How to remind guests to book their room
aleedoc17 replied to shelleyanderic's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I feel like people, at first, were so against my wedding, because it was so far, then they looked into it & were all for it! Now, 4 months away they're like "ohh I can't" "it's too expensive" yes i know how much it is, however you've had well over a year, plus some, & most of these people work in the food industry, where they can pick up extra shifts, do doubles, or stay later & make that quick cash. Some could babysit like they did before, so could work the OT at the hospital, some could get a 2nd job because they hardly work now! ugh it's so frustrating. especially because we put a huge chunk of change down for the room deposit & if we don't get the minimum we need, then everyone gets screwed with this discount! -
welcome bags: are you doing them? I am. I'm obsessed. like seriously, I think I have a problem flowers: no idea! I want a cascade, i know it's old school, but i think Hawaiian flowers look amazing like this. but honestly I'm not a flower girl. so I don't want too much money spent on flowers. I wouldn't mind a DIY or fakes? I don't know DJ: Gannon's only allows certain ones. so I have to contact them. Photobooth: Something I was hoping my NJ photographer was going to do (which was originally a plan but now it's not looking good, so back to plan A. (weird to go with B before A -- haha) decorations/centerpieces: I'm trying to figue a way to do sashes for chairs cheap, b/c Gannon's charges $7 a chair! If it's a chair but it is for both ceremony & dinner then we might suck it up! I want an archway for the ceremony. I want twinkle lights at the reception.. favors? what else am i missing?! how about you

I love the background & really wish that I found that on weddingbee site to tell my lady to do that.. my STD were a pain in the butt. seriously. i went to a local printer & it took like 10 tries for her to understand a certain font (I used to be a huge computer geek, used tobe on those journals/blogs, greatestjournal & stuch & used to make all those icons & layouts, like from AIM back in the day) & the font I really wanted I didn't even ask for! I asked for Lucida Handwriting! ughhh, I'm just glad that part is over. my invitiations are coming from a girl i found on etsy, but also has her own site, from Las Vegas, http://thestylishscribe.com/ she's currently on vacation so they're "on hold" for the next week, but when she gets back, I'm having 2 small changes & them printed! RSVP date had to be moved from May 17 to June 1 because of her vacation (makes me nervous) Do you have plans for Maui?! I wish you were staying just a little bit longer, it'd be nice to meet up (is that creeper-ish? sorry) I just really feel connected to you, because like you said, it's hard to find any Hawaii brides on this site, & especially with ours so close im many ways!

I have 2 diff photographers actually. silly me didn't mention. the one I did mention above is a #1 Hawaii photographer. they'll b doing prior pics of the groom ( because opposite sex can't b in locker rooms at Gannon's. if this is where we get ready) the ceremony and sunset pics. BUTTT... I also have a local NJ photographer who I've been obsessed with for 4-5 years now. I'm shipping her out for our welcome pool party, luau in place of rehearsal dinner, me getting ready. the reception. brunch following day. boudoir session for grooms surprise gift and my trash the dress. woah. lots of pictures to be captured!

as for your comments about photographers & other locations. I just found my photographer from their pictures & locations & originally was going to do it on the West side of the island, but knowing how the weather is different & pictures weren't as beautiful, we decided to change. although our hotel is still West side, which is making this all the more complicated.. but we like a challenge this is my photographer company: http://www.mauiwedding.net/index.php & this is our location: http://www.hawaii-photographers.com/MauiWeddingLocations/Gannons-Seawatch but after all is said & done, I need a drink, or two! haha

i didn't see that flower girl tutu! it's beautiful! my girls' mother is an amazing sewer & artist so i'm trying to talk to her to make theirs something like these: my passport STD my colors, well as you can see in STD they're pink & blue, but i then changed the dresses to coral, but then i didn't like that colors so now the bridesmaid dresses are a pomegranate. we didn't like any other color & we were in a rush for dresses! their dresses are in pomegranate like i said, from alfred angelo. I felt bad making them pay all this money, so i let my 2 girls pick their dress, any dress, any color. they ended up with the same dress:

Congrats to you & your Hawaiian wedding. As much as I LOVEEEE this site, it's so hard for us Hawaiian brides to get really detailed information because the Caribbean is SOO different! I told myself I was going to post as many detailed things as I could & many reviews for future Hawaiian brides. We have too many similarities girlfriend! I didn't think it really mattered where in Hawaii, flights are expensive! haha. I mean I know the smaller islands (& Kauai) are pricey just because they're smaller (Kauai being the farthest) some of our family & friends (coming from East Coast) got flights for a week + for under $600! which is cheap (we thought, knowing from our last trip) our STDs are done invitations are a little delayed because the girl making them are on vacation, sucks, because it's another stressful thing. my STD (a post I did before) are passport style &then my invitations are boarding passes. My RSVP will be a luggage tag type. I've got my dress & TTD dress, my 2 MOH, their dresses are ordered, he asked his 3 guys, still waiting on suit choices, my flower girls are picked, still deciding what their mother will make them (I want a tu-tu style dress for them!) my mother & his found their dresses. My photographer is being "shipped" out from my "hometown" along with a photographer there. I need my shoes. I need DJ. I need Photobooth. I need to pick music selections & such. I don't even know what else! I'm stressing on my welcome bags & welcome "letter" which actually is going to be a magazine! yikes, talk about aiming high with 4 months!

It took me this long to read them & although I'm not a reader, I couldn't put the book down, for the most part. Maybe it's because I'm 4 months away from my wedding, maybe because we just bought a house & we're on our own, whatever the reason, it made me think that those about to be married should read it.. I wouldn't say this is a poorly written book or a great one.. I do think it's one to read (whether it's because everyone else is reading it, to see what the hype is about, the read about crazy sexual people, to know that someone out there has that sexual drive, I don't know) I'm not a huge Twilight fan & honestly, I think these both go back to Grey's Anatomy, same town. "Big people" "big drama" it's like any other conflict with soap operas, but people still love them! I guess it's just a personal preference!

I mean, if she decides to add the photobooth I'd pay for the baggage fees. I have to pay for the excursions she's attending (luau, wedding dinner meal (which is normal) & anything else I do) We're still discussing her assistant & possibly a car or something like that.. but with airfare & our hotel costs, it's about $2-3k

3 more (well now 2) & I feel like these last 15 have been the hardest!

Is anyone else shopping their local photographer to their DW? Is anyone else getting a great deal like I am?! I have been following Rachel & her photography for about 3 or 4 years now. I'm obsessed, She's so down to earth & captures pictures with so much love! Rachel is from Cape May, NJ is flying 7,000 miles for my wedding & I am to pay for her airfare & hotel stay! & in return, I get 5 days of her to take pictures: welcome pool party, luau (rehearsal dinner), wedding, Sunday brunch & our trash the dress session PLUS I'm going to do a bodoiur session (however you spell it) for my FI as a gift (probably more for Christmas gift) I think if you are in love so much with your photographer you can work up a deal with them too! tell them it'll help their portfolio & let them get a chance of a lifetime! DW is the new IT thing! Just make sure you have a contract & explain everything you expect from them & give them time to go & see the world! Any questions feel free to ask me! how to contact Rachel: https://www.facebook.com/hello.gorgeous.photography.nj?fref=ts http://www.hellogorgeousphotography.net/#/about-2/
