  1. before my dress fiasco, I planned on finding a reception dress because my first dress was a bit heavy BUT now that I really found the perfect dress I am keeping it on. It's nice and light and I love it so much I know I wont want to take it off
  2. What styles/colors are your bm's wearing? My MOH will wear: http://www.weddingtonway.com/products/alfred-angelo-7243s-bridesmaid-dress?&sku=aa-7243s-pomegranate in pomegrante Bridesmaids: http://www.weddingtonway.com/products/alfred-angelo-7172-bridesmaid-dress?&sku=aa-7172-pomegranate http://www.weddingtonway.com/products/alfred-angelo-7138-bridesmaid-dress?&sku=aa-7138-pomegranate http://www.weddingtonway.com/products/alfred-angelo-7176-bridesmaid-dress?&sku=aa-7176-pomegranate all in pomegrante I love that the dresses are all a little different much like my girls themselves. The girls all really liked the same shoe so I purchased these sandals for them... http://www.dsw.com/shoe/chinese+laundry+glisten+flat+sandal?prodId=312092&productRef=SEARCH Still working on accessories for them
  3. I think I saw the picture of your gown... if it is the one I am thinking you will look gorgeous, don't worry! Thank you!!! I really LOVE it!
  4. @@calgarybride2015 I know! It's so hard normally to try and stay consistent with my sorta diet and some exercise. The holidays will be interesting.
  5. @@calgarybride2015 Thank you! We had sent my measurements and requested size to be manufactured and somehow it literally was cut 4 inches too small! It was my first fitting and I had a panic attack in the fitting room because I could see the size of the dress and the receipt attached to the garment bag stated all the correct measurements but I physically could not get it on properly. I knew I had not gained weight but I could not think of why else this was happening! They eventually got me back in my clothes and remeasured me...same measurements. They measured the dress and realized it was at least 3.5'' off. It had to be sent back to the manufacturer to verify but I received an email back from them that verifies it was 4''. The bridal salon is ensuring everything is taken care of thankfully. It really has been an adventure with my dress. @@TinkerSofi thank you! I am so in love with it! I guess all this frustration is worth it to find a dress I reallllllllllllllly love
  6. Hi! Fellow masshole...and here is what we were told. You will get your application for marriage certificate at your town/city hall. Some city/town halls will have a Judge or JP on location and they will perform the legal "I DO"s. It is very short and to the point. The other option is to take the application and hire a JP and have your legal ceremony wherever you would like. I had a friend who had the JP "marry" them in her living room the night before her DW so it really is up to you and you can make it as small or extravagant as you would like. Either way, the marriage certificate application is signed and mailed. You will receive it a few weeks later and can then start the name change process etc. if you are doing that! Hoping it really is as simple as they made it seem to us!
  7. I had initially posted a link of my dress here however we have had some changes since. Unfortunately (/fortunately) when my first fitting came around, my dress was made 4" too small!! Since I had purchased my original dress, a new Spring line had been released and one caught my eye while I visited the bridal salon. I ended up falling in LOVE with this new dress, and since a new dress had to be made for me anyway, I decided to switch. While I truly loved my first dress, the fabric was of concern. This new dress is everything I loved about the first dress with different (lighter) fabric! I am SO excited. Guess it was meant to be My new dress...THE dress: http://www.allurebridals.com/products/9002
  8. Hi @@Lia33 ! Hope your planning is going well... We actually ended up with the rib eye steak and red snapper for the fish option. FI really wanted the red snapper instead of the salmon because he had it at the Mexican restaurant last year and loved it so that was that. The vegetarian option actually sounds super good too and I have had a lot of RSVPs for it. Still no clue how I will differentiate but I am sure I will come up with something. Planning is now in the super stressful stage lol 4.5 months left and all kinds of final decisions needed! AHHH... stressful but fun and exciting!
  9. I think it will depend on if you have it done at the resort or if your bringing in a team. Once you know which direction you are going in, you will have an idea of how many hands will be on deck. I do agree that noon is probably a little late in either case. I am a hair and MUA for on location bridal here at home and normally for 6 people having hair and make up done, I will send a team of two strong stylists who can perform both hair and make up, or 3 stylists (one will focus on the bride, one for hair only, and one for make up). Generally, I will set aside 2 hours for the bride. I know that sounds excessive but it allows time to make sure everything is perfect and in most cases, brides get more time consuming services done (eyelashes, airbrushing). This also allows for the bride to be done first in case the photographer wants some shots of the bride while the rest of the bridesmaids finish up. For the bridesmaids, I like to allow 1-1.5 hours depending on hair length and density. Again, if you have 2-3 stylists on hand, one will be prepping hair and another starting make up so it can run pretty smoothly once the rotation begins. Good luck!
  10. We are... We plan on having a short one and then the MOH and Best Man have expressed that they want to make short speeches as well. Probably will keep it just at that.
  11. Best of luck to you and wishes for a speedy recovery!!! We will be thinking of you
  12. www.studiosuits.com my FI is leaning towards SOMETHING on this site. He is pickier than me, if you can believe it so he is debating linen pants and vest or linen pants, vest, with jacket for ceremony. He knows he wants to do the linen option so he is comfortable but they have options to line the linen as well which is nice.
  13. @@Lia33 of course! I will be sure to let you know ALL about it.
  14. This website is certainly a useful tool... I would start off with picking the location though. I would weigh the pros and cons of your top 3 per say and look up some flight prices. Travel agents can definitely help you there also, especially those that specialize in DWs as they are usually familiar with the packages and freebies you will get with each resort option. I know that our summer break is not considered high season in Mexico so sometimes you can get great rates for guests during that time, especially July and August. There is this really awesome website that lists the average temp for each day in any specific location with average rain fall and humidity etc. I found it helpful when I was planning the date for our DW. If I can find it, I will link it later! Good luck
  15. @@Lia33 of course! I love that I have another VIM bride on here to share details with!
  16. I would put your foot down and pick the color, fabric, designer, and styles you like. Let everyone know ahead of time that a decision has to be made as time is winding down and you've narrowed it down to your favorites. Lets face it, we have all been in weddings where we haven't LOVED the dress or it wasn't a dress we would choose for ourselves. If they cant pull it together and realize that its stressing you out unnecessarily, I would be pretty straightforward that you don't NEED bridesmaids (if that is indeed true) weddingtonway.com was a great tool for me... I didn't order the dresses from there but it allowed me to collect all my favorites in one area and all the girls could view them.
  17. I agree... I didn't think I needed paper invites but I am glad I did. We did save the dates and included our website link which I spent a ton of time on making sure it was updated with everything one would need. We had the first wave of guests who understood and deposited and all was great. However, and not to be fresh, some people don't understand save the dates I think. We had a second wave of interest recently with people asking us and our families how to book, how much, where to go etc. and when we refer them to the save the date its like "there was a website on it?" "I didn't know we needed to go on it?" etc. I think the invitation reiterated everything and reminded those who maybe were interested but hadn't realized how quickly it is approaching.
  18. ugh! I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me and the frustrating part is that I had to hear from others. I ended up talking to her about it...and it settled it and I could move on. I think you should probably just talk to her about it and maybe you will get a clearer answer and know what you want to do from there. I don't know if you plan on having readings at your ceremony but that's always a way to include people who aren't actually in the bridal party.
  19. @@Lia33 I think she starts it at 5pm because they do the champagne toast with everyone after the ceremony and then keep some of your bridal party and family there for photos before they are escorted to the cocktail hour. If you look at the DJ timeline (if you got that yet) it says the reception starts at 6:15PM so not a half hour but 15 minutes for your guests to settle in and find their seats.
  20. we aren't having one... my MOH really wanted to give us one but I just didn't feel it was necessary and like you said above, it would end up being a very large group! I do, however, love the Mexican theme. Sounds awesome and a great way to get excited about the upcoming trip!
  21. wish I could see (almost) but as a hair and mua for special occasions I can definitely say that you are spot on and should absolutely have your hair the way YOU like it. I have done a soft wave for women with a bob and its usually very well received but if you don't like any curl to your hair then that may not be the way to go. As for a straightening treatment you certainly want to try one without the harsh/harmful chemicals. Keratin complex by coppola is my favorite and always get good results with it. You can do 2 types of treatments with it: a blowout or the full treatment. The main difference is the blowout is applied the same way but it is blow dried into the hair and you are able to wash it out in 24-48 hours. It doesn't last as long. The full treatment is applied and then flat ironed into the hair. You cant wash your hair or pull it back (headband, elastic, sunglasses, etc.) for 72 hours and can last for up to 6 months. Both cut down on dry and styling time and tame frizz. I recommend that most brides considering it do the blow out first (a few months before) and judge from there. Hope that helps@
  22. I have accepted that I will be hot no matter what. During the time of year that I am getting married, the nights can cool off so I am hoping for some relief at the reception and planning on doing SOMETHING to help with the thigh sweating etc. Ultimately if you love it and it makes you happy the rest will fall into place. If not, I'll peel it off and jump in the pool at the end of night
  23. I agree...2 years is enough to work out the opening kinks. As far as bad reviews... I try not to read them anymore. People always find something to complain about. I don't know what type of expectations these people have but more often than not, if you read the entire review, they really are complaining about such minuscule things. You can never please everyone so I stopped thinking I would. Good luck!!1
