Aloha! So, I thought I should post a couple pictures of my save the date passport. I had a lady from my area make them, it took weeks & weeks to get them this way & as picky as I am, I'm not completely thrilled, but it's over & done with & there's nothing I can do. Plus, at the end of the day, they didn't cost that much, they just created a lot of stress & hassle! If I had the time, like I did wayy before, I would have made them myself, but I don't have my desktop (old school, I know) & I don't have paint shop pro (who even uses that anymore?!) I have my mac & no cool programs to do it, with no time or patience. Anyway... Here is what they look like in person. We did the ribbon ourselves (my mom & I) & I sent them in HOT pink envelopes (what, I like to be different!) I'm all for helping. I have my word document that I used to communicate with the lady & how to get my ideas across. I'm currently working on my invitations that will be boarding passes from an Etsy company who am gladly willing to spend the extra money on them, because they are looking amazing! I'm not taking a picture of every page.. I did a page for : 1) cover -picture above 2) passport page -2nd picture 3) formal invitation -2nd picture 4) Wedding Events - because we're doing a luau instead of a wedding rehearsal FOR ALL GUESTS - the wedding -brunch the following am FOR ALL GUESTS 5) Accommodations -because we love staying at the Westin & they are giving us a discount 6) Travel Arrangements -we made a note about flights being under $800 is great 7) Map - because the wedding & hotel are not very close I wanted the guests to see 8) Back Cover - a picture of their "hang ten" saying Mahalo (thank you) & see you there!

will you be my maid of honor?!
aleedoc17 replied to aleedoc17's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I completely forgot to write what i put in it! Bridesmaids the DVD Pandora bracelet (for Meghan, because she doesn't have one) Kate Spade bracelet (for Steph because she has a Pandora) INSIDE READS: best friend ever outside reads: "birds of a feather, two of a kind, perfect pair, partners in crime, peas in a pod, sidekicks." Hawaii stickers (we all sort of scrapbook) a lint roller (because I'm so OCD, it's more of a joke) a ring pop (because it's my turn to "pop" the question) Pandora charm (for both girls) all in a beautiful box from Michaels! -

August 17, 2013 Maui, Hawaii

It's me again, Maui bride, August 17, 2013. I wanted to show my "will you be my bridesmaid?" boxes that I did, but unfortunately I did not take any pictures & only have the two above from Stephanie & none from Meghan. But I can give you the poems that I gave to them & tell you what I put in the boxes.. Stephanie is my best friend. She's going to be my maid of honor & Meghan, who is another best friend is my matron of honor. Because I only have two bridesmaids, I thought it would make it nicer & easier to do maid & matron. Not to mention, my relationships with the are different & very important in their own way. Meghan & I have been friends for abot 7 years now, through thick & thin. my deepest & darkest secrets. When I needed a place to sleep, it was her house. When I needed to be alone, she'd ask no questions, & wait for me to talk. We met at work, Applebee's, 7 years ago & I'm so grateful to have met her. Stephanie, my black baby momma. NO, I'm not racist & I mean it out of love, really. She has two boys, 3&2 years old, who mean the world to me. We thought er having them would tear us apart, when in fact, they have kept us together & closer, which I thank god everyday she's my best friend. We, too, met at work, Applebee's, about 5 years ago! The poems: Stephanie Teresa will you be my Maid of Honor? Will you take an eleven-hour flight, that’s almost 5,000 miles, for my special day? Will you sacrifice your sick days to deal with me and all my wishes and wants? Will you hold my hand on my wedding day? Will you not only be my very best friend and sister from another mister (and mama), but my psychiatrist too? Will you wipe away my tears, good or bad, so I don’t ruin my make-up? Will you be nice to me no matter how much of a bitch I am? Will you smile for the thousands of pictures that will be taken? Will you wear make-up, although you never do, for me, because I’m asking you oh so nicely? Will you try to grow your hair so long or buy a nice weave to have a fancy hairstyle? Will you bite your tongue when I say I look fat in my dress? Will you get on the dance floor, look like a fool, flap those wings, to get the party started? Lastly, but oh so important, will you hold my dress each and every time I have to pee?

I'll be wearing my DREAM dress: Maggie Sottero, Mia! I lucked out. I randomly went out, not planning to try on dresses, because my mother is frugal. So we had gone to five stores, not one, or two, but FIVE different stores to get prices. Seriously mom, enough was enough (but not I'm grateful we did!) Finally, the last store, always happens, having tried on ZERO dresses at prior stores, I walked into a retirement sale (a store going out of business) where a lady asked me what I was looking for & as I replied that I really wasn't, she continued asking about my style (which I didn't see anything else I liked) & said "there is ONE dress & ONE dress only, but no stores in this area carry this designer" she asked me who & told me her story, that she knew Maggie & worked at one of her fashion shows (or something like that) in 2010 & had quite a few dresses. My mom & I didn't believe her. We accused her of having fakes, the lady sort of got mad, but she understood where we were coming from after she knew I had done my research! She went & search & found that they had THE dress in MY size! I tried it on, I had to! I saw the price tag of $1,700, which was fine with me anyway, it was my dream dress, I just needed mommy dearest to see this was my dress! As I was giving my mom the eye, the lady said "and don't forget 50% off because we're closing & let me tell you, you can't get discounts on her dresses unless the store is going out of business!" It was like $700. Seriously, I HAD to get it. I haven't had any alterations done, which the wedding is 5 months away. I NEED to get on that. & since the store is closed I need to find someone who does it, with a dress from outside, which is hard to do. & since I moved in with my FI, I don't know where the list of people are that the store gave to me (damnit!) A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

Hello! Just a question or two for your fellow brides & brides to be.. who have used printing companies before Has anyone used Magcloud? I guess it is like Vistaprint but allows you to create more magazine/digest style things. I'm in the middle of creating my very own magazine for the welcome bags, to bring it all together, instead of having 15 different pieces of paper.. If you've used Vistaprint. How do you get good deals? How have people done the tops of the Emergency Kits, Hangover Kits, etc, that stuff? Even the pens! I looked at prices, they're crazy expensive, then I read brides doing it for free! HOW?! Anywhere, here is what I'm thinking for my magazine (feel free to give me your opinions, thoughts, suggestions, your questions) -thank you note -interview of B&G about wedding planning -fun facts about Hawaii (our Wedding Destination) -proposal story -Hawaiian words & their meanings -word search -cross word -reviews on places/activities (since we've been before) -a list of must see&do -our itinerary of the wedding weekend -list of phone numbers (i.e hotel, reception, taxi, shuttle) -a map of the island & a close up on the main town we're staying -a few stupid stories like magazine do:: *my groom wants me to do a silly winter story since we'll be in paradise in August & when we get back winter will be around the corner *like the magazines do "who wore it better" but my face on wedding dresses & have my face on them to make them think what gown i'll be in *famous people & their engagement rings & then mine *a story on the road to Hana **A must do while in Maui!!** I will also be posting my save the dates & how I asked my MOH & MNOH Thank you! Amanda

Aloha! My name’s Amanda & I’m new to the DWB world! I wanted to make my first "post" to introduce myself & tell you about my wonderful engaged life, but as short as possible. I’m from New Jersey, I’m 26 years young & my fiancé’s name is Eric, he is 3 months older, but was a year older in school. We first met in high school, (on the same school bus) on 9/11/01. (What a day that was! I met the love of my life & the World Trade Center was attacked.) It took us a couple years to officially date but we did; we dated in high school & the first couple years in college. I guess you could say we took some time apart to “see the world†(we try not to talk about our time apart). In 2010, after many years of never running into each other, we got back in contact & started to date again. It was love at first sight all over again, the butterflies, the smiles all day long, everything. Exactly a year later, Eric proposed. If you wish to know more read our story on our wedding website: http://doughertyandsmith.ourwedding.com/ Although I’ve been engaged since October 16, 2011, I’m just now getting into the blogs & stuff. I figured I would try to make as many posts as I can about our destination wedding in Hawaii (hints the Aloha!) I’m in the middle of making the invitations & making welcome bags (OOT bags) so I will be sure to post pictures, links, ideas, & as much information as I can, because I know I’ve been stressed about these things! The Internet is suppose to be filled with great ideas with every thing written out with links & prices & details! Well, for me, it was hard. Pinterest, Etsy, Weddingbee, Wanelo, & TheKnot are my favorite websites that I have found the most help! Bride’s name; Amanda Groom’s name; Eric Future name; Smith (how original!) Wedding date: August 17, 2013 Destination; Maui, Hawaii Hotel: The Westin Maui Resort & Spa Ceremony/Reception Location; Gannon’s Wailea, Maui, Hawaii For now, I think this post is enough. My next one I’ll try to have pictures for my save the dates. Suggestions? Questions? Ideas? Please feel free! Mahalo, The Future Mrs. Smith
