I am more nervous about not being able to have the reception up on the Skyterrace if there happens to be a few weddings that day. The entire reason I picked the hotel was to have the reception up on that beautiful rooftop so I would be devasated if that day there was multiple weddings and someone got it over me. Ideally I want to have the cocktail hour on one side of the the terrace and then move over to have dinner and dancing on the other so I am being selfish wanting it all to myself. haha. We booked the 4:00 time. I definitely agree about having it a bit early so the whole wedding isnt over so fast. I have been to the Cancun area numerous times and the sun disapears behind the hotels long before the sun is even close to setting so I really wanted to make sure I got some beach photos with the sun on the water making it that beautiful turquise color. Once the sun goes away the water looks dark and not as spectacular. The sun sets around 7:00 in May so I think 4:00 will be enough time to get the ceremony done and pop down for beach photos. As for room prices I am not sure what it works out too per night because our package price was all included together (rooms/flghts combined). Our travel agent has booked our wedding group with Sunwing Vacations here in Canada and I have paid a $400 deposit (for bride and groom) to lock in the price for up to 30 guests. The guests have 60 days to pay their own $200 deposit which confirms their booking. After that they have until 90 days prior to departure to pay the remainder. My fiance and I are not paying anything for our guests as it is just not something we are able to do financially on top of paying for a wedding. Atleast they have nearly an entire year to save up and pay the remainder of the trip which makes things a bit easier I would think. Our Sunwing quote priced out the packages starting at $1598.00 (canadian) + $190 tax which included a double occupancy resort view room for 7 nights, all inclusive food/drink package, round trip flights calgary to cancun, in country transportation to/from airport. The ocean view rooms are about 1778+tax i think. The flight schedules are not out yet so there is a bit of risk that the Sunwing flights might not be too great, but Sunwing has their own airplanes and I am pretty sure all flights are non-stop, so I think we will be okay.

Hi Ladies! I am offically going to be a 2014 destination wedding bride! We chose Beach Palace Cancun and set the date for May 10, 2014. (Travel dates May 7-14). Most of our group will be departing frmo Calgary but the ones in the USA are booking their travel seperately. Last week we paid our group deposit to Sunwing (Managed to snag the no-fuel-surcharge deal which was great), sent out e-Save the Dates last week, and put a deposit down at the hotel for the wedding date. We are planning to get married on the rooftop skyterrace and then have the reception on the rooftop poolside terrace area with tiki torches and dancing under the stars Things are really coming along! One thing I have to say is I cannot stand my travel agent. She has a way of making me feel like I am bothering her with questions and that her way is the only way that works. I asked her to let me know when my guests make deposits and she said "I think that I am too busy to do that for every guest". Really? How freakin hard is it to send a simple email with the guest names...I am not asking for a hard copy hand written report lol. Anyways not only that, she seemed so great when I first spoke with her and I had called their office and she took on my booking with such enthusiasm....but she was going on vacation for a week and I asked her if there was someone else in the office who could handle my file while she wasy away. Well she told me she would be getting the quote by email and she is never far from her laptop so i will hear from her within a day or two, I even gave her my credit card to make the deposit when the quote came in....well nearly a week later and I still had not heard anything. The sunwing no-fuel-surcharge was going to expire the day she got back and I was convinced i had missed it. Monday morning comes around and I FINALLY hear back from her and she has the SAME quote that I already had the week before (I had initially spoke with Sunwing on my own to get a quote but decided to work with an agent). So I tell her to quickly book my group and get it freakin locked down. She jsut brushed it off saying she was busy and that she was on vacation....Well lady, I asked to be switched to someone else in the office since I was in a rush to get things booked! (LOL soory for the rant, i havent had a chance to get that off my chest to anyone yet!! haha). All that aside, atleast things are booked and moving along. Our quote for 7 days from calgary, all inclusive with roundtrip airport transfers comes to about $1598 + 190 tax for a basic resort view room. Ocean view was about $1700+190 I think. Our guests contact the travel agent and are able to upgrade their room levels if they want. Beach Palace is a little pricier then some of the other places but the reviews are very good and the food quality sounds amazing. I have been to all inclusives before when the food is bad and it is just terrible. I hope the resort turns out to be as good as I hope Happy Planning! I cant wait to hear about everyone elses plans Xx.

We decided on the complimentary package and will just be adding some extras like a DJ and decor and stuff for the reception. I really hope the communication is not too terrible. I am working with a travel agent in my city and she says she has worked with BP many times before and has had no problems so i am keeping my fingers crossed. As for the rooftop, I am pretty nervous about not being able to have the skyterrace if someone else books the same day but I hope it works out in the end. Just going to think positive and try not to think about the alternative lol. What time did you book your ceremony for? It is pretty great that our weddings are so close! Will be interesting to compair notes on different aspects of the planning!

Hi TinkerSofi! I am getting married at Beach Palace on May 10, 2014! The cost is $1598 + $350 tax for double occupancy (Snagged a no fuel surcharge deal though, so taxes only ended up being $190). We booked with Sunwing for a group of 30+ all departing from Calgary. Beach Palace does seem to be a bit pricey compaired to some but I think it will be worth it in the end. Reviews of the weddings there have been fantastic. I cant wait!!

Hi ladies! I am officially getting married at Beach Palace on May 10, 2014! (We will be there May 7-14, 2014) Just made the room block with my travel agent and we are expecting about 30-40 people. Planning to book the skyterrace for ceremony and the Sorth/north (not sure what its called) pool terrace area for the reception. I currently have the 4:00pm ceremony time reserved as per my travel agents suggestion but I am kinda of doubting this after reading about people dripping sweat at 3:00 or the sun setting at 7:00... I really want some photos on the beach while there is daylight so I am a bit torn. I really dont want to be sweating up a storm though! Has anyone had a 4:00pm (April-July) ceremony yet? How was it? Thanks!!
