  1. I think Pilar has been pretty quick to reply via. email lately, so I am sure you'll hear back soon! Once it's confirmed she will send you a confirmation email and number, so you know you're good! Fingers crossed for you! What locations did you choose?
  2. Finally back home from the trip. The weather was pretty good, and the scenery was beautiful. But I still hopped on the scale when I got home and was not pleased with what I've been seeing. I haven't gone to Weight Watchers for my June weigh-in, and tomorrow is the last possible day I can go. I'm certain I've gained a few pounds, so that's disappointing. I'm ready to seriously crack down. How have you all been doing?
  3. Last night at home and another 4 days out of town for work. With three work trips and my FI away for a week and a half we've barely seen each other in June at all. We're renting in Edmonton right now (we just moved here in October) and our landlords put our place for sale on Saturday. This morning when I was home alone someone unlocked the door and came in (without knocking and totally unannounced - FYI - it's the law to give 24 hrs notice) and scared the crap outta me. Waiting for a formal written apology from our realtor right now. I'm super stressed about this all. We were hoping to continue renting here until March 2014, when we could then leave the city and move elsewhere, them trying to sell the condo throws a loop in those plans.
  4. Do you mean like sky lanterns or tiki torches? I had asked about sky lanterns, and no, they are not allowed.
  5. Thanks - seeing how it's our only option at the moment unless we want to pay more for the garden I'm sure we'll make it work!
  6. So I do appreciate that Pilar has all of the sudden started answering her emails so much more quickly, but I wrote asking what other locations were available other than castaways on our wedding date. She wrote back saying that Castaways was the perfect place for the number of people we had. That was all she said. Then a few minutes later I got a second email saying we could do a garden location, but that it would cost $350 plus 11% tax (mandatory) for lighting. I guess we'll just stay in Castaways for now, despite my fears of the heat and the layout. I thought I had seen a photo someone posted of a Castaways floor plan, but of course now I can't find it saved anywhere on my hard drive.
  7. Thanks Shannon, I contacted Pilar (and actually heard back quite quickly!), but the Bamboo Room is booked up on our day by another event. Are there any other facilities you would recommend? Would the Oceanfront Terrace have been suitable for your group?
  8. Hmm, I was told that the sound system is included for the ceremony. Please let us know what you find out!
  9. Approximately how much does a real touch bridal bouquet end up costing?
  10. Wow! You've done amazing to lose 20lbs so far! There's always going to be bumps in the road, but you've still got a few months before your brothers wedding to get back on track! 15lbs in 3 months will take dedication, but it's still do-able at a healthy rate of about 2lbs/week! Check out the thread "Operation Wedding Dress" - it's a bit more lively than this one at the moment.
  11. Yeah! We were exactly six months yesterday from our wedding day - and even less until we fly down there! There's still so many things I feel I need to do! I was down 9.1lbs from March-April-May, but I've been away for work for the past few weeks and I have a feeling my June weigh-in will show a bit of a gain
  12. We're booked for Castaways in December and I have the same concerns! I saw that they rent fans for Castaways, wonder if it's needed in the fall/winter months? Other than that, how was the space? I'm worried it will be too big of a venue for the group we have (approx. 35 kids/adults).
  13. This is a great piece of advice and definitely something I need to take to heart!
  14. Just saw this "Save the date" special on the NJ website. Not sure how long it's been there for, but it definitely wasn't there when I booked in March. If anyone's going to be booking before the end of July, this would be a nice added extra! http://www.amresorts.com/romance/index.html
  15. This makes me feel sick just reading this! Regardless, I hope your wedding week was amazing. I'll make a note to bring that extra immodium...
  16. Whew! So glad you received it! I know it must be difficult, but try not to stress too much - from the sounds of it everything will be well-looked after once you arrive! Enjoy the anticipation and excitement of the next two weeks!
  17. Hi Shannon, I don't know for sure, but from every review I've read it sounds like the bride and groom have been bumped to preferred. I've just been assuming this would happen for us (as we just booked the standard room as well), and would be quite surprised if it didn't happen.
  18. I believe so. I follow them on facebook and I think they had a special cinco de mayo album they posted this year. Check it out!
  19. Hi Tonia, I just moved away from Ottawa, and miss it so much! I've finished 3 ironman triathlons and I've found no matter how much exercise/training I'm doing it doesn't matter. For me it's all about what I put in my body that makes all the difference. I became a lifetime member at Weight Watchers back in 2007, and after a few years of not going I've started up again and it's helped me drop 9lbs in the last 3 months. Not a huge loss, but every bit helps. Personally, it's the junk food and booze that puts me over the top and seems to add belly fat. From what I've experienced, if you follow their plan, it works. You can even download free (or pretty cheap) apps that do the same thing. I've used iTrackBites and found it worked well. It calculates "bites" instead of points because I think that's trademarked, but it does it the same way (based on protein, carbs, fat, fibre). I personally enjoy the accountability that in-person weigh-in provides, but I know a few people who have had success with apps and their online program as well.
  20. So I finally bit the bullet and went to my May WW weigh-in. I probably would have put it off until the very last day of the month, but we have to leave town to attend a funeral in BC so I had to go today. I picked my absolutely lightest clothes possible this morning and was careful to not chug too much water before going in for the weigh-in. The result: I'm down a few lbs from the beginning of April and I was under my WW goal (so I didn't have to pay). Yahoo! I still have about 6 more lbs I'd like to lose before our wedding day, so even though progress is slow for these last few pounds thankfully I'm still on the right track! I may or may not be having a little treat now though. Whoops.
