  3. Here is what I have put w/links attached (under FAQ section) Is it safe to go to this part of Mexico? Yes! The U.S government deemed the area as safe for Americans to travel to , it was also recently named one of the five safest places to visit in Mexico. That being said, be smart. I did have to limit my choices as to what I could bring as I belive 50lbs is the weight-limit for most airlines. I originally wanted to bring photos of my familiy members wedding photos with frames and all but it just seems like too much and I don't want to risk anything being lost at the reception. In the end I decided I could only bring things I wouldn't be heart broken if they weren't returned. We are packing - 24 "Welcome" Kits, Menues, place cards, starfish wine stopper favors, 3 candles & holder for unity ceremony,to-go flat cake boxes, 12 tea lights & glass holders, and that's it. We have left most everything in it's original packaging for the trip but I will affix our labels to the cake boxes and our personalized tags for the wine stoppers when we arrive. Make sure you bring extras just in case anything breaks. I am packing everything in shoe boxes as they take up little space and I feel like they will survive the trip better. We decided to just use the resort white linens & flowers (bought extra centerpieces) ...that will save some room in my suitcase & fuss...

Would you recommend bringing your own makeup down for them to use? Or do they have a good selection? I've read all of the reviews for DT weddings and most said they were happy with their makeup though it does tend to be on the heavier side so be sure to bring photos of the look you're going for (also know that a tad heavier will look better in photos- but as we all know there is such thing as overkill). I went to my local MAC counter and did a trial with the colors I wanted to use. The makeup artist gave me a picture of a face palette and literally wrote directions on what he used and where everything was supposed to go (kind of like a map for the makeup artist in Mexico to use). The makeup was very expensive over $160 for some eye shadows, a liner, concealer, and a gloss but I chose colors I could use every day so really it was a good excuse for a makeup revamp!
  6. We sent out invites march 1st for our October 19th wedding , you should be more than fine
  7. Hi ladies, I need your help...were trying to decide what to do as a thank-you to our parents . We are definitely going to buy them one of the hard bound wedding photography books once we get back & get our photos, but we also discussed possibly buying an excursion for all of us (6 people in total). The problem is his parents have some medical issues with strenous activitiy and my parents are very active people...We also would like to keep costs down if possible. Any suggestions for something all of us would enjoy?
  8. I completely here you!!! We had 4 people drop out who said they were going but never booked. The 21 I have counted are already booked. Were getting married October 19th so at this point I feel pretty good with that number but emergencies do happen !
  9. Once I had the general idea of a number I made exactly three extras of everything just in case. We have 21 confirmed guests but I have 24 favors, welcome bags etc. ...even if they do not end up coming your better off having some extras in case some are damaged on the flight
  10. We did not do RSVP cars but simply listed our wedding website (wanted to be sure people would look at it) . Needless to say I am SO happy I didn't spend the extra money and those who are going to make it made it a point to let us know.
  11. Fellow allure bride ! (mine is 8800) , I kept comparing everything I saw afterward to "my dress" which is what it sounds like happened to you once you kept looking. Now you can enjoy your beautiful day knowing that YOU have the dress YOU love! I think that dress is very sexy by the way!
  12. I am getting married October 19, 2013 - coming up shortly! I have a lot of things planned already so if you have any questions let me know - as I have sent a MILLION emails back & forth lol..
  13. Very pretty- the flowers look a little smaller than anticipated...I am spending nearly $400 for four centerpieces, I really hope they are decently sized lol
  14. super random- but at $6 a piece through our resort I'm thinking I'll bring my own tealights. Did anyone do this before? I am a little concerned they will melt...and my carry-on will be full with my dress.
  15. I like the front of 2 and 4 - but you have to choose what makes you feel great ! I tried on probably 100 dresses but I found "my dress" toward the beginning. I kept comparing all the other dresses in my head to "the one". I didn't have a traditional "this is it...followed by waterworks" moment that I saw countless times on Say Yes to the Dress. Slightly disappointed with my own reaction, at first I kept on searching, but in the end I knew I felt amazing in my choice and it just so happens I am not a crier when it comes to dresses - who knew! (because I seriously have cried over many other details lol) Good luck, and you'll look beautiful in any of those choices !
  16. yours came out beautifully- what are the white flowers in your bridesmaid bouquet? I am not as concerned with the flower type as I want primarily roses (though I put no lilies...will probably say no gerber daisy too) I am more concerned with color as I want very light blushes, ivory etc. and am afraid with it being Mexico it will be a little too vibrant for my style.
  17. Ladies, have a question about flowers- I received my planning packet yesterday (woohoo) and they want me to put down a specific style number - but while I like the style I do not want those colors. I've included photos of the colors I like...do you think that is enough for them to get the idea? Specifically for centerpieces I like the container in one but the flowers in the other, I am so nervous this will become lost in translation!
  18. I think the surf & turf in the gold wedding package actually includes shrimp unless you pay extra to upgrade to lobster.
  19. I guess for me 50K could be spent on a house, or a new car, finishing my masters student loan payments, prepping for a family...but by all means if you have the cash and you dreamed of a big wedding then go for it! We had friends who spent well over this at home, and yes it was a gorgeous wedding but flatly for us it wouldn't be the smartest use of our money. We decided to buy a new SLR camera this weekend. I think I mentioned before we have two friends who went to school for photography coming...so we decided to (gulp) forgo getting a professional photographer (which I have agonized over) and supplement the resort photographer with photos from my two friends. They'll be able to use our camera and not feel that they need to lug their expensive equipment (though they may choose to do so if they would like). I figure it's something we will have forever and hopefully it will make me feel a bit less nervous about relying completely on the resort photographer. We also had beautiful engagement photos done prior, so we will ultimately end up with lots of pictures.
  20. I tried on this dress though ultimately went with allure 8800- similar but even thicker strap...the lace is beyond incredible! You'll look beautiful I am sure : )
  21. Girl I am NOT crafty... it was seriously very easy (which is why it was my only DIY project). If you can get 150 posts you can use a template here for the kits but I just built my own because I work with powerpoint all the time and felt ok making my own. It's as easy as printing something out on nice cardstock and stapling it (albeit nicely) to a quart size ziplock bag (You don't really notice the staple) . I've attached what mine look like, but really they look much nicer in person because it sort of looks like printer paper here- but it isn't. Not really fancy enough for a favor on the day-of but certainly at our welcome-party which is more casual. I don't think people will miss the entire OOT bag... (at least I hope not!) I will just lay these out nicely or put them in a basket. I filled them with lots of things like hand-sanitzer, band-aids, advil, lint roller etc. Ebay & Target were my best friends haha.
  22. They don't necessarily have to be - I did a survival kit type thing as a "welcome gift" and then wine stoppers as favors and I spent $150 total for 24 kits & 24 stoppers .... a mix of DIY (did the toppers of my survival kits myself) & shopping around. A small gift would be just as sweet and I am sure your guests will appreciate it : )
  23. we all got em : ) I promise I meant no offense...
