  1. Just to update everyone on my Davet Designs labels experience on Etsy... She is HORRIBLE. I put in an order and told her what I wanted in the comments section and she got back to me right away. I said I wanted clear labels instead of white if possible, so she said she would have to cancel that order and give me a new quote for clear. And then she totally dropped off the face of the earth. I sent her 2 reminders and she never got back to me. I would even wait 5 days between the reminders. So now I have to watch my credit card to make sure the charges were credited. I've outsourced my waterproof labels to a sign shop in Guelph. At least it is local and I can get them in a week.
  2. I've also found the individual packets crazy expensive. Dollarama sells medication bags (like ziploc bags but much smaller), so I am making labels for those and just dispensing them once I get to the resort. You need to travel with the medication in the original packaging... I'm going to do Tums, Tylenol, Advil and Immodium.
  3. BARB2014 - Thanks so much for posting those pics. Makes me happy I changed my reservation from the steakhouse to the Dolce Vita!

I kinda think charging on a per person basis is ridiculous, if all we are paying for is the bartender's time. It should just be a straight rate. That's just my rant and opinion though! I agree that the $23 per person is ridiculous especially when it is an all-inclusive resort and I would agree that a 'set up' fee and to pay for the bartenders time would be more fair. I have rented the gazebo after dinner and I'm going to tip some staff to keep running drinks out for us. That's the plan anyhow. Even if I paid someone $100 for the night to do this it would be beneficial. Plus, I'll have them set up some rum punch and beer for us which I have heard has been no charge for some of the other wedding parties. tram13 - we'll overlap on our trips. I get in on the 7th and leave on the 14th.
  6. Jamaica2014 - lots of ceremony ideas on http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/21660/share-your-ceremony-script/370#post_1952782
  7. Thanks everyone for sharing! I guess my fiance and I should get started on our ceremony script... Only 68 days to go!

We have rented out the Picses restaurant for our reception, I promise to take lots of pics and share when we get back . Happy planning ladies!! Good luck and have a great time! Can't wait to read your review!
  10. SuffolkBride - I like the straps and the belt. You could always add the straps just for the reception so the dress doesn't slip when you're dancing.

I have the free package (38 guests, gazebo, steel drums but only the $350 package with the photographer) and I haven't had to pay a deposit with 75 days to go. Although, my dinner reservation seems to be screwed up and Camecia said she would call me today to clear it up and... no phone call.
  12. I just found in the Wedding Information sheet that was sent to me by Stephany in Mar 2013. It says you can have up to 70 guests at the restaurant in a semi-private setting... To rent the Dolce Vita for a private dinner it is $2500, Piscis is $1700.

It kind of makes sense since with that many people you'll pretty much have the entire place to yourself anyway. I'm not a fan of all these different quotes for prices either! I'm renting out the Piscis for $1700 in January. I was tempted to call when I saw all these posts about it being $2500 but I'm not going to. I'm printing out all my emails with the original prices I was quoted and bringing that down. There's no way they're going to get another $800 from me when I get there. I miss Chandlyn Funny how they tell me 40 people and you were told 50 people... they really aren't consistent. I wanted to rent out the Piscis originally and they told me I didn't have enough people, and now the Piscis is rented out by another bride. Is Chandlyn not there anymore? Is Donna Lee still there?

The package I was sent by Stephany earlier in the year states that the minister fees are $200. However, I got a phone call a few weekends ago from a Kalfani - I guess he is in the wedding department - and he said that it has always been $250. Apparently the price for 2014 brides is $250, but I was told I am not eligible for any of the 2014 packages since I am getting married in 2013. Oh the confusion ensues... I am getting married Dec 2013 and just checked my documents. It says $250 for the minister fees and I would have received this information in Mar 2013. I was told on Friday that if I have over 40 people then I have to pay to have the Dolce Vita as a private venue. Has anyone encountered this? So far I have 37 people coming and I may have another 5 more but they haven't RSVP'ed. Seems crazy that I would have to inconvenience so many guests to shut down the Dolce Vita when I am only 2 people over the limit. Not to mention there aren't any limits written on any of the documents sent to me.

Even then I just keep getting the run around and not real answer, just "We're discussing with management" I'm not to worried since most Brides on here said everything went smoothly but I'm still a little concerned since Indian Ceremonies are quite different than Christian Ceremonies and I'm hoping they understand that and can get everything done the way I need. Anyways, I'm wondering how you bagged the free upgrades for your guests! My agent told me for Don Pablo it's an extra $75/person. I'm also wondering if the $800 Vendor Fee got waived for you because you were in the Don Pablo Section? When I spoke to the planners over the phone and asked the difference between Don Pablo they basically said it was a resort within a resort. Any ideas? Thanks so much! My agent (Marlin Travel) told me we can't upgrade to Don Pablo because Transat considers it a different resort. I thought that was very strange. I also can't get an answer from the wedding coordinators at the moment. Very frustrating. I wish Stephanie was still there.
  17. leannesmith - your countdown is sooo close! Only 3 more weeks to go!!
  18. And correction... Vistaprint doesn't sell water-resistant labels. I am going to buy some Avery water-resistent labels tonight and try them out in my pool over the weekend. Will let you know how they hold up on the cups!
  19. If it's one thing that I've learned through the wedding planning process is that it is absolutely impossible to please EVERYONE! So you just need to do what YOU want to do and what YOU like (with some consideration for the hubby-to-be of course!). No matter who you ask for an opinion, they will all be different and do nothing but confuse you or even upset you at times. The best advice/opinions I've gotten is from my new bdw family! So glad that you decided on the dress you like! Congratulations!!

  21. I bought my double-walled insulated cups (with lid and straw) at Dollarama for $2 each. I'm going to customize labels at Vistaprint. I didn't want to spend too much as people will likely misplace them. I have about 40 people coming. I was watching http://www.discountmugs-canada.com/ for a sale but I never saw anything worth jumping at.
