Could you pay the bulk with travelers checks and the last little amount with a credit card?

She is messing with all of my scheduled dates and stuff! We leave in less than 2 weeks! What am I gonna do?!? We are 50 days out and we sent an email to Deisy last week with some questions and we got a reply last night from Isela. She stated that Deisy is not there anymore and she answered a bunch of our questions...but the answers to some of the questions were the exact opposite that of what Deisy told us and what we were planning and promised. There were a bunch of extra changes on our preliminary invoice and a bunch of items missing. We also might not have dinner plans anymore!?!? We are trying to stay calm and optimistic. We are trying to be nice but firm and letting them know what we were previously promised. A questions - We are having our party/dancing on the Carnival Terrace and we are having a DJ. We were originally told that the DJ brings their own lighting for dancing. Now we are being quoted $350 plus tax for 4 hours of lighting???? No what we were told before. I know lighting is needed in some of the other outdoor venues, but this area has lighting already and the DJ is supposed to bring their own. Any past experiences? Thanks!

  6. Has anyone had to contact the resort via email for an existing wedding booking recently. I took the advice of a previous poster and sent my additional questions and requests to all 4 emails listed previously. I instantly got an auto reply stating that the wedding planners were out of their office around the resort helping other wedding groups. It states that all questions relating to quotes will be answered with 72 hours and all other inquires will be answered within the same business day. I'm still waiting for a reply since I just sent my message, but have other recently had quick reply's? Previous emails to the resort sometimes took a week or so to get back.
  7. We were going to do the beach but after talking with some people and thinking about if from a pratical stand pointwe changed our minds to the Pergola. One the beach we heard you have to deal with more wind, people walking around, and some state that it is hard for some guests to walk a lot on the sand (maybe due to age or something). There are numerous options here.
  8. $350 per hour is the price listed on all of their paperwork per hour for a DJ or they have a 4 hour deal for $1,000. That's what we are opting for. Also, the reason we requested Doremix originally was since they seemed highly recommended. But I'm sure whom ever the resort goes with will be good.
  9. We are getting married on Nov 22, 2013 and we have been working with Deisy to setup a Dj for us. We have heard good things about DJ Doremix so we requested them. I just got a message back stating that Doremix raised there prices this year and the resort is not using them as a resort DJ anymore. I'm assuming this is for new bookings like us. She stated we could still use Doremix but the charge would be a bit more, which we dont want to pay for. Deisy stated they now use AVI Company. Has anyone had them as their DJ? Any other DJ tips or suggestions?
  10. My understanding to have anything "private" in an area of the lobby you will need to pay for appetizers ($15 p/p plus tax and service fee) or cocktail service. We are doing apps for our group, but not cocktail service since the bar is right there.
  11. I have heard this from numerous people but eveyone seems to say that they come through in the end and make everything great. We are dealing with Deisy and she is helpful, but replys are at least a week apart. We have learned that is part of the process.

  13. My underatanding is that the number of tables doesn't matter, its the number of people. I agree that they should not charge for a non-private dinner in a restaurant.
  14. Thats what we are doing...the basic Moments (free) package with adding the things that we will actually use. Thats a great plan for us.
  15. The use of a terrace space is $500. that does not include anything other than the physical space. Then there is a $150 (plus tax) fee for the rental of a sound system to use with your ipod. I believe that you are then allowed the use of the sounds system for 3 hours. Depending on what else is out there, there may also be a $200 setup fee. I have heard this sometimes applies depending on what is involved. We are choosing to rent the Carnival Terrace for after dinner. We are also going to have a DJ at this event to help get things exciting.
  16. Here is link to the post relating to some photo information. Maybe this will help you out with some questions. Also, here is a copy from their wedding brochure that lists some prices.
  17. If you have more than 10 people for any type of dinner there is a fee of $22 (increased from $20 from 2012 I think). This can be in most of the restaurants. It is not private, but instead semi private. There will be other people dining in the restaurant too. You will need to still have a set menu, which we were not a fan of. Also I thought I read that they do not allow any music in these reataurants then as to not disturb other guests in there. Maybe I'm wrong about that though.
  18. Thanks for that info. What was the podium charge for? Also, is the cocktail and appetizer hour one in the same?
  19. If you don't mind me asking, what was on the bill that was unexpected? We just want to make sure that we are planning our costs correctly. Also, how long before the wedding did you recieve your invoice? Thanks!
  20. Thanks for the info Mlite83. Relating to the sounds system I was told $150 for the ceremony and an additional $150 if we want it for up to 3 hours at the reception. I hope it would be less but think we are leaning towards a DJ anyway, so it will only be a $150 charge once. About the private bar, since we are having dinner with our 50ish guests in a separate area of the buffet then moving to the Carnival Terrace for a party/reception, I'm not sure if there will be staff there.
  21. Here are a few revised price details that we ran across from Deisy... The cost for a private bar at an event was $250 (plus tax) and now is $350 (plus 11% tax). We were told this is for 2013/2014. Also, if you do not want a DJ and you are going to go with just the sound system for your reception, the cost for this is $150 (plus tax). This gives you use of the system for 3 hours. Any additional time, even for 1 more hour, adds an additional $150 to the price. Just an FYI based on what we were told. Hope this helps!
  22. We are having our wedding on November 22, 2013 and we also choose the Moments Package. We were looking to originally do one of the other higher packages but since we are expecting about 50 guests or so the up charge for the additional 25 guests really added up in cost in addition to the package price. There were added costs for the extra people for cake, champagne, dinner, cocktails, and appetizers. With that being the case and with our budget we figured out that it was best for use to do the Moments package. Here is what we are doing... - 11 AM Ceremony at the Pergola. We were told that with the moments package that is the only time slot option. We are going to try to get that pushed a little later if possible, but if not, its not a big deal. - Then we are planning to have our group head to a bar, most likely the Lobby Bar to have a few drinks to celebrate. We will also be doing some pictures and stuff during this time. - Then we will give our guests a little time to freshen up or whatever. - Sometime in the later afternoon we are then going to have an hour of appetizers in the Lobby Bar area. We are not choosing to pay for a cocktail hour since there is a bar right there and since we are at an all-inclusive, we have a hard time paying extra for free cocktails. - Then we are going to do dinner in the buffet area. They are reserving a separate area in there for our group. - Then we are going to a party/reception for 4 hours on the Carnival Terrace with a DJ and I think we are going to include a private bar there. This was the best bang for our buck and it covers the things that are important to us. The most important thing to us is that we are able to celebrate with our family and friends. Are there any suggestions, tips, and/or ideas from anyone out there for us??? We appreciate all of your help!
  23. I have read that the sports bar turns into a "nightclub" later at night.
  24. Hi. This is our first post to this forum. It has been a great resource so far for us in planning our Now Jade Wedding. To start out, we have booked our wedding date at the Now Jade after a lot of research and thought. We are on a semi-limited budget but we still wanted to do a destination wedding. It is just important to us to have a great time with our great friends and family in paradise. We know will make it a good time no matter what. With that being the case we have chosen the Now Jade for our November 2013 wedding with the "Your Moments" wedding package. Because we are realistically expecting about 50 guests, the Eternity & Devine packages do not seem to be a good fit for us since we would have to pay a lot more to add the additional 25 people (since only 25 are included). With this being the case, we are going with the "Your Moments" package. This does not include a formal dinner. We are wondering if anyone has had their wedding at the Now Jade resort but just went with the "Your Moments" wedding package? We are looking for feedback from people that have also chosen this package and to see if they added any type of dinner or reception or cocktails or dancing, etc.? We want to offer something to our guests and are looking for some ideas that we maybe are not thinking of. Currently we are thinking of doing hors d'oeuvres the night before the wedding in the lobby bar area, then the ceremony the next day. For dinner that night we are going to do a reserved area in the buffet so that our guests have options on food choices. We are a variety of tastes in our group. Then we are looking into having dancing on one of the terraces with a DJ. Any tips, input, suggestions, or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
