go on a nice all-day excursion one of the days we are in Mexico. It will be a trip to Tulum to see Mayan Ruins in the morning and then the rest of the day at Xel Ha where they can snorkel....etc. Also for our best man and maid of honor, we bought them UE Boom Speakers http://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/ultimate-ears-boom-wireless-blue/#?color=Black -

I've been emailing with Fernanda, but let me know who you end up going with. My wedding is in May and we are also going with the resort photographer (paying the extra $1150 for full day package) -

Woohoo! Have a great time! One thing I'd like to see is all of the stuff to eat/drink in the preferred club lounge. If you can get a few pics, that'd be great. I heard the alcohol in there is higher end and you can basically make your own drinks! -

It seems to be a thing of the past. I asked for two things at different times and was told no. One thing I asked for was swapping the live music for 2 hours of DJ (which several people were able to do in the past) and was told no The other thing I asked was if we could trade out our boutonnieres and corsages for a bridesmaid bouquet and was told that they don't do any swapping. Both things I asked for were things able to do before and in the same categories (music and flowers). From what I was told, they don't have the flexibility to swap stuff like they used to..... so I have no clue what we will do with the stuff. The corsages and boutonnieres, we get quite a few in the Divine package but are only having two ppl stand (a best man and MOH) As for the music, we don't have a need for it. We want the DJ for reception and have already picked songs for the wedding..... I suppose we could have the live music play at the cocktail hour? Or potentially during dinner and then have the DJ for the rest of the reception? I have no clue, I guess we will have to crowbar them in somewhere since we are paying for it either way -

I haven't had mine yet, but I heard it is a good idea to get a bunch of different sizes. They will stagger them at different heights with the different sizes and make it look really nice. I've seen some pictures that look beautiful when done this way. Also we are doing the DJ. It is expensive, but I'd rather not worry about it or have to have any of my guests worry about making the music play. With all the stress and preparation I'm going through planning everything, for me the payoff will be that once we are there, I don't want us to have to do anything besides enjoy our special day. -

We are getting married on May 6th! Originally we were on May 7th at Dreams Cancun, but they are shutting down for renovations a few weeks before then because they're being sold.... soooo long story short we had to find another location and start the planning over again. We chose the Now Jade! -
The official word from Claudia was that they don't know yet. She said new ownership could close it for a while but it isn't for sure yet. We had the option to wait it out or cancel it and rebook everything somewhere else. Given we are less than 6 months out, we chose to move resorts and are going to the Now Jade, which looks great. The process is a pain, but not much else we can do

And I got confirmation from this site, and also when I tried to book a room on the Dreams website and it wouldn't let me for dates after April 20. Did Claudia say she would give you your money back? Did she offer any sister hotels? Just curious if you don't mind sharing. Mine was gonna be the day before, May 7th. Unfortunately we booked the entire travel portion rooms/flights just about a week and a half ago! Makes for a lot more trouble than if we hadn't booked the travel part already.....uggggghhhh

Explains why all of a sudden out of nowhere my guests can't book rooms. My wedding is at the beginning of May 2014 and I'm kind of freaking out as of two days ago. I was able to book rooms for 11 of us so far, but there are still another 20-25 people coming and nobody can book anything right now..... I called the resort tonight and spoke to a very nice young man. He said that he has no information and doesn't know what's going on at all himself right now, but to try back soon and that they should have an answer in a week or two.

So, here's a question I don't think has been asked yet. How did you pay? I think the options I was told are card or certified check only? The problem with certified check is not knowing the exact cost til you get there and pick all the options. The problem with a card is paying like a 3% fee for international use. Not a big deal normally, but 3% of thousands of dollars is a huge hit! Or do they run the card through a system that doesn't ding you with a fee somehow? (Kind of like how the bank you wire the deposit to is in the u.s) Love to hear from anyone who has already done their wedding!

Has anyone been in the gazebo for a visit and noticed the wind? Thoughts? It can get breezy over by the gazebo.... really I don't remember a time where there wasn't a breeze anywhere at the resort, though. It kind of comes with being right on the water, hard to avoid. That being said, I can't wait to go back and get married there!

You can get it directly as well. They give you a discounted rate and also I think every 6th room is free or something of that nature. There's also a free upgrade to one room for every X amount of rooms booked as well..... I had a quote done from their group sales person a while back, but it was too far out for me to know how many people I'd have and whatnot.

Claudia hasn't responded in like a month and a half to an email, so I emailed back again asking why..... then some assistant emailed me letting me know she was out because of an accident.... so just so you all know, she's not ignoring you. Not sure on the circumstances or how long it'll be before she's back, but I hope she's better soon!

Hey Jen! The pics are beautiful, congratulations ! We chose Himitsu Beach for our wedding next year, any insight into it? The best positives, any negatives? We have been to the resort before, but don't remember seeing any weddings at himitsu beach. One small worry I had is the himitsu restaurant and the bar, whether either of them bring the general public too close for comfort at the reception. Thanks!

OOT bags?
thurberwedding replied to shugapop1's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We are also doing one per couple or single person. Not so much to cut down on costs, but more just to minimize the amount of stuff we will be bringing with us! Hopefully we can spread it out amongst a few of our suitcases instead of having to take an extra.
