  1. I also meant to add you looked beautiful as did your free flowers!
  2. Congratulations Wicket76! Thanks so much for writing a review. Did you upgrade your flowers? Were they from Tai Flora?
  3. That's great! I am renting the gazebo as well and have thought about tipping some staff to run drinks for us as well. People don't make much in Jamaica so even $20 is a huge deal to them. I would even tip them by the half hour and it would still save me lots. Stephany has quoted me $23 per person to have a dedicated bartender at the gazebo.
  4. Does the hotel include the chair covers for free? They are listed in the prices as $5 per chair cover!
  5. WHAT??!! They can change the date??!! I know their flight schedules are subject to change, but I figure by a few hours here and there, but not by an entire day! So does that mean your return flight was delayed a day too? But good for you for getting that awesome deal!
  6. That's too funny that you're dealing with Marlin Travel in Kitchener too. We have a meeting with the Manager on Friday night to try and resolve some of the issues we're having. The rate we have right now with Marlin/Transat is more expensive then people can book on their own with itravel2000 or selloffvacations.com so I highly doubt anyone would book with the group. We only have 10 deposits so far and my fiance and our kids make up 5 of those lol. So even though I have every 12th booking free, we may not even get to that. We were hoping for 2 free so we could treat everyone to a snorkelling trip.
  7. I'm dealing with Marlin Travel in Kitchener and I do NOT recommend it. I think it's more of a TA problem as she's not very good. We're paying $1535 including tax for the Royal Golden, every 12th person free. You end up paying for the free person, it's just buried in your price.
  8. Thanks for sending me that info. I still haven't heard back from my TA.... She knows I'm really upset so she's avoiding me now.
  9. Many of the brides are ordering from babyonline with great success. I haven't ordered mine yet, but I plan to order from babyonline in the next few weeks. I have to try on a few dresses first to make sure it is "THE ONE".
  10. I booked through Marlin Travel too and I totally regret it. We get every 12th person free, $1535 for the Royal Golden rooms and we are allowed one price drop. Currently, you can go on itravel2000 and book for around $1350 for a junior suite. The horrible part is that the flight times were just released and it is a departure time of 10pm on the Saturday. So now if people want to hold on to their rooms, they are going to be charged an additional day to hang on to them (waiting for the TA to get back to me on how much this is). I feel awful making everyone pay the $1535 and now surprise them with another fee. It just doesn't seem right. Luckily there haven't been many deposits made, other then 6 people without the cancellation insurance. I'm thinking of paying people back and using that Transat credit towards another vacation next year and switching to another travel agent for the wedding so that we can book with another tour operator with better flight times. Any advice is appreciated.
  11. Great suggestion! She was there. The dress I like in the store is $1200 and she quoted me $179!
  12. Thanks ladies for your input! I will let you know how I make out. I am delaying my dress shopping now til next weekend. Got too many things going on for the long weekend!!
  13. Has anyone found out anything more about AliExpress? I got a quote from them but I know nothing about them... I will send the dress off to Babyonline for a quote as well.
  14. Hi Cassie! Word of advice... make your travel arrangements at a later date, but book your wedding date and time as soon as possible. They fill up quickly! I got stuck having to change my week and having a noon wedding as I left it with only 9 months prior!
  15. I have a question for past brides.... if you could go back in time to select your dress for your destination wedding, would you still buy a full length lined gown??? I worry about being too hot as my wedding is at noon!
  16. Thanks so much kailz23 for your review! You looked beautiful and so glad your day turned out as you wanted.
  17. I was originally booked at the ROR as well but I couldn't get my guests out of Halifax and St. John's without paying for a separate flight to Toronto. You don't have to pay a vendor fee if you have a friend doing the photography. That same rule applies to the ROR as well.
  18. I'm booking the steel drums for the ceremony and then hoping we can get a spot reserved for us at the buffet for lunch. We want to take everyone on a snorkelling tour for the afternoon, then dinner at 6:30. I did book the gazebo afterwards but now am thinking that we can all just head to the lobby bar or whatever. I'll decide when I'm there and if they'll supply us with rum punch or booze to bring to the gazebo as paying $20pp/hr for the bartender is ridiculously expensive. I'm not hiring a photographer so we will save money that way. This is a 2nd marriage for both of us so we want to keep it fairly simple but still appreciate everyone has spent a lot of money to come to Jamaica with us so we want everyone to have a great day.
  19. Ya, I'm getting married at a dreaded 12pm wedding on the 10th. What time is your wedding?
  20. I spoke with the Entertainment Manager and the GBPJ doesn't do the Tuesday night beach parties anymore. Said they stopped it about 2 years ago. I told him he should start it back up!
  21. I am interested as well, so please post what you find out and I'll do the same should I dig up anything.
