@@acw271011 No worries...ask away! I have received private messages from a few different people asking about the resort so I figured why not make a thread!! For your arrival dinner, you really can't go wrong. All of the restaurants are wonderful and being a group of 6, you won't have any issue getting seated. If your looking to get dressed up and "fancy", the french restaurant is beautiful and the food is outstanding. The Hacienda (Mexican) is more relaxed but very fun. Ginger (Japanese) has a few different options that could work. They seat right at the sushi bar if that is your thing. They have customary tables and can order off the menu or the sushi bar menu there. They also have hibachi style seating. For the hibachi, you do have to make a reservation though. The hibachi is more of a fun thing...although the food was good, I preferred the regular menu or the sushi. Mar y Tierra is by the beach and also a great choice. As you can tell, I am a huge fan of the food so again, there really isn't a bad choice. We had a large group so we scheduled a short get together in the plaza (open air, centrally located) and everyone had dinner following. It will be great with a small group! The resort is very lush and has some great architecture! There are many spots that would be perfect for photos! There is a large fountain near the lobby that is gorgeous. I am partial to the beach of course but there are also several paths and walkways near the beach that are picturesque. The gazebo is a favorite too! I had my cocktail hour there. When you arrive, I think your head will be buzzing with different locations for photos! They have a really pretty walk way that connects to the heart of the resort...I think they call it a coffee bridge? Maybe? If I did a first look, I would do it there! It's gorgeous. I did not travel into PDC but a few of our guests did. The resort does offer some transportation that they used and I know it was very reasonable but they did the whole shopping/eating thing. Since you would be going right to your location and back, I assume that wouldn't work. I do know that a cab there is $40 USD and takes about 20 minutes. Thankfully, I didn't have any outside vendor fees. I either used their vendor or sourced it myself. Depending on the type of vendor, it can get costly. For buildings, I have only stayed in a Golden Jr. My guests stayed in Silver Suites to guarantee the King Bed and two people shared a Deluxe. For Silvers, I really liked Building 2 where my guests stayed. They were close to main pool and heart of the resort, but a short walking distance from my room. For Golden's, my favorite is Building 7. Buildings 6, 7, and 8 are the Goldens, 7 being the middle one. They have their own "lazy river" type pool out front of the buildings. To be honest, this is where my husband and I have spent the most time, collectively, on all of our trips. It's perfect! There is a snack bar between Buildings 6 and 7 and a bar between 7 and 8. They do come around and take drink and snack orders also. You do not have to be staying in the Golden Suites to enjoy the pool/bar/food. The Golden's are further from the restaurants than the Silver's, but are closer to the beach and the buffet there. We enjoy the walk back to the room after dinner or drinks/dancing. To be honest, that is one of the things we love most about VIM. You aren't on top of other guests. We have been to resorts where the food, rooms, pools, and beach and are very close to one another; that's not for us. We like how it feels like your own little world. I would say the farthest rooms from the heart of the resort (Emeralds) are about a 5 minute walk. Maybe. I'm overestimating. They do offer golf cart rides to wherever you want to go so if there is a time when you don't feel like walking, a simple phone call is all you need. I have some pictures and a map of the resort if you want to take a peek at it!

There are some outdated threads on the site for VIM brides but nothing recent! I know the resort hosts weddings daily so I figured it was time for an updated thread for all the potential brides-to-be! I was married at VIM recently (March 2015) and am happy to answer any questions, as I am sure my fellow Mrs. are also. Hope this helps. Good luck and congrats!

When To Book The Wedding In Your Week Long Trip
MrsCtoB replied to Kirsteen's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
If at all possible, I highly recommend one day for organization (can be the day you arrive) and one day to greet guests/get all the mechanics out of the way/rehearsal before the wedding. For example, we arrived on a Wednesday and took care of meeting with the coordinator and handed over all of our requests. Our guests arrived mid day Thursday and that day was all about them and making sure they were situated and welcomed. Friday was a great day of bonding and then the rehearsal. Wedding was on Saturday. That might be excessive for some, but I found that it worked out perfectly. By Thursday, I was relaxed and could devote all my time to our guests. For those who could only stay with us for 4 nights, they were still able to take part in all of the festivities and had Sunday to relax before heading home. Good luck and congratulations!- 8 replies

How To Choose A Maid Of Honor
MrsCtoB replied to Hydewedding's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
ICK...sorry your in this situation! It's a tough one and as mentioned above, bridesmaid drama happens to all of us!!! There are a few ways that you can approach this I think. I think if you really do have one friend in mind to be the moh you could choose just one and prepare yourself for the backlash. After all, it is YOUR day and if you feel strongly about one friend being your moh over another, you should go with that. Consider how involved you want your moh to be in the process and what responsibilities you will want to delegate to her...that may help you to see which friend is better matched for the role. Another option (even though you mentioned you really didn't want to do it) would be to have them both serve as your moh's. While you would be appeasing them both, remember that they will have to work TOGETHER. Is that something they can do? Or will it cause you more frustration in the end? We all would love to think that our friends would not cause us more stress during our special time and will do the right thing, but I think I speak for many of us here on the forum when I say that is sadly not the case. Not sure how large your wedding is expected to be but have you considered not having a wedding party? While that is not an option for some, I have a friend who went this route and it worked out quite well. Everyone was a guest so there wasn't a feeling of some being "more special" than others. My friend chose this option because of a situation similar to yours so just something to consider. Best of luck to you and I hope everything works out. My most important piece of advice is to follow your vision and do what YOU really want to do. Things will come up and there may be drama but in most cases no matter what you choose, that will be the case. You'll get through it but if in the end, you are doing what's important to you, it'll be perfect. -
I agree! It might be a bit early for the 2017 prices to be available but I would take advantage of the time that you have and begin to consider what the must haves are for your resort etc. If you plan to do site visits, the more time you have the better!

After The Wedding!
MrsCtoB replied to veryvalentine's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
First, you looked amazing and I am so happy to hear that generally everything went well. I can relate on some of what you are feeling. I think for me, and maybe for you, the whole "this is never going to happen again" thing really worked on me. I am very happy with how everything went but when you think that this will never happen again, I think that pressure makes you look further into things and place importance on things that really overall, aren't that important. Who knows...maybe if we changed the things that we keep thinking about that went "wrong", it might have changed something else that went right. Maybe more time on individual photos might have meant less time somewhere else. To this day, I still get teary eyed thinking that I will never get all of those people together in the same place, in a great mood, and having a wonderful time. BUT I try to remember that that is what made my wedding so special. I think once you get your wedding photos and you see what WAS captured, you will feel better about the whole thing.- 19 replies

I'm not sure if this is in line with your vision/style but Nordstrom's carries a designer, Adrianna Papell that is I wore one of her gowns for the legal ceremony and the rehearsal dinner. Really good quality and the prices are reasonable especially for the gowns with beading! Good luck! http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/adrianna-papell-embellished-blouson-gown/3275191?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=2375500&fashionColor=BLUSH&resultback=357 This is the gown I wore...doesn't come in white but I did see a few that did.

I sent out two sets of cards: 1. For wedding guests: A personalized card from Shutterfly. The front had a picture of the both of us from our Trash the Dress session and the inside had a group photo from the ceremony with a caption that said "Thank you for joining us in Mexico! We will always cherish the memories we created with you!" The bottom portion of the card had room for writing so I wrote personal notes and thanked those who gave gifts (thank you for your thoughtful/generous gift etc.) and if they didn't, I would try to write about a special memory from the trip or thank them for their contributions to the day. 2. For everyone else (co-workers/those who couldn't attend/etc.): I purchased some simple cards from Target and sent those out to those who did not attend but sent cards and/or gifts. I would suggest buying some extras of a generic type so that you can send one out quickly if need be. We received a lot of cards in the month following the wedding that we didn't really expect. I think people wait to see if you plan on having an at home reception before sending a card/gift. Good luck!
