My fh and I had or tasting at Jellyfish on September 14th during our site visit at Iberostar that weekend. Mayte, as you all may know, was not there but her assistant Raluca was there to go over everything with my fh and I. Raluca was great...she was very nice and very professional. She took us on the tour and went over everything with us. This was the BEST tasting ever! We were able to pick out the potential drinks and menu for our cocktail hour and reception dinner. They made everything, and let me just say the food was wonderful! There was one pasta dish my fh and I weren't too excited about considering our families tastebuds and we were able to change it and then that new dish was made for us. The level of service and the quality of the food was definitely great. The service, view of the beach, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was definitely way better than what we would have had at the resort so we are VERY happy and looking forward to the wedding day. I'm happy my fh was finally able to actually see the vision we talked about because he is now VERY excited and actually told me "Babe, you did real good" once we were there! SUCCESS!! We have sent out the save the dates, (i'm going to post them in another thread soon) and the invitations will go out very soon. We have quite a few family members and friends that are saying they are coming, but we'll see once the dust clears! We could have anywhere between 35 to just short of 100 people. I'm still working on the photographer, but our videographer is all set! We can't wait to have our Jellyfish wedding next May! My wedding is May 21! We will be staying at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe. We met with Mayte in June and can say that Jellyfish is way better in person than it is in person Happy Planning

I found luggage tags at the Dollar Tree right near the bead store at Warden and Eglinton for $1.25 each if you are interested.
  4. Hi there - just reading through posts and see that you are getting married in May 2014 as well! I too will be doing out of town bags and here are my ideas so far: - sunscreen - itinerary/welcome letter - personalized bottle of water - some of our favourite treats - personalized lip balm - door hanger Do you know anything about outside vendors?? I was told when i did a site visit in June that they do not allow outside vendors. I have already hired my photographer and make up artist so just plan on paying for a one night stay for each of them. Melissa
  5. Hi Madso - when I met with Mayte in June, we discussed using real peonies in my bouquet but its extremely expensive. Apparently they are flown in from Miami and I'm not sure its worth the extra money. She quoted $160 for a bridal bouquet. I will be getting a fake bouquet made.
  6. Hi vas2014 - when I met with Mayte in June, I asked her about these lanterns and she said you are welcome to bring them however be warned it's not usually windy at night time and they can be dangerous if they fly behind the restaurant as they have their propane tanks and very dry bushes.
  7. Hi there - I went to Dreams Palm Beach for a site visit in June and its great! Try the Huracan cafe...they also do beautiful weddings there.
  8. Hi there - I would greatly appreciate the invoice, my email is [email protected]. Thanks! Melissa
  9. Hi there - my fiance and I did a site visit in June and we stayed at the Dreams Palm Beach on the preferred side. It was a great hotel, we liked that it was small enough that you could walk around without having to take a trolly, there are no bracelets and no need to make reservations at the restaurants. Staying on the preferred side, you get free wifi, free computer use, towels, there is a restaurant for preferred guests only, different pool, sectioned off area on the beach and snacks in the lounge. Hope this helps!
  10. Yes, it includes all the decor that you want for your theme. Mayte is extremely passionate and will go out of her way to buy and or make decorations to accommodate your theme. She uses decorations she already has otherwise she buys decorations from Etsy.
  11. My travel agent told us Melia Caribe or Melia Tropical are best bang for your buck resorts.
  12. Hi cmingalone - The $1500 fee does include chairs but they are regular wicker chairs. We went to visit Mayte in June. They are very nice and Mayte can add a sash to them. You can order other chairs but they are an additional fee.
  13. Has anyone done a site visit? wondering how the food and rooms are like?!? We are staying there May 2014 for our wedding which will take place at Jellyfish Restaurant.
  14. Hi there - I would love to see the invoice, please email me [email protected] Thanks!
  15. Hi there - my fiance and I were a little weary about sending the wire deposit as well but decided too even though it wasn't necessary. However, I ended up wriing the money (the wire cost about $30-$40 CAD) just so I could sleep with piece of mind that my date was secured.
  16. Hi there- we were there in June for a site visit and the wedding we saw had only 6 guests. The upstairs portion of the restaurant is open for the general public and you will not be bothered by other guests. We too, will not rent out the restaurant, it's not necessary.
  17. Hi there - my fiance and I went to Punta Cana in June to do our engagement pictures, scope out resorts, to see JellyFish and to meet Mayte. We fell deeper in love with Jellyfish after our visit. Going off the resort is totally safe! We ordered a cab to Jellyfish from our resort (we were staying at Dreams Palm Beach) and we never felt like we were in any danger. You go down a really bumpy road right before the Jellyfish (about 2-3 mins drive) but once you arrive, its a beautiful view and awesome food! I planned my trip to Jellyfish on a day there was a wedding so I could see first hand what it would be like. Will post pictures soon.
  18. Yes, I'm May 2014! But will be getting married at Jellyfish.
