  1. Amazing! I decided on one dress for both events. I was like, if I'm going to spend that kind of cash on a dress, I'm going to wear it as many times as possible! We are also doing a trash the dress! I can completely understand though how you wouldn't want to risk it not getting back and cleaned on time. YES and I know alterations are nuts, I'm also making a few changes to the dress and it's going to cost me a pretty penny. Guess what? I just upgraded to the Presidential Package!! I made a few adjustments for the AHR which will compensate a bit for the additional cost. But I took your advice to just GO FOR IT! I have to say, I'm SUPER excited for you to come back and post all your pics! Are you renting the golf cart?? What's your itinerary for the ceremony, pics, reception, etc? THIS WEBSITE ROCKS!!!
  2. Ya, you know, you are so right! The whole wedding at home is really for my fiancé's family really, so I think I should have my total dream wedding down South. And really, $3000 in the grand scheme of things isn't so bad. I'm really trying to be frugal and DYI as much as possible! What are you doing for centerpieces?? I'm trying to think of lightweight items I can bring along with me for DYI decorating. SO many details to think about!
  3. Hi Jenny! Sorry for the delaying in responding. Yes, we did put down our deposit for the Gold Package, thinking we would ask for the Italian restaurant. A lot of the extras they offer in the Presidential Package I can sort of take or leave. BUT now I'm second guessing and am thinking I might prefer the Palapa. It will cost us about $3000 more overall to upgrade, but I'm thinking it might be worth it because it's so private. To accommodate family and avoid people complaining, we are having a wedding at home 2 weeks prior to leaving and get it done legally here, for 300+ ppl :S. So the costs add up like crazy!!! Such a tough decision.....
  4. Hi Jen! I am getting married at Grand Sirenis next May! Can you tell me what package you ended up going with, and if you're not having the Palapa, what restaurant you're going with???
  5. Your wedding looks absolutely beautiful!!! We decided not to go with the Palapa because we have to pay for 2 weddings already (one at home to make everyone happy, then the one WE want!), but looking at your pics I feel like I want the Palapa!!! Did you talk to any brides who had their dinner at an a la carte???
  6. Sorry for delay - house renos have taken over my wedding planning time! Actually, we have quite a large group, coming from all over Canada and the US, so I opted to get a destination wedding group specialist with Flight Centre to organize the trip part. As for the wedding itself, going through Flight Centre wasn't even an option, so we booked through the resort directly. I read many reviews that sometimes when you book through the travel provider, you have issues having certain things honoured with the hotel - so we decided to go right to the source. 500 deposit to reserve the date. We went with the Gold Package, only because we maybe have up to 70 guests, and the private menu is just too pricey for us (80-100 per plate per person, ion additional to the cost of the package). Although every time I look at pictures of the Palapa, it makes me kind of sad :-( But to please family we also have to throw a huge wedding in Ottawa, so 2 weedings is already crazy enough! The white and black restaurant is the Italian restaurant, and it is really beautiful! But how it works is, you give your top 3 choices of restaurants and they tell you 2 weeks prior which one you are getting. So far my experience dealing with the wedding coordinator at the resort has been fantastic. They answer all my questions and I usually don't have to wait more than an hour or two to get a response - which is WAY quicker than I expected dealing with someone from Mexico!
  7. Thank you SO much for this post! We are getting married next May at Grand Sirenis, but it will be a symbolic ceremony since we are having a big wedding at home 2 weeks prior (basically to accommmodate and please family members). Initially, we were thinking of being as cheap as possible and maybe not even doing a dinner but the Palapa looks SO amazing! We are currently trying to decide between the Gold Package and getting an A la Carte, or the Presidential. Looking back, would you say it was worth every penny? How much was it per person for the dinner on top of the package price?
  8. Hey! I'm getting married at Grand Sirenis next year - I have a question about photographers - you said you went with Juan - was he the resort's photographer? I had someone in mind but honestly the $300 penalty plus 2,000 pesos per day per person is pretty steep to bring someone in. Also, can you tell me what restaurant you had your wedding in and how the food was? Did they decorate the a la carte for you? Thanks!!!
  9. Hello! I am getting married at the Grand Sirenis next May and need advice! 1) What restaurant is the best for weddings 2) Do they decorate the restaurants? Chair covers? 3) Has anyone gotten the bridal bouquet that comes with the Gold Package? 4) What is the best location to have the wedding on the beach? 5) Has anyone rented the dance floor? Seems expensive but we have a 4 hour reception so we want to dance! Thank you!!! Lee-Anne
