Approved vendors are those which the resort would allow you to bring/ besides theirs, without charging the outrageous fee. Some resorts would let you bring other vendors as long as you pay the fee, while others will absolutely NOT allow you to bring anyone, some people would just bring their photographer and say nothing to the resort, they would get a room as any other hotel guest. .

I can't imagine a wedding with no dancing IMO, I never been to a wedding with no dancing and even people that don't dance have fun watching the others. -

OMG, I have only thought about what my budget is and in my head is 13-15, seeing this in written is frightening. Can you get a complementary package from your resort if you have certain number of nights booked? Quote:Originally Posted by megssweet1 Ok here's my breakdown so far: Resort where we are having the ceremony 6 nights: ~$3600 Resort where we are honeymooning 6 nights: ~$5200 Ceremony package : $2999 Attire: $2000 Mom's trip: ~$1500 Photographer for 4 hours of Wedding and 2 location TTD + all rights to images: ~$4k Airfare: ~$2k Favors, OOT, Invites, Misc: $2k Spending cash: ~$2k Total: $25,299 S*&%, ladies, I don't see anywhere I can really cut! There are a few things maybe over estimated like airfare and spending cash. But I may have underestimated misc, and possible attire. Also, I don't think my photography package will include any prints, and I haven't factored his wedding band, our gifts to each other, or the cost at the first resort for his son! Good god! I know we can make it work, but I wanted to come out under $20k if only because I said doing a destination wedding would cost less! Also we are not doing an AHR. I think if we would have done a VERY small DW far away, we would have. But we live in Phoenix and are getting married in Cancun. It's a 3 hour flight. So we invited everyone, if they can make it, awesome, if not that is totally fine. (Actually, I hope we come in under 40 total) Which btw, I also didn't factor in. Our ceremony package includes cocktail hour and dinner reception for 20, it's 93.24/pp over 20! -

Moon Palace, I feel she is lying about the vendors, first I asked her about a list of approved vendors (non fee), she responds to me with just the resort vendors, one for photography (in house), one for music services (DJ), and one for decorations, I emailed her again and told her I understood those are their vendors but that I am looking for other vendors they allow people to use, she responded tow more times telling me those are the only ones I can use, then I confronted her with two very well known vendors one for decorations and another one for music services that I am aware they let people use without paying a fee, then she responds, yes, you are correct you can also use those two but make sure you compare prices and what they offer first. She is clearly hiding information and lying.

Hi Zeman, I have one year and exactly 21 days to go. I am sending the save the dates this weekend/next week, I don't have the dress and weird but true, is the last thing I am worrying about, I feel like one year is too much to get a dress, I know myself and I know I would just get tired of it and get 3 more or 5 from here to the wedding. I also don't plan on spending a fortune on it, I will go with a floor sample or a super discounted one so I don't have to worry about waiting time while they get my dress ready. My resort (MP) give me I think 90 days before wedding date to start coordinating but I have already emailed with her a couple times in regards to vendors, etc, so far we don't get alone since I feel she is lying to me.

OMG KK, Just one month? It's scary but you got me thinking about it, I might go this route. As I say before, people that are going to go would t mind to reply right away. I had a Friend get married in DominicanRepublic, and I remember her posting on FB about 2 weeks before the wedding telling people to please send their RSVP's. thankfully for her, she didn't get mArried at at resort but offsite, that is so scary, two weeks and still missing RSVP's. she gave people to RSVP until a month before the wedding so that could have been the issue.

I am sending STD this and next week and I think the invitations are going out in 2-3 months, latest December and I want RSVP 5-6 months for my August 2014 wedding.

When I said go with extra 10-15 I really didn't think about the OOT bags, forget about that!

Hi Sehausle, Yeah, I saw the insurance paper work and I almost fainted. Do you own a house? if so, are you adding your ring to the house insurance? I heard this is something that you do to protect the ring in case of a fire, theft, etc? -
Why don't you go with the number you have and add 15 extra ppl just in case, even though at this point, and being that your wedding is around the holidays, you might not even get that many more. 60-70 guest is not a bad number. If you gave an RSVP date before August 10th and people have not RSVP'ed just count them out.

Love your post and sorry about your AHR. My thinking about AHR's is... if you cant sacrifice your yearly or one of your two times a year vacation to attend my wedding THEN, I have no interest to celebrate with you. We will sure have fun with whomever can make it. I am not having two expenses so others can come, eat and drink at my expense. -
I wouldn't send them before her wedding, is going to be very overwhelming for family members and relatives, wait for hers, let them have fun and then when they get yours they will realize how fun it will be to do it all over again.

OMG, I hear you, I imagine how though is to receive the no's... I am sending out 50 STD, not more, I assume I will get 15 yes, I HOPE, and it would be about 40-50 people for our wedding, I don't think i can handle 100 guest at a destination wedding, my eng. party was 96 and I was going nuts, there is people I don't even recall seeing, and they were there, I knew after seen the pictures. I got the feeling as how a wedding feels since I and my FH were being pulled form all angles to say hi, I am happy we danced some through the night, I forced him to come in the dance floor and then someone will come and get him or me and someone will have to step on the dance floor so I am not dancing alone. CRAZY. And I get your point, people might feel bad about saying no and then just misplace the invitations since they were not planning on going to start with, I am so trying to avoid this, I am not going to chase anyone for RSVP's, whomever forgets, it did. And I am actually debating some about sending out all 50 STD, I feel there is people that cant afford it (they are older and/or have very low paying jobs) so I feel guilty and heartless inviting them.

I really thought about having the RSVP by March, I am an August 2014 bride, and I really want to know how many OOT bags I need to make, I am not in a situation to be making more just in case, I figure if people are going to go, they will know when they receive their STD's, is not like they will sit and think, oh, can I go? do I have something else so do in a year? My STD are going out this weekend. I send RSVP's back the minute they come in my mailbox, so I don't know why people wouldn't do the same, come on, you know if you are going to attend or not, being lazy/rude and postponing a reply "just because" is something else. I do foresee that inconveniences happen and I could get a couple of cancellations but I really need to know how many people are coming before I start making myself crazy with tons of DIY that I will never use. Lets say, booking a DJ, is something I will only do if I have enough people so just and ipod will not suffice, so yes, I need to book the DJ at least 6 months in advance, how do I do this if I don't know how many people are coming? The reason STD's for a wedding go out at least a year in advance is so people can plan accordingly and decide if they are going to be able to afford it and/or want to attend. So if I go through all the work of being ready, sending things ahead of time, holding rooms down with my own money, why can they reply 5/6 months in advance? A vacation is not something that you decide the day before you go. If people are going to wait 2 days before the RSVP date to do it, then let that be 5 months in advance so I can plan.

I have seen that people count their engagement ring on the wedding cost, I wouldn't since the ring came before planning the wedding, it came from my FH saving his sweet money, and I don't even know the cost of it, I know my fiance mentioned that if we were to include the cost our budget would be out of control right now. We are not having an AHR since we already had a very big engagement party and invited every family member and friend, we also invited the same people to the wedding soo whomever cant make the wedding, we already celebrated with. I think in general your budget has to work for you based on your income, savings, lifestyle, etc. I initially thought mine was going to be much cheaper but I want a private reception with a DJ, Videographer, Photographer, etc and that added up quickly. We're spending around $26K for our wedding and honeymoon, but our wedding is also closer to 60 people. Other people when they say their budget too are just talking about the wedding itself. When I think of my budget I think of EVERYTHING (my dress, the rings, his attire, our flight and stay, reception, DJ, etc). We're paying for it ourselves and are by no means wealthy but I'm 31 and he's 36, I want the wedding I've always dreamed of and this works for us. Some people think we're crazy to spend so much while other people think it's a bargain because I have friends who's weddings topped $100K. I've never been to a "bad" wedding no matter how much was spent, in the end it doesn't matter your budget just that you do what works for you and makes you happy. That being said I don't believe people should spend beyond their means but that's different to everyone. -

Hi Travellvr, you can have a 5k wedding, as long as you forget the photography, go with the complementary package and don't have more than 20-25 guest, stay away from flowers and anything decor, just go with the free the hotel offers with the package, don't have any private events and you will be fine. We also thought our wedding was going to be around 5k, until we decided to have an engagement party which spiraled out of control to almost 10K (100 guest), then reality set in and we realized the wedding was not going to be 5k, right now I am looking at 13-15K (the photography alone is $3700), so yes, reality is a B. I BTW am an Executive Assistant and I wouldn't say I make a fortune (EA's don't) but I make enough that I could save 10k in a year, is all about making sacrifices and know where to cut living cost so you can save for your big/dreamy day. The worst part is that some family members are accusing us of being selfish and putting the cost of our wedding on our guest shoulder, they really think we are getting a FREE wedding. Our families all have very good paying jobs and vacation few times a year so I don't know what the big deal is. -
I am not going to say that you will not be allowed to do the Tiki torch idea but I asked the wedding coordinator during my visit as I witnessed a wedding, and she said there is nothing they can do or rope off the area, even ask anyone to move because it is a public beach. That was the main reason I switched from PP to Moon Palace. It is a shame, I loved the beach and PP is so in the right location...
