Alterations in Toronto/GTA?
m8chow replied to amygirl1169's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hi Marti, I definitely did. She was great, but I haven't gotten my dress back yet to see how her workmanship is. While I was there there were a bunch of other people who came in for their items which ranged from other dresses to wool jackets that had to get their linings replaced. Cherie herself is quite nice though. Kind of reminds me of that aunt who always has a funny story to tell. -
Thank you!

Have any of you negotiated upgrades or perks because your party was so large? HELPPPPPPP!!!! Lol Wow 100 people is huge!!! We only have 40 so we're on the average size and didn't have any particular perks. The only real deal we got was through our Travel Agent. I'm sure you could speak to your wedding coordinator and work something out though.

I'll do that now. Where did you choose to have your wedding ceremony? We have the Pier Gazebo booked now which apparently is called Gazebo Zocalo or something like that.

We booked the DJ but not the MC as well. Since the rental comes with a MIC, we figured we could just get a friend to do a few key intros or even do it ourselves. We have 40 guests confirmed and paid for. Is anyone out there doing a beach reception? Is the only spot on the beach for a dinner reception the yoga spot?

I've read a few posts about brides taking some extra old luggage they don't want anymore down and leaving it there. Another bride on a thread said she just brought big bins. I guess it depends on how much décor you're bringing. We'll be bringing ours but it'll only cost $20 per extra checked bag so we should be in good shape. We're flying with most of our wedding guests so we'll be handing out most of our OOTs to guests at the airport to put into their own luggage before they check their bags. We'll be bringing our real touch flowers. I like the idea of keeping my bouquet and guests being able to keep the pomanders. We'll sell any of the leftover floral centerpieces as long as they're in good condition when we come back.

We should probably get our excursions taken care of, we want to go to Havana and also take out a catamaran for an evening. Need to get the FH on that stat! That's his job. What excursions are you doing? We're going to do a catamaran for our guests as well. That's the only one that we'll fit the bill for for the guests. The other ones we'll plan later since we're not sure where we want to go yet. I made it FI's job but I ended up messaging so much on this forum that there were some great people to help with suggestions. Maybe you'll find some great catamaran operators in Cuba as well based on other bride suggestions. I'll be bringing most of our décor but am hoping to give our guests a little gift from Mexico as our wedding favors. I'll message MrsHK to see if I can enlist her expertise though, she's been such a great help. -

Hiya we have our venue, all payments, excursions for group, and our clothing. I justwent for my dorst fitting this weekend and need to find a sash. Other than that I need to work on Oots, he's got the music list to work on. I'm soo tempted to make a welcome brochure but FI pointed out we could buy everyone sodoku books and etc for the cost of the brochure paper. Lol so welcome cards it is and an itinerary for the week and big day. Its coming up real quick... excited? -

Despite the weather, all of the guests who are there a week early have really enjoyed the resort so far! I can't wait to see your review. We did a bridal walk through back in April and loved the resort. We're hoping to have everything on the beach, so maybe you could tell us how the weather is there at night please? In April we caught some bad weather and it was very windy and cool at night.

She's got a great personality at least. I can attest to that. -

I'm still undecided on where to host the reception, but I'm sure when/if the rebuild the gazebo it'll be beautiful as well. Hope someone is there once it's rebuilt to show us a picture as well

So far her Yelp reviews are awesome. If this doesn't pan out, I'll give Club 10 a try as well. thank you -
New Trend: Bridesmaids in Skirts
m8chow replied to lmadore's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I really like this idea. It's easy to mix and match colours and being a bigger girl on the bottom and a smaller on top... it would be sooo much easier to find something that fits perfectly without alterations. Plus it's rewearable. Great trend, I wish I thought of it before I ordered my bridesmaid dresses. -

We had a lunch (they have 3 different choices), all inclusive drinks and they let us play our own music. We stopped to snorkel and swim for a bit which was fun. If you have more than 40 people this is a great option. Here's their email: [email protected] and their Tripadvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g153510-d1901945-Reviews-Catamaya_Sailing_Cruises-Puerto_Aventuras_Yucatan_Peninsula.html This is the package we chose, quoted directly from the email I got from the company: SUNSET Charter with Hamburgers Hours From 3:00pm to 7:00pm Service Sailing and snorkelling. Lunch An hamburger grilled aboard along salad, dressing, mexican salsa, tortilla chips and assorted nuts. Drinks FULL OPEN BAR: Beer, rum, vodka and tequila, Sodas: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Juices: Orange, Pineapple and Purified water Cost US$ 3,510.00 All the options above include: Sailing and snorkelling, these activities depend on the weather conditions. We provide the complete snorkel gear. Crew service. Two fishing lines. Music and great fun! Very Important notes: Tips not included, kindly suggest US 4.00 per person. If you need us to provide the round trip transportation, please consider US10.00 per person. A 30% deposit is required order to book the date and the balance will have to be paid two weeks before the event. Another company to consider is Fat Cat if you have a slightly smaller group. They have two vessels that each accommodate 40 people. Arlene there was great to deal with and the only reason we didn't chose them was the size of our group: www.fatcatsail.com/‎ & http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g153510-d1185301-Reviews-FatCat_Ocean_Adventures-Puerto_Aventuras_Yucatan_Peninsula.html Paradise Catamarans gets great reviews too, but they were booked when I contacted them two months in advance, so I didn't get any price quotes at all. Their max capacity is 50 people: http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g153510-d815084-Reviews-Paradise_Catamarans-Puerto_Aventuras_Yucatan_Peninsula.html [email protected] www.paradisecatamarans.com I believe all of these companies sail from Puerto Aventuras, which is 15 mins south of Playa Del Carmen. The catamaran companies will all be able to provide shuttles for your group and the price depends on where you are coming from. Let me know if you have any other questions, although if you contact these three companies I'm sure you will find all the information you need though them. Happy sailing! Again MrsHK, thank you so much!!! We are never sure who is a reliable vendor and it's so great to have you down in that area providing tips and feedback.

What's with all this planning?" lol Our wedding is in 3 months and we're just starting to get off our butts now. So guess what, now we're forced to lie and say the symbolic ceremony is the legal one. So there. There is a whole thread on this- families fighting, parents crying- it's insane. I think i read somewhere also that hotels will help you pretend it's a legal ceremony- down to the bandaids to put on your arm! What?! Down to the bandaids on your arm? That's amazing!!! We're going to do the legal wedding in Mexico (although I don't like the idea of the blood test or another country having my blood by any means cuz I watch too much CSI and Criminal Minds). I know how you feel about families making a stink though. My MIL keeps trying to pressure/guilt FI into having a big Hindu ceremony when we come back because a lot of his family doesn't want to come out to Mexico. We declined because it's not our belief and it would have very little meaning for us. Couldn't your sister-in-law just come to the paper signing in CA if that's what you guys wanted? What's the biggie, it's really your decision as a couple. Just my two cents (which in Canada is rounded down to nothing now since our pennies are almost worthless).
