  1. Dagh, I was supposed to go for a swim at lunch today with a coworker, but she has too much work to do (she's my ride to the pool!). So no swimming for us today. Silly work always getting in the way. I've been having some pain in my feet, but I might try and go for a run after work instead. Been having a roller-coaster of emotions lately. I'm still upset my FI's sister isn't coming and I'm having a really hard time getting over it without being a total meanie-pants (i.e. having a "fine - if she isn't coming, I don't want her there anyways" attitude. We're not close and I've only met her once, but I definitely don't want this to carry over for the rest of our lives/interactions with each other). Anyone else having these feelings? It totally sucks and makes planning way more stressful than it needs to be. I'm trying my best to focus on the guests that ARE coming, and thinking about it from that perspective helps make me feel a bit less stressed. And I still haven't made it to Weight Watchers for my May weigh-in... If I'm not under my goal weight by the end of the month I just need to pay the fee and try again for June. *sigh*
  2. That's great to hear your agent recommended it so highly! The TA we're using actually got married at NJ herself, so we thought that spoke volumes. She didn't try and sway us in any way though, we told her what we wanted and she recommended about 3 different resorts to get quotes from. We have not been to NJ and are not planning on doing a site visit, but there are brides on here who are. We'd love to, but we just moved across the country and started new jobs, and just don't have the banked vacation time (or $$) for a visit.
  3. I think there's actually 8 buildings, 4 non-preferred and 4 preferred. It might be possible to request for your guests to not be placed in those buildings where there's been reports of a smell? I plan on doing this once we have our final guest #'s. The NJ facebook page gives an email address for the concierge that you can contact with such requests.
  4. Hi there. From what I've heard if there's any smell it seems to be around the backside of buildings 1 and 2, if it's there at all. I haven't heard anything of it being anywhere near any of the ceremony, cocktail or reception locations. I'm not that worried about it, to be honest.
  5. We're just under 7 months out and I'm starting to think about them, but not purchase quite yet. I want to make sure we have a good idea of our #'s, so I don't end up underbuying and then having mix & match stuff, or over buying and having a ton of leftovers and wasted $$.
  6. Thank you!!! What a stunning view you had from your room!
  7. I'm so impressed with how thorough you've been! Amazing work! Can't wait to hear how it goes! I absolutely love the idea of a "pack this" list that you sent to guests, and will definitely be checking out those weatherproof avery labels! Thank you!
  8. Have an amazing time!! Can't wait to hear how it goes tomorrow!
  9. So apart from getting in wedding and engagement photo shape, my next big task is to pick wedding colours. My future MIL keeps asking me what colours we've picked because she wants to coordinate her outfit (I've told her this isn't necessary and she should wear a colour that flatters her, but she insists). I've narrowed it down, and just ordered a dozen paper lanterns from Just Artifacts as samples to play around with and see how the combos look together! I'm actually more excited than I thought I would be for them to arrive http://www.justartifacts.net/10blpala.html Told my coworker I'm going to hang the colour-reject lanterns in my office cubicle!
  10. I fell off the wagon yesterday too. I had (A LOT of) treats during the day at work, and then after working 8-6 PM FI suggested we try a chinese place we've seen that's always busy on Calgary Trail. So we did, and ordered the dinner for 2 which ended up being ridicliously HUGE. He's away now for the next 3 days, and I told him I wasn't going to touch the leftovers at all. I felt awful yesterday. I ran to work this morning (about 3.5kms), but that probably won't counter all the wine I'm going to drink this weekend while I'm by myself. Ugh! I was going to go for my WW weigh-in at lunch today, but after yesterday there's no way I'm going today. I'll bump the weigh-in to next week and hope I can do better.
  11. Has anyone had any problems bringing the lanterns (plus fuel cells) into Mexico? I haven't seen what the fuel cells look like or if they're considered a "dangerous good"?
  12. Oh awesome, I didn't even look at their other categories. I will check them out. Shipping to Canada is atrocious, but fortunately I have a brother in the US I can have things sent to!
  13. Okay, now I'm at work and am totally distracted thinking about welcome bags. Does anyone know a good cheap source to get plain cloth bags? It might be the latte I'm drinking, but I'm getting pretty giddy thinking about fun travel mugs and "to have and to hold and to keep your drink cold" labels to go on them! I was thinking about just using a nice brown paper bag with a handle, but if we used cloth people could also use them as a beach bag? Guess it will depend on the pricing for the reusable ones. Anyone have any suggestions?
  14. Aww, I know you're probably really excited to get them, but I'm sure the sender would re-send them for you if they're lost. That's totally not your fault
  15. Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you had such a dramatic experience with a crazy lady, but it's great you found two dresses! I've never heard of Ethos before, are they in the WEM? What are you going to do with the David's bridal dress now? My best experience was with Ashley at Bridal House. She was so helpful, knowledgeable and kind. She helped me find the dress that I love, and I feel a bit badly for buying the exact dress pre-worn, rather than buying through her. But I saved $1000 on the cost of the dress alone, plus I'll save a bundle not doing my alterations through them as well. Their quote for alterations (simple things - like hem, and having it taken in slightly) was like $600.
  16. For lifetime you need to go once a month, so if you last went in April, you need to go once in May. If you don't go once a month, you have to pay the fee the next time you go regardless if you are within your goal weight or not. Our weddings are close to each other. You definitely have time to get to your 150 goal! The summer and the nice weather will help a lot, it's easier to eat fresh local produce and get out and exercise! I was in a staff meeting this morning and there were boxes of cookies from a bakery someone brought in. I totally resisted. I know how the cookies taste already, and I'd rather feel amazing in my dress for the entire wedding day, than feel amazing for the 10 seconds while I devoured a cookie (and then feel badly after). You're right - let's do this!
  17. I totally feel your pain and am stuck on the last 5-7 lbs. I'm also a lifetime WW member, and I haven't gone in for my May weigh-in yet (although there's still lots of time..). I usually go for a lunchtime meeting, so to be under my goal I know I need to be a certain weight on my scale at home in the morning and I'm just not there right now. So frustrating. I was planning on going this Friday, but now want to bump it another week (why not, if you can avoid having to pay, right?!). I'm really good following the plan M-R, but then Friday, Saturday and sometimes Sunday feel like I'm always over, usually from beer or wine. Hmmmf.
  18. Oh Michelle, I am so sorry to hear about these recent cancellations. Dealing with bookings/RSVPs is so stressful, especially when it's people who are so important to you. Unfortunately I have no idea what Vacations for Less may be able to do to help you in this situation. I think I've realized that no matter when we decided to have our wedding, there will always be someone important who can't come. It sounds like your sister, Aunt, and FI's cousin's wife may not be able to travel for quite some time, and it's difficult for your Mom regardless of when the time is. Are you considering postponing it for awhile? What's most important is that you and your fiance will be there. I hope you can figure something out, so you'll be excited for YOUR big day! I've cried (and been quite angry) so many times over the past two months over people I love who cannot come to our wedding (including my FI's pregnant sister), but I've started really trying to focus on the amazing group of people that ARE coming.
  19. Thanks Susannah, hearing that helps reassure me so much. Congratulations, enjoy your vacation!
  20. Thanks Kristen! Your wedding day is so close, you must be excited! Can't wait to hear how it goes! I am glad they took the time to write a reply, and do hope they address the concerns from the reviews. Please keep an eye out on the glasses at the bar situation and report back if you can?
  21. Thanks for those words, it really does help to hear. I've actually for the most part been ignoring Trip Advisor since we booked, but hearing that one bride mention in her review the glass issue made me concerned. I'm really glad you had a good experience and a memorable time there! That's too bad not all restaurants were open each night - definitely a capacity thing, and thanks for the heads up! We went to the Gran Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an in September and found the same thing, they had two amazing restaurants, but they alternated the nights they were open. And of course the night we had a reservation at the really good Japanese place I had to send my fiance by himself - I was too busy kissing porcelain after a few too many mojitos in the pool. Oops! I did finally get a response last night. I think I definitely will tell them in advance that we're not interested, nor our our guests in the sales presentation. Dear Kimberly, thank you very much for contacting us. We have shared your comments with the wedding department and operations staff. We had 3 reports in our medical services. We have contacted the clients who wrote the reviews on Tripdavisor to know more because there are not more reports. The Uvc staff invites the clients to the presentation, however it is not mandatory and guests can denied to go to the presentation. If you do not want to be invited we will tell them in advance. Our staff is very well known for the friendly service provided, however the commentes were shared with the Director of área to improve and make corrections in the service. We asssure we will do our best to make your stay comfortable. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any doubts. Best regards, Olivia Rodríguez - Social media coordinator.
